About this game

Dark Ride is a virtual reality theme park designed for people who love cozy, atmospheric experiences. Step through the gates and wander at your own pace into attractions inspired by the classic dark rides found in theme parks—where every corner tells a story through handcrafted environments, lighting, sound, and delightful surprises.

Unlike traditional games, Dark Ride isn't about winning or rushing. It's about exploring magical spaces, uncovering charming details, and experiencing the quiet joy of being completely immersed in another world. Built natively for VR, each attraction invites you to slow down, look around, and become part of the story.

Whether you're searching for hidden secrets, enjoying whimsical scenery, or simply soaking in the atmosphere, Dark Ride offers a relaxing escape filled with wonder, nostalgia, and curiosity.

A Theme Park Built with Love

Dark Ride is the culmination of a world Paleozoic has been building in public over several years.

The journey began with Dark Ride: The Feline Fix, a cozy scavenger hunt set inside a magical potion shop, followed by Dark Ride: Sweet Dreams, a gentle theme park attraction released in Early Access to explore what a true VR dark ride could become.

Each was a self-contained attraction within the same growing park, experimenting with new ways to tell stories in virtual reality. Dark Ride brings them together into a living theme park filled with handcrafted experiences—expanding on everything players loved while opening the gates to entirely new adventures.

Whether you have ten minutes to unwind or an evening to lose yourself in enchanting worlds, Dark Ride is a place you'll want to return to, again and again.

Features:

  • Vibe-driven design. No stress, no timers, no fail states — just a calm space to explore, experiment, and enjoy at your own pace.

  • Made for everyone. Intuitive, relaxed interactions make this an inviting first VR experience for families and casual players alike.

  • A classic dark ride, reimagined in VR. Climb aboard and drift through handcrafted themed scenes brought to life with immersive sound, lighting, and special effects.

  • Playful interactions. Poke, grab, and tinker with the world around you — the park is full of funny surprises that react to your curiosity.

  • Explore beyond the ride. Step off and wander the park freely — soak in the atmosphere and discover details hidden in every corner.

  • Follow the clues. Solve them to unlock new areas of the park and uncover what lies beyond.

    Hello World!

The 4 of you accidentally reading this. Welcome :)You may know us from other seemingly confusing VR releases like:Dark Ride: The Feline Fix and Dark Ride: Sweet Dreams (Early Access).Interesting thing. The VR world is small enough that you might actually know about us. The games world in general is so large that it’s impossible for a small team to be discovered. So if you are here — and you are — thanks. Your time and attention is literally apparently the most valuable commodity in the world. I know because I see a lot of ads and they must be there for a reason.Ok. Distractions and deviations aside. This Early Access project is the real deal Holyfield for us.To get here, those other projects were important. We had to answer two questions:Is anybody out there? Is this thing on?How easy is it to get heard in the VR space?Spoiler: it’s just as hard and just as easy as you would imagine. The real problem is that most of the social media venues Indies could share stuff on have died. That fragmentation and enshittification of messaging channels hurts. But with Feline Fix we proved that a few people would find us. And also that the team could actually ship something. Thanks for riding... Are you feeling OK?For a game about theme park rides — slow ones — motion sickness was a real worry for us.Even on our own team we have some with a more fragile disposition. No blown chunks yet... But there have been a few “I’ve gotta lay down for a bit”s. We honestly did not know what sort of feedback we would get about that sort of thing. So an Early Access for a single ride made sense. You know what we learned?Nothing.Just. Nothing really. No feedback. What do you think? No complaints means it was fine? Or... That nobody gives a sh*t about it? Former? Latter?Do you know the difference when someone asks? I personally think it was a little bit of both. But I think in general the code of the internet is that if even one person tried the demo and got sick off of it, WE WOULD have heard about it.So...
