Take off on daring deliveries across the gas giant's moon in Bush 1022, an open-world simulation where every flight is a new adventure.

About this game

Fly a bush plane on the moon of a gas giant. Do deliveries, challenges and explore an open world.

What to expect

  • With a simplified flight model, you can just focus on the fun parts of flying, landing and manoeuvring the aircraft. You don't need to worry about any details for handling real aircraft, like propeller reaction forces and trim tabs.

  • The controls are optimized for gamepad and keyboard + mouse.

    • HOTAS and flight joysticks are not supported.

  • A seed is used to generate a new procedural open world for each playthrough.

  • Choose your difficulty. Your game can range from a calm world where you can relax in undisturbed skies to a place where you have to battle heavy rain, snow, wind, turbulence and fog.

  • The full size of the game is about 150MB and it runs well on a beat up Dell Vostro 15 3000 from 2022.

  • Original soundtrack.

    2.1.4 pre-release: Damage System

A common problem in older versions of Bush 1022 were crashes that felt unfair, that's why the old system was completely scrapped for v2. This update brings in a new system, where damage is dependent on the severity of an impact. If you accumulate too much damage, the aircraft gets totaled. In this video I do a brief demonstration with a hard landing.Other ChangesSuspension physics tweaks.Configuration tweaks for all built-in aircraft.New Twin Bob engine sounds.Fixed lights and collisions for the Classic aircraft.

2.1.3 pre-release: Twin Bob and Classic skins

This update adds a few skins to the built-in aircraft. It's far from final, I'll add more skins in the coming updates, this is just a starting base.

    2.1.2 pre-release: Shop and Garage

Modded aircraft and skins now fit into the core gameplay by being available for purchase at checkpoints and collectible in the garage. This is the final planned modding addition in the pre-release update cycle.IdentitiesThis part is important for modders.Aircraft identityThe game can now keep track of owned aircraft and skins. It can do that based on data that should be unique for each entity. For an aircraft, the game uses 3 things to keep track of it's identity:Name of the aircraftName of the creatorRepository Origin (is it a local mod, or is it from the Steam Workshop)Any changes to the aircraft or creator fields in the config will lead to the player losing the aircraft. Skin identitySkins are tracked through their index in the "extra_skins" array in the config. Changing the order of the array will lead to the player owning a different skin, based on what was at that slot when it was purchased. The ShopAircraft and skins now have a price and can be purchased from the Shop in the Checkpoint Menu. The starting aircraft is the Ultralight. In Free Flight mode everything costs 0 credits. How to set a price? For aircraft, you can add a "cost" property to the mod aircraft config. It should be an integer value. If not set, the game will place a default price of 10000 credits. For skins, you can also set a "cost" property to any object in the "extra_skins" array. The value should be an integer. By default, it's 1000 credits. The GarageAfter you purchase plane/s and/or skin/s, you can activate them in the Garage, which is available at home or at airfields.Other ChangesThere's a new propeller animation and texture.Suspension physics have been improved a bit.The "example" mod folder has been removed from the base game as it makes the shop very messy. It will soon be up on the Steam Workshop. The debug aircraft select has been removed.Earlier v2 release plansI originally wanted to add more features to v2 before doing the full release. However, I feel like the game is already much bet...

    2.1.1 pre-release: Workshop menu improvements

This is a small update that improves the Workshop upload flow in the "Mod Menu"Creating a new item no longer requires pressing 2 buttons. Now, you just have to write down the name of the mod, select its folder and press the "Create New Item" button. This will make a new Workshop item with the given title and contents. There's also a new option to update an existing upload. This is done by selecting the mod from the dropdown and pressing the "Update Existing" button. This will change the title to the one given and will change the contents of the mod to whatever's in the selected folder.

2.1.0 pre-release: Steam Workshop, Skins and Sounds

Well, the initial Steam Workshop support is finally here! A bit clunky at the moment though, this version is mostly intended to catch internal bugs and get feedback from modders before expanding and scaling.I will also update the modding guide to reflect the new changes within the next day.Video SummaryI've made this 5 minute time-stamped video with a summary of how to upload to the Workshop, along with briefly going over the configs for skins and sounds.More detailsWorkshop features right nowThe game currently supports uploading and loading subscribed items. There is no feature to edit a mod yet, but it's coming in the next version. The Workshop uploader builds on the local mod loader by using the same folder system. Basically, the same folders you add to mods can then be uploaded to the workshop.Custom Skins and SoundsModded aircraft can now have custom skins and sounds. I missed some key parts of that for the video, I'll go in more detail when I update the guide, but basically, the skins referenced in the config only change the albedo texture for a material named MainTexture in the model.OtherThere are now additional creator name, description and fuel capacity properties for each modded aircraft. The old Skin Select menu has been removed from the game.Going forwardI aim to be ready with the full release of version 2 by mid September. These are the planned remaining features:Improve the Steam Workshop integration, add edit functionalityIntegrate modded aircraft into the core gameplay (e.g. be available for purchase at airfields)New upgrade systemLandmarksMission systemCross-platform Cloud Saves
