Explore eerie corridors while keeping your sanity intact in Within His View, an indie adventure where cameras are both ally and foe. Guard against the stalking Wendigo in this unique horror experience.
About this game
Within His View is a dual-perspective observation horror where watching the cameras keeps you safe — until it doesn’t.
You’re deployed into a remote cabin deep in the forest, tasked with documenting a violent paranormal entity that feeds on fear, paranoia, and your sanity.
The cabin is warm and nostalgic, lit by retro lamps and wooden interiors straight from the 80s… but every room around you is alive with something that should not be there.
You’re not watching the horror from a distance.
You’re sitting inside it.
Two Worlds. One Night. No Escape.
THE DIGITAL WORLD — Cameras
Inspect the monitor, switch through rooms, scan for anomalies, and report them before they overwhelm you.
Every correct report restores your sanity.
Every mistake pushes you closer to losing your mind.
THE REAL WORLD — Your Room
Look away from the monitor and physically turn around.
The Wendigo can approach you from three directions, completely silently.
Aim your flashlight at it before it reaches you — or it will end your run instantly.
Stare at the cameras too long?
You die.
Ignore the cameras too long?
You die.
The entire game is a balancing act between awareness and obsession.
A Night That Escalates Into Madness
The clock starts at 00:00 and ends at 07:00 — a complete run lasts 20 minutes of real time.
As the night progresses, anomalies multiply, sanity drains faster, and the Wendigo becomes increasingly aggressive.
You’re not trying to kill it.
You can’t kill it.
You’re here to study it — and survive long enough to pass the information to a specialized response team.
If you make it to the morning, someone else might live because of the data you gathered.
If you fail, the cabin simply consumes you like all the others.

DevLog #1: Sharpening the Shadows and Performance Boosts
Introduction Hi everyone! Welcome back to another update from the Darksteady team. While we’ve been busy crafting new terrors, we also took some time to polish the technical backbone of "Within His View." We want to ensure that your experience is as smooth as it is terrifying, so we’ve spent the last few weeks focusing on under-the-hood improvements. What's lurking in the dark (Updates)Dynamic Resolution: We've implemented dynamic scaling to keep the frame rate stable, even when the environment gets chaotic.GPU Instancing: We've optimized how objects are rendered, allowing for more detailed environments without sacrificing performance.Lighting Overhaul: We've fine-tuned our light layers and shadow casters, ensuring the light—and the darkness—behaves exactly as it should to heighten the suspense.General Optimization: The engine is now leaner and more efficient, meaning less time staring at loading screens and more time facing your fears.Into the Shadows As you can see from our internal dashboard, we’ve been spending quality time reorganizing our light masks and shadow logic. It’s not just about writing clean code; it’s about making sure that when you see a shadow flicker in the corner of your eye, it’s cast with perfect precision. We want the lighting to feel like a living, breathing part of the horror, not just a static effect. Conclusion and Call to Action Thank you for sticking with us on this journey! We’re constantly working to balance technical perfection with pure, unadulterated dread. What kind of lighting effects do you find the most unsettling in horror games? Let us know in the comments below! And as always, if you haven't already, please Wishlist the game to stay updated on our progress toward the final release.Read full article on Community Announcements (Darksteady)
