Content notice: The player will attack undead in hand-to-hand combat using clubs/knives/spears etc. There are no blood or dismemberment effects during combat. The enemy models have been selected to depict undead and therefore contain elements of gore. Some static gore may be present for atmospheric purposes. As the game is top-down isometric, all gore is viewed at a distance. The games icon depicts an undead animal in a cartoon style.

About this game

Red Soil is an isometric top-down gritty survival horror game set in the scorched outback of Australia where you’ll battle not just the undead — but the land itself. Every step drains your stamina. Every hour brings thirst, hunger, and fatigue. The heat is relentless. The silence is never safe.

Core Features:

  • Dynamic Survival Maps – Explore procedurally activated environments where no two runs are the same.

  • Undead & Environmental Threats – Face infected enemies while managing heat, thirst, hunger, and exhaustion.

  • Mission & Free-Roam Modes – Progress through structured missions or test your endurance in randomized survival runs.

  • Character Progression – Level up your survivor, unlock specialized skills, and tailor your playstyle.

  • Crafting & Equipment – Scavenge resources to craft weapons, tools, and survival gear.

  • Resource Management – Balance hydration, nutrition, and stamina to stay alive.

  • Atmospheric Presentation – Gritty isometric visuals and immersive soundscapes that capture the harsh Australian outback.

Red Soil demands more than reflexes — it demands discipline. Equip wisely. Move deliberately. Adapt constantly. In Red Soil, survival isn’t given. It’s earned.

Major Update 0.624. 20 New Zombies, 5 hostile archetypes, Australian Flora

Welcome to 0.624!This update marks a large milestone in the Beta development of the game. Hostile Update and Balance 0.220 Zombie models and 5 Archetypes have been added. There are unique animation and audio sets to each type of hostile.Let's meet the familyWalker:The walker is the most common threat walking about on red soil. They move slowly and don't excel in any particular threat. There are 15 new Walkers with 5 animation setsScreamer:If this hungry fella is interrupted from his meal he will let out a a scream alerting all nearby hostiles to you presence (10m). There is currently only 1 model with 2 animation setsArmoured:This former survivor has unfortunately made your life harder by equipping themselves with armour before they turned. The Armoured archetype mechanic is that it will take twice the stamina cost to attack them... also, and obviously, they boast the highest armour values in the game, so consider having a high piercing weapon in your quick weapon change slot to deal with themRunner:Be prepared to check your equipment to see if you soiled your pants, because these guys are bound to give you a scare as they sprint towards you. They attack very fast, but don't hit too hard. Higher armour to reduce the smaller damager they deal will be more effective versus this threat. There are 4 different types with 4 different animation setsBrute:These lumbering masses of rotting flesh will cause fear to those around them, literally: check the debuff icons on the left side of the screen and you will see they give you a debuff that lowers your stamina regen. These guys not only hit hard, but have 2-3 the hitpoints as a normal zombie. Rest assured you efforts in slaying these hostiles will no go unrewarded as they have a high loot chance of high quality items. There are 4 of these behemoths with 2 animation setsNew Australian FloraA wide range of Australian shrubs, bushes, ferns and small trees have been added. With this comes new classification of harvesting that vary t...
