About this game
• Explore Swashbuckling Pirate Lands Twisted by Eldritch Influence
The Twisted Lands are a cursed archipelago of danger, treasure, and eldritch ruin.
Explore uncharted coasts and take whatever you can carry. Smuggler’s hideouts, underwater ship graveyards, and coastal forts await those bold enough to plunder them, but their denizens will not part with their riches willingly.
Explore ship graveyards and forgotten coasts, each hiding secrets to plunder
• Master Challenging Combat
Battle through The Twisted Lands against enemies who punish hesitation and reward mastery.
Timing is critical. Parries, counterattacks, dodge rolls, and stance breaks create openings for decisive blows while passive play leads to death.
Parry at range with well-timed firearm shots to punish openings
• Choose Your Fate
Begin as one of eight playable classes, each with their own passive and active abilities, weapon loadouts, and identity.
Whether you favor brutal melee, finesse hybrids with firearms and parries, or eldritch spellcraft that warps reality, the choice is yours to make.
The Bruiser thrives in close combat as a stalwart brawler wielding a massive anchor
• Embrace Madness
Sanity is both a resource and a curse.
As it drops, you lose maximum health and the world shifts against you, but your power grows in terrifying ways. Some routes, secrets, and treasures are only revealed to those who risk their mind.
How far will you go before breaking?
As sanity frays, the world shifts: new foes, new treasure, new horrors

Development Update: Exploring Shipwreck Reef
Development on Unbowed continues, and for this update I wanted to share a look at one of the areas currently taking shape: Shipwreck Reef.Beneath the waves lies a graveyard of ships and sailors claimed by the sea. Shipwreck Reef is a vibrant but dangerous stretch of ocean floor, filled with coral-covered wreckage and the remains of vessels that never reached their destination. While building the area, I've been working to give it an identity that feels distinct from the darker environments found elsewhere in Unbowed. The bright coral and clear blue water make the Reef one of the game's more colorful locations, but the scattered wrecks, and the things now inhabiting them, are a reminder of how many sailors have met their end here.At the heart of the Reef waits the siren queen, Leonora.Leonora's song can rob sailors of their will and draw them toward their deaths. Her boss encounter is being built around that ability, forcing players to contend not only with her physical attacks, but with her attempts to lure them under her control. Players must tie themselves to pilings located inside the boss arena at the right times in order to survive her seductive song.Leonora and her arena are still being iterated on, so what you're seeing here remains a work in progress. I've been having a lot of fun developing the encounter and experimenting with ways to translate the classic idea of a siren's song into Unbowed's combat. There's still plenty of work ahead, but Shipwreck Reef is steadily coming together. Thanks as always to everyone who has followed the project, wishlisted Unbowed, or taken the time to play the demo and share feedback. It means a great deal to me as I continue building the game.Read full article on Community Announcements (Ghulthar)Patch NotesOfficial

Development Update: Demo Update and Future Development Direction
Over the past few months, much of my development time has been focused on launching the demo, gathering player feedback, and refining the early experience. The first major update added a new tutorial area, improved combat feel, lighting, and performance, and addressed a number of issues raised by players. Now, my focus is shifting back toward the full game. The next stage of development will involve working through Unbowed one region at a time, finishing level layouts, populating them with enemies and encounters, and building the bosses that await at the end of each journey. Several regions are already taking shape, but there is still a great deal of work ahead before they become fully realized locations.I’m starting with level development, as it gives me a tangible foundation for everything else. Once the spaces are in place, I can begin layering in combat encounters, environmental storytelling, shortcuts, secrets, and the progression systems that connect each voyage back to Dead Man’s Rest.Thank you for following along.Read full article on Community Announcements (Ghulthar)Patch NotesOfficial
Development Update: Post-Demo Feedback and Ongoing Improvements
It's been a few weeks since the Unbowed demo launched on Steam, and I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who has downloaded, played, streamed, reviewed, or wishlisted the game.Launching the demo was a huge milestone for me as a solo developer. Watching people explore Smuggler's Caverns, fight The Hunger, and share their thoughts has been both exciting and incredibly valuable.Since launch, I've been gathering feedback from Steam reviews, forum posts, Discord discussions, YouTube videos, and livestreams. While there has been a lot of encouraging feedback about the atmosphere, world, and overall concept, players have also helped identify several areas where Unbowed can be improved. My current focus for the first major demo update includes:Improving combat feel and impactRefining enemy hit reactions and heavy weapon feedbackAddressing bugs and player-reported issuesPerformance optimization, especially in Dead Man's RestImproving onboarding and player guidanceAdditional lighting and visibility improvementsGeneral quality-of-life polishSome of these changes are already underway. Recent improvements include stronger heavy hit reactions for the Bruiser, adjustments to hitstop, visibility improvements for the lantern, and fixes for several level issues reported after launch. One piece of feedback that stood out was that some players felt lost early in the experience. Because of that, I'm exploring ways to improve onboarding and introduce core mechanics more naturally without sacrificing the sense of exploration that is central to the game.I'm also continuing to evaluate combat feedback. My goal is for each class to feel distinct while delivering the weight and responsiveness players expect from a Soulslike.Development on Unbowed continues, and the feedback from the demo has helped shape my priorities moving forward. I'm excited to continue improving the experience and share more updates as development progresses. Thank you again for playing Unbowed and helping shape its...Read full article on Community Announcements (Ghulthar)Patch NotesOfficial
