About the Game
Explore and scavenge a dead city.
RadCity is a top-down adventure game with a focus on exploration and atmosphere. Two years after the bombs fell on an unnamed eastern european city, you can finally leave your apartment, but you find yourself in a desolate, dangerous world, with all plant and animal life dead, and with food being the only scarce resource.
The only escape is out of the city. You've made radio contact and have made a plan to leave with another survivor to a secret place of refuge, an underground military facility, reachable by train, but first you have to gather enough supplies - food, for the 40 days train journey.

Key features
Scavenge derelict industrial buildings. Complete environment puzzles, gain access to new areas, find food, help or avoid other survivors, engage in side missions, keep away from radiation zones and always return to a shelter to sleep before nightfall.
An adventure game without hand holding, a mix of point-and-click and bits of old-school classic isometric RPGs, with dialogues and a lot of exploration.
A rich world based on real abandoned locations, with a 3D, top-down perspective (and a true isometric mode). Almost all art is handcrafted, carefully made for this project.

August Update
Hello friends, here's what's new in August for RadCity: A Post-Apocalyptic Adventure!Content is about 80% complete. New completed areas are the CET power plant, the railway roundhouse, the bus garage and more. The only big locations left are the subway tunnels and train station (in the last third of the game). There are some side missions left to implement, but at this point the first 2/3 of the game are entering final polishing phase. Also there's only a few dozens assets left on the list, including final character models for NPCs.The final trailer is in the works, showcasing most areas in the game. Meanwhile, revamped capsule art with (hopefully) final version, that best communicates the atmospheric, exploration aspect of this game, its visuals and vibe. RadCity is a visual treat full of industrial rust, grit and radiation. Also updated all texts and descriptions on the steam page to make everything clearer.Reworked the system for hiding objects in front of the camera by splitting every big interior to its walls, so it never hinders the player. Whole buildings also fade automatically.Reworked AI for rad zombies, they have more animations, a dormant state from which they can be woken up when you get close, some can be blinded by the flashlight, will chase and follow sounds better, and they will keep appearing around you when it's night - better find a safe route home! Now comes another hard part: thoroughly testing and polishing. Hopefully it will be all done by October, so the late 2026 release date can work. All systems will get another round of polish, all levels will get another detail pass. However, time and budget are starting to get strained, and with more time than expected used on improvements so far (reworking some systems after player feedback), some planned stuff has to be put on low priority, and may or may not make it in release (or saved for a later big update):controller support (takes too much time to get perfect)main localizations in Japanese, Poli...Read full article on Community Announcements (hufflepuff)Patch NotesOfficial
June Update
Hello friends, here are some new updates for June in the development of RadCity: A Post-Apocalyptic Adventure! Most development time is now spent on creating content - art, locations, polishing, adding missions, testing, retesting. Gameplay wise a lot of systems are basically done, like interactions or the menu (now with save slots, character selection, controls) and a lot of code has been optimized. Movement has been reworked (again) and simplified. You can see where you can and can't move, what you can interact with, and where you can climb, and all with a single click (in CRPG fashion). WASD is still available, as well as hold-click in "manual" mode. Basic controller support is being implemented.Interactable items have a much higher, adjustable range where they are highlighted - no need to hunt for small items, now they're easier to spot. The game has also been nominated to the romanian RGDA awards under "Best Upcoming Game". RadCity is 100% made in Romania, set in Romania, and 99% of the art is handcrafted for this project with references from real urbex locations here.New screenshots attached below. The repair depot, a huge hangar with old train wagons:The Railyard, where a lot of survivors end up after leaving the city outskirts: The dead zone, a blocked street leading into the irradiated city.If anyone wants to try out a small, private, beta version in a few more weeks (hopefully), reach out on Discord: hristew#7443Thanks for reading, babadokiaRead full article on Community Announcements (hufflepuff)Patch NotesOfficial
April Update
Here's what's new for april on developing RadCity: A Post-Apocalyptic Adventure. After adding WASD support, the hold-click to move has been reworked to use pathfinding. No more falling off bridges!Another big complaint in the demo was the camera - tall buildings obscured the view. Now the game uses an occlusion mask to fade out the biggest view obstacles. Also added are clearer visual markers for climbing and a new system for highlighting objects is in the works, making it easier to find them (and should work well with controller support later).Meanwhile, the rest of the world is in progress. After crossing the railway bridge the game opens up with a ton of cool stuff to explore. Here is a screenshot of the train triage area. The rest of the locations in the game are in various stages of completion. Most side missions are planned, written and being implemented.A big takeaway from Next Fest is that there's a bigger than expected time demand for testing everything. Sometime in June, hopefully, a closed beta playtest will be announced here for anyone interested. Thanks for reading, babadokiaRead full article on Community Announcements (hufflepuff)AnnouncementsOfficial
Demo Updates
First of all, thank you to everyone that played the demo so far and provided extremely valuable feedback! With your help the demo (and the rest of the game) received a number of updates and fixes including:standard WASD movementreworked jumping and climbing with a visual marker (so objects you can climb are clearly marked and you won't miss any jumps)camera tweaksre-organized tutorials for clarityadjusted animation speedsfixed a number of bugsThe demo will take part of NEXT FEST, however after the event it will be disabled so all development efforts continue for the rest of the game. The demo was just a snapshot of the starting area that has already went through many changes and it has diverged from the final game. There's still a number of things to add and progress is underway, and the control will continue to be refined. Thanks for trying this game, babadokiaRead full article on Community Announcements (hufflepuff)AnnouncementsOfficial
Welcome to RadCity!
Welcome to the world of RadCity! Today I want to share some progress on the world and content, as well as some news for the beginning of the year.a demo is nearly ready and will be available on 10th of February.the game is taking part in Steam Next Fest starting on 23rd of February.while a lot of the game content is done, it's still a work in progress with many cool things to add so any feedback is greatly appreciated.RadCity takes place in an unnamed city in Eastern Europe, two years after nuclear war with the use of radioactive dirty bombs. You'll visit derelict industrial buildings like factories, depots, railyards and more, in a bleak broken world. You'll scavenge them for food, for needed items in missions, you'll solve environment puzzles, gain access to hidden areas and discover the stories of other survivors. Most locations are inspired by real places here in Romania, urbex locations, photographed, and created in 3D. The coolest parts of these are rehashed, they're given interiors and made into something that fits the industrial and post-apocalyptic setting of the game - the rust, the metal, the neglect:Most gameplay systems are done and content is on track to be finished for a late 2026 release. Keep an eye out for the demo release in 3 weeks! Thanks for reading, babadokiaRead full article on Community Announcements (hufflepuff)
