Embark on a heart-pounding journey as paranormal special agent Doug Barker in Fright Train. Navigate through a terror-filled train and the frozen expanses of Antarctica, battling monstrous foes in this intense action-adventure roguelite game from 2026.
About this game
HELL ON WHEELS
Fright Train is a third-person action survival horror roguelite in which you'll explore the monster-ridden corridors of an enormous train speeding through Antarctica. Keep it running by maintaining its parts, because if the train stops, there’s no telling what abomination might emerge from the blizzard to claim you...
A CHILLING ADVENTURE
You play as a paranormal special agent responding to a distress signal sent from the L.R.S. Great White: a locomotive research station owned by the secretive SHARK corporation. Prepare to meet allies and encounter foes as you navigate the train's iron bowels. Monitor its condition and keep it running to avoid freezing to death or falling prey to the creatures chasing you outside! Will you be able to find the source of these horrors and put an end to them?
HIGH-STAKES GAMEPLAY
Scavenge the procedurally generated train for resources and unlock new cars and rooms by using the credits you gather, but don't forget to take time to prepare yourself for the waves of enemies that will appear during deadly storms! Credits will also let you purchase invaluable items at vending machines and upgrade your weapons. Get to the extraction point on top of the locomotive before the train reconfigures itself and complete small objectives to earn cosmetics!
KEY FEATURES
Meaningful and tactical inventory management. Big and medium-sized items are physically displayed on the character, and the speed at which he can fetch them depends on where an item is located on the body: a magazine will be quicker to insert if it's stored on the chest rather than on the lower back!
A volatile combat ecosystem in which enemy behaviors intertwine, allowing them to support or sabotage one another. Some enemies have armor and weak points: learn how to exploit their vulnerabilities and responses to attacks!
A lived-in environment in which you'll find lore and many objects with which you can interact: vending machines for supplies, crates to kick, terminals to monitor and repair the train's parts, doors to unlock, and more!
Semi-realistic stylized graphics and characters driven by a B-movie style story.
A chilling and exciting adaptive soundtrack!

2 Weeks Left Before Launch!
Hello P.A.W. agents!Start packing your heat pads and snowshoes, because Fright Train is releasing in 2 weeks!! We're super excited, and we can't wait for you all to experience what the L.R.S. Great White has in store for you >:) Once the game is out, please remember to leave a review, since it'll be a huge help in making the game more easily discoverable on Steam. I've updated the store page with new screenshots and videos, so go take a look when you can! We've made a ton of improvements since the demo: better onboarding, better pacing, better balancing, new mechanics, new items, etc. Thank you again for the feedback, as it was a huge help! With all these changes and additions, we haven't had the time to update the demo, and we feel like it no longer does the game justice. After some thinking and asking our community, we decided to add the demo to our Itch.io page and remove it from the Steam store page the day before launch. That way, the demo remains available to play and is less likely to make the wrong first impression for newcomers! We're doing everything we can to make Fright Train really special and give you all a super fun game to play. Let us know if you have questions or comments!Stay warm, and see you soon on board the Great White!Read full article on Community Announcements (WildArts Studio Inc.)AnnouncementsOfficial
Devlog: Cast Reveal and New Mechanics!
Hello P.A.W. Agents! We're super excited to unveil the voice cast for Fright Train! They all nailed their roles, and we're super grateful to them for joining us on this adventure! Check out the teaser down below to get a glimpse at our characters and see who they're played by:Next! We've been making good progress on the full game, and we wanted to share some cool progression mechanics that really enhance the gameplay. But first, you gotta know that Fright Train's story is divided into runs, and each run consists of fighting your way through the entire L.R.S. Great White, a mysterious locomotive research station in Antarctica. This train is divided into 3 sections, each consisting of a couple of cars. In between each section, you'll get a chance to do 2 things:Upgrade your weapons with the Bite-Back Machine! There are 4 weapon tiers, and the last achievable tier gives the weapon a wild new ability that's extremely powerful. While you'll mostly find lower-tier weapons throughout the train, you can upgrade them (for a price) at Bite-Back machines, which are located at the end of each train section! We have also added a universal storage locker in each car, so you'll be able to store weapons you want to upgrade later or extra items!Purchase upgrades to spice up your run!Next to each Bite-Back machine, you'll find a unique locker with 3 random upgrades to choose from. To unlock it, you'll need to keep an eye out for a code that will appear painted somewhere within the train section. You can only purchase one upgrade per section, so choose wisely: They can completely change how you'll approach the rest of your run! We're having lots of fun making this game, and we want to thank everybody who shared their thoughts on the demo and helped us playtest. There's a lot more cool stuff left in store for when the full game releases this September, and we hope you're looking forward to it!See you soon, and stay warm!Read full article on Community Announcements (WildArts Studio Inc.)Patch NotesOfficial
