About this game

Plug Priority is a game where you play as a telephone exchange operator at the dawn of the 20th century, connecting callers to others!

The job is simple: People call your exchange, you listen for who they'd like to talk to and you make sure they reach that person! Listen carefully, and perhaps you'll catch some bits and pieces about what this town's residents are like.

  • Do your best to respond to calls as quickly as possible

  • Make sure the people that call you get connected to who they want to talk to

  • Ensure service is always perfect

  • Experience little bits and pieces of conversation throughout the decades as the sole employee of the telephone exchange

You take the role of Mandy, a young, toasted-marshmallow-furred, goat lady who just started her job at the town's brand new telephone exchange in the beautiful year of 1920!

While she's still new at the job, and was pretty much just dropped into the role via happenstance, and lack of other capable and/or reliable applicants, she does the best she can.

Seeing as the job pays well, keeps you busy and has reasonable work hours, why not stick around for a while?

    The direction of the game

Hey y'all!Sorry for the long time without updates. I've admittedly not been focusing super hard on the game for the past while, mainly because something big's been bugging me. What even is the point of this game? What makes it fun?I've been doing some pondering on this front for quite a while. The whole point and whole plan of this game was just to plug plugs into holes and connect voices from A to B, and while that's great fun for a short 3-5 minute game jam game with only two voice actors, it'd get rather repetitive and boring for a full game. For that reason I've decided to hold back on signing up to any events like Next Fest for the time being until the game is in a better state. I've seen the current state of the VR industry as a whole and the absolute lack of actually interesting, unique gameplay. As the game is right now, any bozo with some Unity know-how and UdonSharp could recreate the entire game in an afternoon for VRChat for free.I've at least been working on bringing up some of the assets up to a higher fidelity to further remove the game from its pixel art-esque game jam roots, and they do look rather nice! So what does this mean? For those skipping ahead, this means the following changes will be coming to the game in the near future (hopefully). The games graphics will receive a high-quality overhaul soonSome of the games assets will be remade soonWe're cutting audible voice-lines and replacing them with textboxes, as getting hundreds of unique lines voiced on a budget of $0 is... unrealisticHopefully more interactivity. The world right now just feels so static, boring and frozen. It needs some life! For those that've made it this far, here's a little image of Mandy cooking some soup.

    Preliminary Demo Released

Hello everyone!Today I‘m happy to announce that Plug Priority now has a public Demo! But don’t get too excited just yet. This Demo is pretty much just a slightly tweaked version of the game as it was back during the game jam that made this game, though slightly cleaned up and with hands. An upcoming revision of this demo, that I hope to get out before Steam Next Fest, is coming along rather nicely, and even now it already features a few good additions.A pause menu has been added that allows you tweak graphics and sound settings, and also quit the gameThere's now an actual level-loading systemThe hands look a lot nicerThere are more graphics optionsSettings are now actually savedNew hands!New pause menu!I‘ve been working on this new Demo that gives me more concrete control over the callers and actual levels for a while now, though I‘m stuck on a few architectural things, so I can’t release anything yet. I hope I can get these dealt with and out before Steam Next Fest. Here’s to a bright future!
