Engage in this action-packed horror experience as you try to get the best time possible! In this game, you must

Losing lives takes away from score!
Maps and enemies are randomly generated in a way where it's challenging but still fair, allowing unique runs each time while maintaining similar difficulty!

The goal is to get a P+, which will be quite the challenge...

Gameplay Details:

In Depths of Deceit, you have to run around, avoid getting caught, and collect all orbs as fast as possible!

You have abilities; meaning you can speed up when you need it! But be careful, you may not have access to these powers all the time.

You can collect special orbs to stun or reveal enemy locations! You sometimes need to think about when to use them!

Levels generate randomly! This includes enemy stats and behavior. Difficulty is not dependent on size. Meaning you can have a massive map and have the same density of special orbs and enemies!
You will get a rank (at the end of arcade mode)! Try to get a P+ by getting an S on lap 1 and 2. (NOTE: Lap 1 and Lap 2 grades are separate)

Speaking of lap 2, when you collect all the orbs, the portal opens up. You can beat it there or go through a different portal that respawns the orbs and makes the game more difficult.

    Lap 2 Part 2

Lap 2 is finished and fully working. The one chance system works as so. When lap 2 is enabled, and the portal has spawned, you will only have on life to get to that portal or to get all the orbs again. If you make it to the portal without collecting all orbs, you will guarantee to go up a rank but max out at an S. If you fail, you go down a rank. Simple. Play it safe and enter the portal or take a risk and go for that sweet sweet P rank. What would be the point of not just going for the P if I haven't died yet? There is no safety net and you will lose your S rank if you die... And it will show that you died during lap 2 in results.Patch Notes:Added one chance system to lap 2Enemies move againAdded screen shakeFixed portals spawning on top of each otherAdded spawn effect for portalAdded spawn effect for orbsAdded new screen for dying on lap 2Added icon for win state in results menu

    Lap 2!

Lap 2Lap 2 is a new feature for Arcade Mode where all the orbs will spawn again and you can collect them all to get special ranks. It does not guarantee special ranks, but it does guarantee a higher rank. Or you can skip to the portal to get normal ranks. The new highest rank is a P rank! The portal spawns where the player spawns -- in the center of the map.It isn't fully finished. I want to add:Portal spawn animationOrb respawn animation and delayHarder enemy statsAnd make death division on lap 2 separate from lap 1Fix the special rank soundsPausingPausing now exists! Change your settings on the go! Press escape to open the pause menu, which will have the same screen as the settings menu on the main menu, you can quit to main menu there.ControllerControllers now vibrate when collecting special orbs, using abilities, or enemies stomp near you.Feels like a small update, after all, this post is pretty short... but this means we are extremely close to working on Chapter 1 and releasing a demo! And it does add content. The biggest update in a long while!I can notDelete this table

    2 new features

The New Features:Ability BarThe Ability Bar is a simple addition. It shows how full your ability is, when you can use it, and how much time it has left. It goes away when the bar is full. Nice way to visually see when you can use the ability.Quick Turn AnimationQuick Turning (space bar) now has a very fast animation AND a (awkward) sound to accompany it. Now it doesn't feel like you teleport. On top of this, I decided to make some other tiny improvements. Play movement should feel MUCH smoother now!

    The Great Refactor is coming...

We still don't have any cover for these updates yet.The Great Refactor:We decided that the code for Depths of Deceit was SO bad that it warrants remaking almost all of it.Expect bugs, things to not work, or random crashes for a while. But, in the end of this journey, game development should go by much quicker and smoother, and the game will likely be more optimized. This may take a while and make a lot of changes, but still is marked as a small update since we are not adding anything new, just fixing what we've already made.Just an update on the state of the game for beta playtesters.
