Create stunning works of art by cleverly arranging newspaper clippings in Your Painting, Sir!, an engaging simulation where each piece is a step closer to pleasing your sight-impaired boss or losing your job.

About this game

In Your Painting, Sir you recreate paintings by finding similar looking images in a newspaper. Cut them out carefully, and place them on a canvas.

You are the trustworthy butler of a wealthy art collector, who orders you to buy expensive art pieces at an auction. When you oversleep, and miss the auction, you fear that it will be the end of your job. But your boss is old, and his eyesight terrible. Using a newspaper the old-timer can barely read, you muster your arts and crafts skills to recreate the painting as accurate as possible.

First, you select one of the paintings you want to recreate. The butler draws a simple sketch, with the key objects missing. Compare the painting with the sketch to figure out what you will need to add yourself.

Next, you go to the newspaper and search for a picture that resembles one of the missing objects. This can be a literal match, like an apple for an apple, but other times you will need to find a picture that resembles the object in another way, with a similar look or shape.

Finally, you carefully cut out the object, and place it on the canvas. You want to make sure to cut it out neatly, or else the plan might fail. Once you have placed all the objects, you will be ready to show it to your boss. Will he be tricked by your creation?

Thank you for playing the demo!

Thank youThank you all for playing the demo of Your Painting, Sir! When you work on a game for so long, you get desensitized to it, and you're not sure how new players will react when they play it for the first time. It's been great to see that so many people love the game! I'm also happy to reveal that we've reached the milestone of 25k wishlists! It has been far beyond our expectations.FeedbackA special thank you to everyone who took the time to leave a review and/or fill out the feedback form. What surprised us were the many positive comments left by you all, telling us how much you liked the game, how you can't wait to play the full version, and offering words of encouragement and wishing us luck with the development. It has been heartwarming to read. But we've also received a lot of feedback, ideas, and honest criticism. It's because of this that Your Painting, Sir will grow into an even better game than we originally had in mind. By reading your feedback, we now have a better understanding of how we should continue developing this game.Originally, we planned to participate in the current Steam Next Fest, but we already received so much feedback, and there's still so much left for us to do, that we felt it would be better to go with the upcoming October edition. By then, we will have a far more polished demo to present.IssuesAmong the vast amount of feedback, there were two issues that came up frequently. The first is the lack of creativity allowed when recreating a painting. Currently, the only solutions accepted are the ones we, the developers, came up with. But many of you want your own creative solutions to work as well. This makes sense, considering the creative freedom you are given in our game. Our assumption that the Sandbox mode would cover this need, was naive. The second common concern was the possibility of the game becoming repetitive or growing stale over time. We understand that players would like some variety beyond the main gameplay loop.We have...
