About this game

In Search of Freedom

When the Qu-K virus not only infected bodies but seized the minds of a nation, Argentina slipped into a twilight of chaos and shattered symbols. Cities burned, institutions collapsed, and the truth hid itself in the fog. In the midst of the disaster rises Peluca, a charismatic and dangerous leader determined to reclaim freedom at any cost. Together with his team of immunes, he must fight through hordes, uncover an ancient conspiracy, and face decisions that will shape the fate of the country.

Gameplay — Tactical action and resource experimentation

In Search of Freedom combines close-quarters and ranged combat with environmental puzzle solving. The game rewards creativity: using the environment, combining different Blaster chargers, and coordinating enemy waves are the keys to survival. This isn’t just about shooting — it’s about thinking, improvising, and adapting your arsenal to every threat.

Types of Infected (threats that force you to change tactics)

Qu-K Tracker
An agile infected that locates and attacks you at close range. It pursues, closes distances, and forces face-to-face encounters. You’ll have to be quick and clever to evade it.

Qu-K Spliter
Attacks from a distance by ejecting a sticky, corrosive acid. Getting close without protection can be fatal. It forces the use of cover and long-range tactics.

Qu-K Kamikaze
Carries a detonator attached to its body and sacrifices itself to take you out. If it gets near, retreat or paralyze it with electrical energy before it explodes. This enemy turns the battlefield into a mobile trap.

Qu-K Gasborne
Releases clouds of toxic spores when approached or upon death. Inhaling them causes severe damage; encounters in enclosed spaces become tense and require careful planning.

Qu-K Stoneslinger
Launches heavy projectiles from long distances. It forces you to move, seek cover, and neutralize threats across multiple combat ranges.

The Blaster Chargers

Blasters are more than weapons — they’re multi-purpose tools whose versatility depends on the charger you equip. Switching chargers mid-mission reshapes your tactical options.

Continuous Charger
Fires energy spheres in a constant burst. Versatile and reliable for crowd control and sustained damage. Ideal for keeping hordes at bay and halting enemy advances.

Ignite Charger
Converts your projectiles into flamethrower-like bursts. Devastating at close range against clustered enemies — but dangerous near Kamikaze units, which can be triggered by fire. Smart use allows you to create barriers of flame and deny areas to enemies.

Electric Charger
Emits shocks that stun and paralyze. Essential for neutralizing Qu-K Kamikaze units — an electric hit prevents their self-detonation. It can also activate or disable machinery, power circuits, and break energy fields.

Grapple Charger
Fires a hook that anchors to surfaces and lets you traverse the map quickly — perfect for escaping ambushes, reaching inaccessible platforms, and adding verticality to combat.

Gravity Charger
Lets you manipulate objects and enemies: levitate barrels, create moving shields, or hurl foes through the air. Fundamental for solving physics-based puzzles and turning the environment into your weapon.

Interconnected puzzles and combat

Many of the game’s challenges require combining chargers: use the Grapple to reposition, apply Gravity to move a stuck door, then finish with an Electric burst to power the mechanism. Other encounters mix puzzle solving with survival: defend key points while managing waves of enemies. The Ignite Charger can cut off routes, but only the Electric Charger can deactivate living bombs. The right combination opens shortcuts, reveals secrets, and transforms how battles play out.

Key Features

  • Narrative campaign with cinematic moments and high-impact choices.

  • Tactical combat that blends modular weapons, vertical mobility, and environmental manipulation.

  • Enemies with unique behaviors that demand adaptability and creative use of your arsenal.

  • Puzzles built around charger combinations, rewarding experimentation.

  • Varied locales: ruined cities, contaminated factories, fog-covered fields, and secret bases.

We read your reviews and here are the upcoming changes.

Hello everyone! We want to start with a huge THANK YOU: the Steam Next Fest was an incredible success for us, and the reviews you left during the demo have been essential. We read them carefully, and many of your observations have already turned into concrete tasks in development. This update explains what we’ve fixed, what we’ll do next, and how we’ll keep the line of communication open with the community.Attention: These updates will impact the final version. The demo will NOT receive an update. What we’ve already fixed (thanks to your reviews)Enemy and projectile hitboxes. This was the main issue many players pointed out in the demo. We reviewed and improved collision points and hitboxes for both projectiles and enemies. Impacts now feel more consistent and punchy.Platforms and jumps. We received many comments about confusing jumps or platform placements that made it hard to see the player. We adjusted geometry and detection so jumps and positioning are clearer and more predictable.Audio fixes. We made targeted fixes to audio that sounded distorted or had noticeable volume differences to achieve a more balanced sound experience.Map boundaries. Several players found ways to leave the map. We already applied fixes to close unintended paths, but we need to be even more specific — that’s why we’ll try to contact players who reported these cases to coordinate details and close any remaining loopholes. We want to hear you more closelyOur team will try to reach out to some users who left detailed reviews to arrange meetings or chats (voice, text, or video) so we can get more precise information. The goal is to reproduce exactly the scenarios you experienced and adjust what’s necessary. We also reiterate that we will continue reading all reviews, so if you’d like us to contact you, leave a contact method in your review or reply to this announcement so we can coordinate.About things we decided not to change (and why)Some criticisms targeted elements that our team considers i...

YOUR REVIEW CAN CHANGE THE GAME

Hello, survivors! We’re the team behind En busca de la libertad and today we’re asking a hugely valuable favor: please leave an honest review of the demo on Steam. Why now? Because we’ll actually read them. Every review will help us to:Prioritize bug fixes and performance improvements.Decide which mechanics to polish or remove.Gather clear community ideas for levels, enemies, and the story. We don’t want generic reviews: tell us what you noticed, what you loved, and what broke your experience. Even a short review helps a lot. What to write in your review (useful examples)Bug / Performance: “Audio cuts out when there are more than 5 zombies” / “FPS drops when using weapon X.”Gameplay: “I loved the aiming feel, but the AI is too predictable.”Ideas: “A night level with heavy fog and limited ammo would be awesome.”Emotion: “It blew my mind” — if you liked it, tell us why.Why your review mattersReviews don’t just tell us what to fix: they help more players find the demo on Steam so we can get even more real feedback. The more honest reviews there are, the faster and better we can iterate. What we’ll doRead and categorize public reviews.Reply on Steam to specific questions when needed.Show community-inspired changes in future devlogs (yes — your idea could show up in a patch). If you played the demo, take 2 minutes and leave a review now: tell us about bugs, feelings, and ideas. Every review counts — seriously. 🙏Click here to try the demo for free.— David Pierucci & team.
