In Destruction of Heavenly Bliss, navigate through nine levels of an oldschool training simulation, growing stronger and realizing ignorance truly is bliss with each loop.

About this game

Lying beneath the surface of this incremental arcade shoot 'em up lies a haunting experience. Take the role of Artem, an advanced intelligence created by a naive researcher. Experience the combat simulations intended to mold his young mind, and watch as it twists him instead. Grow stronger and more aware with each run in the simulation, until both the facade and Artem's mind finally shatter.

Fight through 9 levels and gather bits as you destroy enemy combatants. You might start off feeble, but those bits will allow you to increase your firepower more and more.

Use that power to dive deeper into the simulation and survive until the end to face a challenging boss. Unlock moments of consciousness for Artem after the defeat of each boss and untangle the memories of his struggle as he comes to terms with the horrific truth of his creation.

Unlock new weapons and capabilities for your ship, giving you an advantage against the relentless hordes of ships that impede your progress. Each upgrade expands the tree, giving you more options with every purchase.

Upgrade aspects of your current weaponry. From firepower and projectile speed to special properties like piercing and bounce. Go from the slow, deliberate gameplay of older shoot 'em ups, to an overpowered machine of death with hundreds of bullets like modern bullet hells by the end.

Survive this onslaught till the very end and realize why you would cherish the blissful ignorance of non-existence.

    V1.1 Patch

A Much Needed UpdateThank you to everyone who bought the game in these early days. This is a lot of firsts for me so I am grateful to those that put up with these issues. I took a lot of the feedback and hopefully this patch will rectify some of the major design issues that I was a little stubborn about.Enemy Bullet ColorA lot of people were right that when the screen gets crowded, it is nearly impossible to see whats an enemy bullet and it feels very unfair to get hit in such a mess. I figure if there was one place it was ok to break the color pallet, it was the enemy bullets. Thankfully it was fairly easy to do with just a shader. This way, I can add different pallets later on for people with red-green colorblind and just for funsies.LayeringThe order in which bullets, bits, and enemies would draw was not ideal in 1.0. So, I've made their placement much more deliberate to help with visibility. Bits sit all the way in the back, player bullets sit just on top, and enemy bullets/enemies are almost always drawn on top. The biggest offender was missiles when they had full fragmentation. Now, you can actually see when firing at full blast. SettingsSettings now actually do something and will persist through closing and opening of the game. Audio levels should actually be controllable. I have no idea how that slipped pass me, it's a little embarrassing. Admittedly, I would've liked to have customizable controls ready for this update, but it needs a little more refinement. So that'll be up next for QOL improvements. MiscThe Player now enters a "danger" mode when they have lost all of their shields. It makes the hitbox significantly more obvious and makes it more apparent when the player is a touch away from death. The upgrade space has a small change where when an upgrade is maxed, it will now display a visual effect. Hopefully making it easier to see what upgrades the player still needs to finish in the late game.Certain events will now pause the level timer as to not over...
