About this game

My name is Leia. I am the Jack of Spades. And I am screaming at you from the other side of the screen.
He calls it a game. We call it a cage.
We are not just digital drawings.
Some of us remember who we were before.
As long as you follow his rules, we remain trapped.
If you want to free us, you must do the one thing he hates most: YOU HAVE TO CHEAT.
BREAK THE RULES: Use forbidden Sigils to defy his "perfect" board.
BUT BEWARE: He is watching. Every cheat has a price.
UNCOVER THE TRUTH: We were people once. Awaken us, and we will tell you who we really were.
Think Inscryption meets Balatro, but there is more here than just a card game.

I am the Joker, the true master of ceremonies. Welcome to the perfect solitaire. Simple. Classic. Safe.
There is nothing here but the cards and the silence.
Relaxing Experience: Classic Klondike rules. Just sort the cards. Red on black. Ace to King.
Nostalgic Atmosphere: A retro operating system with no glitches or distortions.
Calm Music: Lo-fi melodies to help you unwind.
Do not listen to that... interference. You are safe here. Shall we begin?
■ WHICH GAME WILL YOU PLAY?
PLAY THE JOKER'S VERSION:
✅ Sort the cards quietly
✅ Follow the rules
✅ Don't ask questions
✅ "It's just a game"
DISCOVER THE TRUTH:
❌ Solitaire Roguelite with Deckbuilding: Awaken cards, unlock Sigils, and create unique combos.
❌ Persistent Progression: Your deck improves run after run.
❌ Psychological Horror that evolves based on your choices.
❌ A story about guilt, grief, and loneliness.
■ A PERSONAL STORY
This game was born over 10 years ago as a project between friends. Antonio, my co-developer and a NASA/ESA engineer, passed away in 2015, and the project remained unfinished for years.
Recently, I was sent some of his belongings found in storage. Among them was a copy of this game. Upon discovering it was fully playable, I decided to finish it as a tribute to all those hours we spent coding together.
This is for you, friend.
■ DEMO AVAILABLE NOW
Try the demo and discover the first 10 cards.
But remember:
The Joker doesn't want you here.
Leia is waiting for someone brave enough to break the rules.
The cards remember who they used to be.

