Venture into the eerie depths of Stillwater Lake as you uncover the truth behind Grace Harland’s disappearance. In Untold Cases - Stillwater Lake, your casual exploration uncovers dark truths hidden by a local cult's sinister schemes.

About this game

In this episode, you slip onto the restricted waters of Stillwater Lake to carry out a dangerous favour. Grace has vanished while investigating her brother's suspicious death, and her desperate husband has hired you to find her. What starts as a covert rescue mission rapidly descends into a nightmare of unsettling encounters.

Cutting through the thick fog and dark open water, you must explore a decaying lake to hunt down the scattered cassettes Grace left behind. Hunted by corrupt park rangers and paranoid locals, you must survive a community driven to madness and uncover the terrifying secret rotting at the heart of Stillwater before you become the next victim.

Gameplay

This experience is a narrative mystery focused on deep atmosphere and the constant feeling of being watched. You will use a handheld radio to communicate, steer a small boat to navigate between locations, and actively search for the missing cassettes that document the chilling truth. With no HUD to break the tension, you must rely entirely on your instincts, your surroundings, and the haunting sounds echoing across the lake.

Key Features

  • Episodic Horror: Experience a tightly paced, self-contained nightmare focused on heavy atmosphere, environmental storytelling, and creeping dread.

  • Manual Boat Navigation: Take physical control of your boat to traverse the oppressive, open waters of the lake as you travel between isolated docks and abandoned lakeside locations.

  • Radio Interaction: You are entirely alone, save for your handheld radio. Communicate with the mainland to piece together clues, unravel the mystery, and progress the story.

  • Psychological Dread: A slow-burn horror experience designed to get under your skin, prioritising thick tension and paranoia over cheap jump scares.

  • Local Conspiracy: Dig into the dark history of Stillwater Lake and uncover the terrifying truth behind a rumoured local cult and its ties to the authorities.

    An Update...

Since releasing the initial demo and gathering some fantastic feedback from all of our playtesters, a huge amount has changed behind the scenes. Here is a breakdown of what I've been working onSmoother Navigation: The boat is officially no longer a janky mess to control! Getting around the water feels significantly better and much more responsive now.Story: I brought on an incredible associate game designer who has helped flesh out the world and develop the overarching narrative. Crafting a deep story is something I often struggle with as a solo developer, so having a second creative mind on board has been a total game-changer. And yes, he also absolutely hated the old boat controls.Significant Lake Rework: The core lake area has received a massive overhaul and has been completely reworked to make sneaking into the lake and exploring the environment feel much more atmospheric and immersive. An Expanded World: The investigation is growing. The experience is now spread across multiple distinct maps, giving you much more ground to cover as you dive deeper into the cult mystery.Quality of Life Improvements: I've added dedicated hotkeys for your essential gear. You can now press M for your map and R for the radio to keep the gameplay flowing smoothly.Upgraded Visuals: Expect some major visual upgrades across the board. I've tweaked the post-processing effects to really lean into that immersive VHS-lite aesthetic, alongside a much cleaner GUI.New Steam Page Artwork You may have seen the incredible new artwork up on our Steam page! A massive shoutout to Vitor Ximenez for perfectly capturing the mood of the game. You can check out more of his fantastic art over at artstation.com/vximenezOverall, progress has been slow but incredibly steady. The direction of the project has improved tremendously since that initial release. In fact, the changes are so significant that I am planning to completely remake the demo to properly showcase all these updates.Thank you all for playing an...
