Roam the decayed streets of Blight Doctors as a paranormal plague doctor, curing diseases and vanquishing spirits with friends through proximity chat.

About this game

This is a lethal-like dark fantasy co-op occult detective game where deduction and banishment are not done for you. When you discover what sort of spirit haunts this forsaken city, you alone must be the one to abjure it, by any means at your disposal, sinful or sanctified.

  • Burn a ghost's body, or help it find peace.

  • Atone for the sins of forgotten kings, or destroy their graves.

  • Cure a plague... or kill the afflicted.

However, a ghost is not a ghost without a name, and every haunting encountered in Blight Doctors has a life and a history impacting the city of Seracheim. Characters will comment on the curses plaguing each night, and their clues are vital to uncovering the identities of ghosts, the locations of artifacts, & the source of an ancient blight.

Each successive night will see a new set of hand-crafted, but procedurally placed stories and curses fill the city streets. These narrative legos all interact, and can take the shape of plagues, monsters, haunts, & mysteries. Each provides challenges & choices beyond the average friend-slop.

And if you break enough curses, the city might just stand another day.

Blight Doctors is a co-op, proximity chat game at its core, but is balanced for 1-5 players. This is a co-op game where the players play with eachother, not simply adjacent to eachother. For example:

  • Share clues, let the gang split up, or protect eachother with lanternlight and salt lines!

  • Perform medicine and make questionable elixirs for eachother!

  • Diversify player skillsets in co-op through a player loadout & skill tree!

  • Expand the skill tree by collecting codex pages between nights!

  • A dynamic clock, not a set time per-night, progresses as your team antagonizes spirits or fails deductions!

  • When you die... haunt your fellows as a ghost, and continue to collect clues!

  • When others die... carry their corpses, for experimentation, or for offering to demons!

This is the fourth game in The Planar Danse, expanding a world of 1.6 million written words, and it is created by a single developer & world-builder. (me!) I've done my time in AAA, as well as freelance work with Larian/Baulder's Gate 3 & Silent Hill developers, and my inspirations in occult mythology, lovecraftian/gothic fiction, & TTRPG narratives are not hidden. With this, Blight Doctors expands upon the black magic mechanics of the previous choice-based narrative, Apollyon: River of Life, as well as the world of the previous games, with a greater focus on polish, longevity, & atmosphere.

Join the Planar Danse discord & newsletter to report bugs & feedback, this helps the game be the best it can be!

After the apocalypse, who cleans up the mess?

    What is the Planar Danse?

“Atmosphere, not action, is the great desideratum of weird fiction. Indeed, all that a wonder story can ever be is a vivid picture of a certain type of human mood.”– (H.P. Lovecraft, Notes On Writing Weird Fiction)Hey all! I'm K.S. Morii, the haunted dreamer whose haunted scrivenings pen the Planar Danse. :))Find all past Planar Danse entries here!TPD is a universe that bends the rules of reality, and then takes them as seriously as planar law ought to be. From its origin in TTRPG, the sixteen-and-one worlds of the Danse expand within works written & digital, with more stories on Steam & ebooks in the works. It started more than 8 years ago coming up with mixing tabletop games such as D&D, Pathfinder 2E, Call of Cthulu, World of Darkness, & Blades in the Dark when creating a new setting & campaign for my loyal group. Since then... it has grown to be many times larger than we had ever imagined. Four games, a novel, 1.7 million written words, & the pace has only picked up in recent years! Behind all of this is my driving vision for fiction, and what it means to write it. Read on to hear the story. The KSM/TPD approach to fantasy...At some point, somewhere, every emotion was felt, lest we fail in its description. For a book to be written and read, the human experience was encoded within; which is to say, the thoughts were real, the feelings were real—as much as any others.Moreso; for they are shared.Fantasy does not tell children that the monsters are real; they already know the monsters are real. Instead, it tell them that they can be killed. In effect, the great and wondrous magic of a series such as Lord of the Rings, is not that a cataclysmic evil from before the world began created an agent of evil which threatened all mortals, it was that the destruction of a single ring could save the world. Wouldn’t you like all your problems fixed by the drop of one trinket?Stories, to this effect, act as a lens of comfort, a veneer over the stories of human experience that migh...
