Navigate through challenges to clean up and save the factory in Clockwork Cleanup. This free-to-play indie strategy game from 2025 uses an auto-battler mechanic where your moves are dictated by shaped tiles placed on a grid.
About this game
Goo creatures are running amok in the spell factory and its up to you and MAC (Magical Automatic Custodian) to stop them! Guide MAC through five waves of creatures with a boss at the end of each wave. Choose a reward after each fight to craft an unstoppable spell arsenal!
Clockwork Cleanup is an auto-battler where MAC's actions are defined by spell tiles placed in the central grid. The spell tiles are powered by elemental sources located on the perimeter of the grid. You must use pipes and splitters to route the energy to the tiles. Some tiles require multiple elements which can quickly create congestion. Space is limited, but there will be opportunities to expand the grid as you progress.

Modifier tiles can be attached to spell tiles to modify their behavior. A tile that may seem weak could shine with the right mods. Mix and match to find useful combinations.

Once per wave, the workshop offers you a chance to further modify your grid and tiles.
Fuse two elements together to create a dual-element tile.
Cut a tile into two smaller tiles.
Re-arrange the location of input connectors on tiles.
Increase the mod limit
Heal up
or just scavenge for resources in the recycling bins.
You must manage the grid space carefully to craft the right mix of offense, defense, and routing to save the factory!
Features:
34 spell (action) tiles
17 modifier tiles
5 special routing tiles and 4 pass-through tiles
35 fights split into 5 waves with a total of 22 enemy types

v1.2.1 Run History and DX12
The two main changes in v1.2.1 is the addition of a Run History log and upgrading to Godot version 4.6.1.Run HistoryThis probably comes a bit too late for most of you, but the game will now keep track of your run history. This can only track runs that complete (hit a Game Over screen and return to menu) on v1.2.1 and beyond. There is a new button on the main menu to browse the list of runs and sort by different criteria. Clicking on an entry will show you the final grid, overall damage stats, and the final fight that was reached.Godot 4.6.1 and DX12I updated the Godot version used to 4.6.1. With this version, the Godot developers felt confident enough to move their DirectX12 support out of beta. I will be adding a launch option to launch the game with DirectX instead of Vulkan or OpenGL. I know some people ran into issues with those rendering options. The new version introduced a few animation bugs, which I think I've fixed. Please let me know in the discussion forums if you run into any new problems.Read full article on Community Announcements (Dard)AnnouncementsOfficial
v1.2.0 - Virtual MAC
Introducing Virtual MAC!Have you ever wished you could pick the exact perfect tile after each fight to have the ideal run? Well now you can! After beating the game at least once, Virtual MAC will be selectable from the New Game menu. When Virtual MAC wins a fight, you will be able to pick any tile as a reward. The tabs at the top of the window can be used to filter the selection based on element (or combination of elements).A few things to note about Virtual MAC:As the game is significantly easier with Virtual MAC, beating the game with this character will not unlock the next pressure difficulty level.Scavenging for tiles in the workshop is still random.Virtual MAC cannot select the double rewards like "2 T-pipes" or "2 random pass-throughs"Have fun creating the theoretical build of your dreams!Read full article on Community Announcements (Dard)Patch NotesOfficial
v1.1.2 balance patch
Fired Up (the buff from Flame Ring) now only provides half damage when applied to attacks that target all enemies. Flame ring's damage scaling increased from 4 to 5 (back to the v1.1.0 value) While I like the adjacency change to flame ring, it became way too easy to breeze through the first 20 fights with just a flame ring or two and rain. When you can do 50 damage to all enemies before they can act, there isn't much challenge.Read full article on Community Announcements (Dard)Patch NotesOfficial

Fixed a bug which was preventing pressure levels from being unlocked when defeating the last boss.Read full article on Community Announcements (Dard)AnnouncementsOfficial
v1.1.0 - Endless and new difficulty levels
v1.1 is now live on the main branch. I decided to up the version number to v1.1 since this added a few features and is not just bug/balance fixes. Edit: There was an issue with pressure mode unlocks in v1.1.0. Please make sure you have v1.1.1 which fixes this issue. So what’s in 1.1?Pressure (difficulty) levelsAfter beating the wave 5 boss for the first time, pressure levels will be unlocked. These are a cumulative set of modifiers to make the game more difficult. You must beat the last boss on the highest unlocked pressure level to unlock the next one. There is a new menu after clicking New Game where you can select a difficulty level. If you just want to jump to the highest difficulty right away, there is a button in the settings menu to simply unlock all difficulty levels. Endless ModeAfter beating the last boss, you will have the option to continue playing in endless mode. In endless mode, previous waves will be repeated, but enemy health and DPS will increase in a somewhat linear fashion. Additionally, some global buffs will be applied as you continue through the wave which will make enemies resistant to certain forms of attack. Can you beat the new boss at the end of wave 8?Combat Timing(I’ll admit, these changes get into some real nitty-gritty details, so feel free to skip it if your eyes start to glaze over. The TL:DR is that I fixed several issues which were causing combat outcomes to vary based on game speed.)v1.1 includes an overhaul to how combat actions are executed. Previously, if multiple actions occurred on the same frame, the order in which they were processed was deterministic, but not predictable. With 1.1, all actions are timestamped based on when they should have occurred as if the game was running at an infinite frame rate. If multiple actions trigger on the same frame, the one that should have happened earlier in time is processed first. This change eliminates some corner cases where changing the game speed resulted in a different combat outcome....Read full article on Community Announcements (Dard)
