Explore the haunted halls of Dark Pals: The 1st Floor, where your Ink Blaster is key to solving puzzles and outsmarting disturbing mascots. Uncover long-forgotten secrets in this singleplayer indie horror adventure.

About this game

Step into Dark Pals’ abandoned children’s mental health facility. Once bright, cheerful, and welcoming, it now stands warped by time, neglect, and forgotten memories. Armed with your Ink Blaster, you’ll explore unsettling spaces, solve environmental and logic-based puzzles, and evade the facility’s disturbing mascots.

But the more you explore, the clearer it becomes: this place knows you.

Do you remember?

The facility is home to a cast of colourful yet horrifying mascots, each hiding a darker purpose. From Chompy Chasey, a dog with a comically large head and deadly teeth, to other forgotten figures, such as Binky Drinky, lurking in the shadows of these forgotten halls.

Progression isn’t just about escaping, it’s about perception. Using your toy paint gun, you’ll be solving puzzles that play with your expectations and sense of reality. Rooms may change their layout, you may have to put your morals and sense of self-preservation aside, and you need to keep your wits about you if you want to survive.

What begins as a cheerful lobby slowly reveals something far more sinister. Catchy, irritating tunes echo through empty halls. Bright colours mask unsettling truths. Every puzzle and encounter draws you closer to the truth about who you really are, and why this place still haunts you.

    Update 1.2 is live!

Today we're celebrating The 1st Floor's one-month anniversary with the first content update, and it's starring everyone's favourite "mascot": Omeletteman! One downside to making mascot horror games is that most players finish them in a few hours and don't have much reason to come back. We've hidden a lot of lore throughout the game that you might not catch on a first playthrough, but we also wanted to give you something fun to return to. So we added a little minigame that fits right into the narrative. And who knows? Perhaps you'll find a secret or two.Full changelog:Changes:Added an Omeletteman-themed Cookie Clicker minigame, playable in the Staff Kitchen and from the main menu. How many BBWC cookies can you bake?Supporters who bought the full Plushie Bundle are now credited in the game's end screen!Increased visual quality of Binky and Chompy on High or Ultra graphics settings. You can now see how many collectibles you've found in the pause menu.Added "Paused When Minimized", allowing the game to pause or remain active while Alt+Tabbed.New animations draw more attention to gameplay objects and add to the narrative of the game.Your friends can now see what area you're exploring on Steam.Improved the range within which the kid ghosts would trigger.Updated the credits.Bug fixes:The game is now paused when you open the menu (Esc).Pressing Esc while in the menu now dismisses the menu. The game menu no longer fades in very slowly on startup.Graphics settings no longer reset when reopening the settings menu.Fixed an issue where the settings menu was sometimes triggered twice.Fixed an issue where ink would sometimes disappear.Fixed an issue with Inky's movement-based ragdoll when using a controller.Fixed the credits roll cutting off early.Fixed an issue with the water mill animation.Fixed kitchen belt spline and door animations. The kitchen mixer button no longer remains active after shooting it.Various visual and audio fixes.
