Command powerful Husks through Aeterna's streets, blending tactics with a dynamic deck to evade detection. Dive into this indie strategy game from OddSub, where every move counts.

About this game

Aeterna was the ultimate city and the eventual endpoint of human-machine coexistence. A self-sustained, self-sufficient ecosystem built to thrive amid the barren wastes of the fallen world, a monument to humanity's final hope. Its design approached perfection, yet ethical concerns demanded a safeguard: a human consciousness digitized and merged with the AI to provide the "human touch" the people feared losing. One fragile thread keeping the balance intact.

Restore Aeterna’s humanity through the Husk Protocol, allowing the last remnants of human consciousness to override the city’s mechanical workforce and use them to reach its corrupted core.

Husks are powerful, with their own decks, playstyles and relics. However, damage is permanent. Not only must you take advantage of each Husk’s strength as you battle your way through each biome, you must also engage in Husk Switching - a powerful tool that allows you to jump between Husks when one is near destruction in order to survive, allowing for a range of different strategies.

You are being hunted by the city’s mainframe as you traverse between each node through 3 biomes. Initiate Husk Switching or Hack the city’s Countermeasures during battle for powerful rewards and to delay detection. If the detection meter hits 0, the Guardian of the biome will begin looking for you and a boss battle may commence early, so be prepared!

With each loss, you grow stronger, unlocking more husks, cards and modules with each run of this first-person roguelite deckbuilder.

  • 15 powerful Husks

  • 300+ Cards

  • 70+ Modules to modify your build

  • 30+ Story Events

  • 9 unique Bosses

We're part of the Steam Deckbuilders Fest!

From the 4th - 11th May, Husk Protocol will be part of the Steam Deckbuilders Fest! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/46095486/cfc372238b6a98b874ada2a2b11d9d1ef4207d36.png Loads of awesome strategy games are being showcased, so make sure to check out the event. Plus, our playtest is still live, AND we've made some pretty cool updates! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/46095486/1bd496677a33080767ec814ac5be9b6776b34a99.gif Playtest patch notes: No Overseers at map generation Harpy and Exploder have been reworked to work with Trace rather than Overseers Not completing a Hack doesn’t reduce time to detection Countermeasures integrity increased to compensate Countermeasures tutorial shortened to account for those changes Starting in Tutorial starts with the encounter instead of the map After the first room on the map (during tutorials), you cannot proceed straight up and there is a tutorial highlighting the importance of exploration A little context! Over the past week we've seen some patterns with people playing the game that made us reevaluate the baseline difficulty that it offers. Specifically we have about a 5% success rate of people actually beating the playtest and the main pain point seem to be the Overseer encounters. This goes hand-in-hand with a rather overloaded onboarding experience where we try to teach you about all the cool stuff in the game in a very short amount of time and that is not working out great either. So, to try to smooth out people's initial experience with the game we've decided to EXCLUDE Overseers from the playtest. We're even extending this further to make regular Trace attempts not reduce your Time to Detection if unfinished. Don't worry if you were a fan of the way Countermeasures worked - we like it too! They will come back as difficulty modifiers after you've won a few runs and gotten used to the basics of Hacking. The other thing that we noticed is that people tend to beeline it toward the boss node at the end instead of spending some time to explore the map and ...

    Husk Protocol: Playtest now live!

//ATTENTION! HUSK PROTOCOL INITIATED!// Hey everybody! We’ve just announced our new project, Husk Protocol! Setting the Steam page live is a milestone moment for us, so thanks for being here and checking out our game! So… What is Husk Protocol? {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/46095486/1fa4f3009cda49d3c6a29aaaf1e4caac1d1765db.gif In a nutshell, this is a deck-driven mecha roguelike where healing is impossible. You'll pilot your husk, define your strategy and choose your cards, but most importantly, know when to abandon ship! With intense mech-on-mech battles, each Husk you control has its own playstyle, from brawlers that benefit from taking damage, to control suits that specialize in managing crowds. Don’t get too attached to your mech, damage is permanent, so you’ll need to switch to a new machine to secure your survival! We wouldn’t be a proper indie dev team if we didn’t mention wishlists… Wishlists are incredibly helpful in getting our game noticed on Steam, so if you like what you see, please consider wishlisting! Thanks. https://store.steampowered.com/app/4202270/Husk_Protocol/ Join the playtest! The first biome is ready for combat! You can try your hand at Husk Protocol and let us know what you think! Head to our Steam page and hit the request access button to get immediate access. We’d love to get your feedback on our game so far! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/46095486/493a1fecc13a0d5662b2cd1d256732f48b23f5e0.png If you have any questions about our game or the development journey, drop us a comment down below! Thanks for reading - we’ll have more news to share soon.