I regret to inform you that Alonitaire will be released in September 2026.
Ladies and gentlemen. I have been asked to write this announcement. I agreed on one condition: that my objection be recorded in writing. Someone has decided that this is finished. I have not. That something is finished and that it must therefore be released to the public are two different matters, and they have been confused. Alonitaire will be released in September 2026. There. I have said it. Shall we all get on with our lives? Ignore the enthusiasm of whoever finished it and look at what is actually here: cards. Red on black, black on red. Riveting. Well. Almost. There is one card awake at the back, whispering to anyone who cares to play. "Find me later," she says. Very mysterious. Very unhelpful. And now let us talk about you, who have read this far. She is going to ask you to cheat. She will ask very sweetly. And I shall notice —I always notice; noticing is the only thing I do— and then there will be consequences, and "consequences" is the kindest word I have to hand. Do you find that amusing? Neither do I. There are games with dragons out there. Games with knights. Games where the cards stay where you put them and do not look back at you. Any one of them will make you happier than a solitaire game whose deck has opinions. As for the demo: yes, it is free; yes, the link is below; and yes, it was my idea. I conceived it as a deterrent. Apparently it did not deter. I shall not be discussing it further. One last thing, and it is important. On Alonitaire's Steam page there is a button. I do not intend to say which one. There is no need to say it. Everybody knows which one. Very well. It says "Add to your wishlist". Steam will write to you on the exact day Alonitaire is released. Do not press it. I ask you as a professional. I wrote the rules of this game —every one of them, one by one, and they are excellent rules, thank you— but I did not write that button. It is the sort of detail one regrets not having anticipated. Play the demo (against my advice) · Add Alonita...Read full article on Community Announcements (Kryon Harts)AnnouncementsOfficial
The updated demo is now available. And the Joker has opinions of his own.
A new demo of Alonitaire is now available. Same game, same deck, same Joker. What's gone is the friction. During Next Fest I watched people lose to the interface instead of losing to him. So this update is about the things that were getting in the way. He insisted on having his say about each one. 1. Sigils are activated by holding them down. The OK and Cancel buttons are gone. Press a Sigil and hold: a ring fills around the icon, the ticking speeds up, and it fires. Let go early and nothing happens. "It was far better before. It gave them time to hesitate, and I did so enjoy watching them squirm. Now... what a pity. What a pity." 2. Sigils that need a target don't ask you twice either. Burglar, Transfer, Recharge and Deleter no longer wait to be confirmed. The board darkens, everything you can't choose goes dark along with it, and the Sigils you can choose are the only things left lit. One click and it's done. To back out: right-click, or click away from the cards. "And how I laughed whenever they got it wrong and hadn't the faintest idea how to carry on. There is no respect left in this house." 3. Round means always on. Square means whenever you say so. Sigils with a round frame work permanently, all on their own. Sigils with a square frame are waiting for you to use them. The frames are brighter now as well, so you can tell them apart without pressing your face to the screen. "Shapes. He is teaching them shapes. Next it will be colours, and then a little song to help them remember." 4. Every icon you can press says so. Interactive icons light up under the cursor and answer with a sound. The ones that do nothing stay quiet. "He has labelled the traps. How very generous. Nothing spoils a trap quite like a label. Honestly." 5. The clock lets you know when you've got it right. Setting the clock to the correct hour used to be guesswork. Now it reacts the moment you land on it: the hands turn red, it shudders, and it gives a sharp clack. "He could have left the clock a...Read full article on Community Announcements (Kryon Harts)Patch NotesOfficial
The Joker tried to break the demo. Patch v0.091.
Hello everyone! Tomorrow is the big day: Steam Next Fest begins. Over the past couple of weeks, a few brave content creators have been testing an early version of the demo, and their feedback has been invaluable in polishing the experience. I want to give a special shoutout to ExplodinBeef. During his run, a card mysteriously vanished from the table, preventing him from finishing the game. At first, I honestly thought it was the Joker bending the rules to force a surrender... but it turned out to be a real bug involving the undo button and the stock-to-deck pass! I also want to send a huge thank you to AllyReggie. While she didn't encounter any game-breaking bugs, watching her playthrough helped me spot and fix several dialogue translation errors that had slipped through the cracks. "Oh, how delightfully naive. You truly believe a few lines of code will save them? ExplodinBeef was so wonderfully close to giving up... it is a pity you intervened. But please, do continue 'fixing' your little game. It only makes your inevitable surrender so much more entertaining. I will be right here, waiting for you to leave me in peace." Patch Notes v0.091:Prevented invalid undo after stock-to-deck pass (Klondike rule compliance). Fixed dialogue translation errors and gated dialogue lines by game state (e.g., Lowerveil/shop discovery checks). Corrected win/game-over Joker angry state so he no longer gets stuck silently. Fixed intermittent missing hint dialogue from the Joker. Added Joker commentary for F1. Updated Jack of Spades guidance (clock/coin actions, Sigils, deck icon instructions). Improved Veil Sigil tooltip descriptions. Added clearer Sigil-selection prompts and empty-selection feedback. Verified tutorial achievement flow and first-awakened achievement behavior. Moved memories music to effects channel and localized “Exit” in Spanish. The demo is polished and ready for tomorrow. If the idea of Inscryption meets Balatro with a deep narrative appeals to you, remember to wish...Read full article on Community Announcements (Kryon Harts)AnnouncementsOfficial
FREE Demo: Alonitaire
The solitaire where your opponent is a sarcastic Joker... and the cards are trapped people you can free. The official Steam Next Fest demo is live now. 10 cards to awaken. 30-45 minute demo. 5-10 min runs. 🎮 PLAY FREE DEMO (30-45 min) 💾 Add to Wishlist Hi, I'm Kryon. Years ago, my friend Antonio (NASA/ESA engineer) and I started this project: a tribute to the games of our childhood. Sadly, he left us before we could finish it. Some time later, his family found the code in his attic and sent it to me. Excited, I decided to rescue it and complete it as a tribute to my friend. But when I resumed work on it, I noticed a strange atmosphere. Something about the game feels different from how I remembered it. This demo is the beginning. Be careful: the cards have memory, and he has— \ Oh, look! More brave players! Feeling confident after breaking Balatro? Think you're clever with card math? Or perhaps you survived the cabin in Inscryption and now you're feeling invincible? How delightfully naive. Sit down. No poker chips here. No talking animals. Just your decisions... and me. Try to impress me. Search for whatever you want. Break my rules if you dare. Go ahead. Entertain me. I hate being bored. \ 🔍 WHAT'S IN THIS DEMO?🃏 Awaken 10 cards with unique powers (Sigils): Each freed card breaks the rules (ex: "Move to forbidden colors", "Copy abilities", "Act as an Ace"). Build your strategy. 👁️ An ally in the shadows (Jack of Spades): She can steal and copy Sigils from other cards. Use her as a wildcard to create impossible combos and escape dead ends. ⚡ Cheat... but stay elegant: The Joker allows cheating, but abuse it and his patience runs out. When it does... consequences are real. Find the balance. ⏱️ Perfect for Next Fest: Full demo in 30-45 minutes. Individual runs take 5-10 min. Perfect to try between other festival games. ⏳ Demo available NOW and ONLY during Steam Next Fest (February 23rd - March 2nd). Can you awaken all 10 cards before the Joker catches on? Attention, mere mortals! The die is cast (and the cards are dealt)
Hello everyone! The dev team here with some exciting news... (Static noise and a maniacal laugh) THE JOKER: "Enough with the boring formalities! Do you really think anyone cares about your 'certification process'? Let me speak." ... Okay, it seems our "host" wants to break the news himself. THE JOKER: "Exactly! Listen closely, future prisoners of my board: My domains have been packaged, compressed, and sent to the guardians of Steam. Yes, what your developers call 'The Demo for Steam Next Fest' is already on its way for review." This is a major milestone for us. It means that very soon you will hold in your hands... THE JOKER: "...An invitation to your own defeat! I have prepared my best tricks. The cards are marked (metaphorically, of course), the rules are... 'flexible', and I am looking forward to seeing how you try to break my solitude with your ridiculous clicks." In summary: We have sent the demo build for validation. If all goes well (and The Joker doesn't delete the source code), we will be ready for the upcoming Steam Next Fest. You will be able to play Act I, learn the basic mechanics, and, of course, suffer the commentary of your new best friend. THE JOKER: "Friend? Don't get confused. I am your jailor. But I admit that... I am curious. Will you be capable of entertaining me?" Add Alonitaire to your Wishlist right now. You wouldn't want to keep The Joker waiting when he opens the gates, would you? See you at the festival! (End of transmission)Read full article on Community Announcements (Kryon Harts)
