About this game
Brandish your bayonet and step into the boots of a frontline general in the Napoleonic era. In Veterans: Napoleonic Wars, there is no need to establish a base. Take charge and focus on thousands of soldiers awaiting your orders and the smell of gunpowder in the air. The drums are beating, and the lines are forming. Are you ready to lead?
Experience History in the Making at a Massive Scale
Command battles inspired by the first Italian Napoleonic campaigns in a grounded single-player experience. Engage in large-scale conflicts with thousands of soldiers and tens of battalions on screen at once.
Command with a Tactical-First Approach
Real-time combat focused entirely on battlefield tactics with no base building. React instantly to enemy movements, flanking manoeuvres, and sudden cavalry breakthroughs. Fire at will. When the ammo runs dry or the line wavers, send your men forward in a desperate, high-stakes melee attack.
Formation Warfare at its Finest
Control vast regiments of infantry, cavalry, and artillery in real-time. This is about the physical presence of your army: how they move, how they fire, and how they hold their ground within historically accurate line, column, and square formations.
Keep Up the Morale of Your Troops
Your soldiers are your greatest resource. Keep your units alive to build a legendary army of veterans that have the power to change history. Choose the right mix of units for the job. Bring heavy cuirassiers to smash lines or nimble light infantry to harass from the trees. Unit morale, fatigue, and line of sight all directly influence your combat outcomes.
Survey Dynamic Battlefields
Battle through rain, mud, and sunshine across diverse landscapes. Every cannon shot adds to the smoke on the field, altering visibility and the intensity of the fight. Survey the flow of battle at a glance through the fog of war, but be ready to take the lead at a moment's notice.
Manage Persistent Army Progression & Customization
Customize your armies and develop veteran units over the course of campaigns. Your troops gain experience for every battle they survive. Every engagement matters, as the losses you take today will be felt in the next battle. Engage with authentic artillery and represent your allegiance in Napoleonic era uniforms.

Dev Blog #8 — Refining the Battlefield
Fellow commanders, welcome to our new dev blog.In our newest video, we walk you through several updates coming to Veterans: Napoleonic Wars.Narrative momentsWe added a bit more storytelling to battles. Missions can now open with a short narrative introduction, and during the battle you'll see short lines describing what's happening on the battlefield - reinforcements arriving, troops advancing, flanking maneuvers, and more. These lines point you toward your next objective in a more atmospheric way, and give you a bit of historical context behind the events - for example, why the Battle of Montenotte was fought to split the Austrian and Sardinian forces.Faster point captureWe also changed how point capture works. Capture time is now shorter. This was one of your most requested changes, and we agree: capturing a point took too long, and it slowed the battle down where it shouldn't. With this update, those moments move faster, and the overall flow of battle feels more balanced.Reinforcements arrive from the map edgeEnemy reinforcements no longer appear out of nowhere. Now, they march in from the edge of the map, just like real battlefield reinforcements would. This makes every fight feel more grounded, and gives you a chance to react.Side objectivesNew side objectives are now available in battles. Complete them to win extra rewards, such as resources you can use to recruit more troops for your next battle. Thanks for watching. Visual Update
Several new visual elements have been added to Veterans: Napoleonic Wars recently. Let's take a closer look at what's new. Key artIn case you haven't seen it yet, here's our new key art, along with a few glimpses into the creative process behind it!You can download the full version here with and without the logo.Main MenuThe main menu now features a full day-and-night cycle and is built entirely as a 3D scene. A windmill turns in the breeze, and grass sways in the wind, creating a calm, living scene that welcomes you before you dive into battle.Destructible TowersWe added destructible towers to make the battlefield feel more dynamic and to give players a clearer sense of interaction with the environment around them. Towers now break down through multiple visual stages depending on how much damage they have taken, so their condition tells you something at a glance. This also works as direct feedback for the player: seeing a tower crumble is confirmation that your shots are landing.Boats and SurfTo bring more life to the coastline, we added boats along the shore. Combined with newly implemented surf effects, the water now feels active and alive, adding depth to the world around the battle without pulling attention away from the fighting itself. Marching Dust Troops now kick up dust as they move across the battlefield, adding another layer of visual feedback to their movement.Stay in formation:DiscordXFacebookInstagramWe will keep sharing updates as development continues. As always, thank you for your amazing support!Read full article on Community Announcements (alex)AnnouncementsOfficial

At the time of recording it was still in progress and not yet historically accurate - that clip is animation footage only. The finished, corrected version is the one you see in the screenshot below. We have more exciting news coming very soon, so stay tuned!Read full article on Community Announcements (alex)AnnouncementsOfficial
War in the Desert: Inside the Egyptian Battlefield
Today we're giving you a closer look at the Egyptian battlefield: how we build the desert, how the heat will test your army, and who you will face there.Terrain That Shapes the BattleThe environment is not just a backdrop - it plays a tactical role. Dunes slow down unit movement, forcing you to think carefully about your approach routes. And then there is the heat. The scorching Egyptian sun is represented by an air distortion effect - a shimmering heat haze implemented as post-processing. It adds a real sense of the desert to every battle: the air itself seems to tremble above the sand. But in this campaign, heat is more than a visual effect.Heat Fatigue: A New Campaign MechanicThe campaign introduces a heat fatigue mechanic, reflecting the unfamiliar climate your soldiers have to endure. Units accumulate heat fatigue as they take part in missions, and the more exhausted they are, the less effective they become in battle. Pushing worn-out men past their limit will also cost you reputation. There are two ways to deal with heat fatigue:Send the unit to the reserve. Time away from the front lets your soldiers fully recover.Issue an increased water ration. Water rations gradually restore a unit's condition - but water is a resource you will have to manage. It is earned by taking part in battles, can be purchased with reputation or money, and is also rewarded for completing side objectives. And one more thing: camel units do not suffer from the heat - a natural advantage of a mount born for the desert. New Factions: The Mamluks and the Ottoman EmpireThe Egyptian battlefield brings two new forces, each with its own roster and character. The Mamluks. Their backbone is cavalry, and it comes in three weights - light, regular, and heavy Mamluk horsemen. They are supported by Fellahin peasant infantry, camel riders, and their own artillery with guns and crews. Officers and generals lead them into battle. The Ottoman Empire. A more structured army: infantry ranges from Arnaut irreg...Read full article on Community Announcements (alex)
