About this game
Trick-Taking with Style!
Pick trumps, follow suit, take control, and win enough tricks to make your bid. Overtrick is a trick-taking deckbuilder based on Bridge, and similar to card games like Hearts, Spades, or Euchre. Each hand, you’ll have to win more and more tricks to advance. But you’ll also acquire special abilities to help you along the way.
Build Your Deck
Take control and win every trick of every hand, by building up an unstoppable deck of special abilities, including:
HONOR CODE. Control the flow of the game by forcing your opponents to play face cards.
TREASURE HOARDER. Hoard diamonds to trigger trick bonuses.
BRIDGE OVERLORD. Confound your opponents by forcing them to give you their highest card.
Ruff, Flush, and Overtrick
Earn additional rewards for every overtrick you make above your contract, and acquire even stronger abilities.
Outplay High Society
In the gilded penthouses of the Roaring 20s, cardplay separates the elite from the out-of-luck. Dazzle high society with your incredible trick-taking. But don’t get carried away! Your opponents are set on winning at all costs, and have a few special abilities of their own.
This isn’t your grandma’s Bridge club… this is Overtrick!

Introducing Leopold and Reginald + First Post-Launch Patch
Overtrick launched on Monday, and tons of challengers have stormed the House of Diamonds! If you’ve managed to defeat Ada and Zelda, congratulations, and well played! But in the Hearts Tourney, you’ll find some new opponents, including the proprietors of the House of Spades: Leopold and Reginald.Next week, you’ll find Leopold and Reginald in the Clubhouse. They can be a tricky pair to take on, so be careful during the Small Slam and Grand Slam! While many other characters’ designs originate from 1920s fashion prints, Leopold and Reginald were inspired by photos from the era. I tried to stay true to the style of other characters, while also putting my own unique spin on them!Patch NotesI also addressed several issues reported by players, including:Steam Deck fixes for Swap and Mirror Mirror. Fixed an issue with Swap, where gamepad controller and Steam Deck players were unable to trade more than 1 card from each hand. Also updated Mirror Mirror to make it easier to see which card is selected.Windowed Mode. You can now set the “Display Mode” in the options menu, so you can easily switch between fullscreen and windowed mode.Volume Sliders. The sliders in the options menu now ignore mouse scrolling (sorry to everyone who accidentally changed the volume as they scrolled through the menu!).Toggle Off Background Visual Effects. For players who don’t like the background shimmer effect in the Shop and in Overtrick Mode, you can now turn it off in the options menu.Reward Card Stamps. Several cards guarantee you the 8 and 9 of a suit (“Hidden Gems,” “Super Spades,” “Clubs are Wild,” or “Hearts in Harmony”), but sometimes the Reward for a Small or Grand Slam would include cards with the 8/9 stamp, even if you had these cards (which isn’t much of a reward). This should almost never happen now.Demo Achievements. Players who had played the demo a lot reported certain achievements being permanently locked for them, even after purchasing the full game. This update should now unlock tho...Read full article on Community Announcements (achiyalabopa)AnnouncementsOfficial

Introducing: Lillian and Ruby
Get ready to welcome Lillian and Ruby to Overtrick! For the week of August 10, they’ll be waiting for you in the Clubhouse.Backstory and Art ProcessLillian and Ruby are teacher and pupil, and bring elements of the game of Hearts into Overtrick. Like many of the characters in Overtrick, their designs are borrowed from French fashion magazines of the 1920s.As the solo developer of Overtrick, I do all of the art for the game, even though I feel more confident on the programming side. So I’m really grateful to the unknown artists who created these illustrations and prints, and always excited to bring their characters to life.Part of doing that is actually “animating” these characters. For Lillian and Ruby, I turned to Disney for inspiration. Lillian’s collar and long nails reminded me of Maleficent from “Sleeping Beauty,” so I leaned into that when drawing her in different poses. To contrast that, I drew Ruby’s poses from “Snow White” and “Alice in Wonderland.”Other UpdatesWith the August 24 release date coming up rapidly, I’m mostly busy addressing bugs and quality of life issues!Translation Issues. Fixed a bunch of issues in the German, Chinese, and Portuguese translations. Thanks to everyone who found and reported these issues!Steam Deck/Controller Improvements. Various improvements to controller usage, especially around activating special cards.Shop Increase Alert. Added some explanatory text whenever shop prices increase (they increase each time you win a Match).Settings Menu Improvements. Updated the look of the settings menu and other menus. As always, thank you so much to the Overtrick community for all your feedback and support! Overtrick in Chinese, French, German, and Portuguese!
Overtrick's Demo is now available in five languages! Thanks to our wonderful translation team, you can now play in Chinese, English, French, German, or Portuguese. If you see any issues or want to suggest changes, I’d certainly appreciate you letting me know (join our Discord server!).We also localized the game trailer for all languages, and I wanted to write about making that happen! Normally, a game trailer is put together with recorded gameplay footage. If your game has text in it, then you have to record and edit gameplay across each language you want to localize for.For Overtrick, the trailer is actually auto-generated by the Godot game engine. Originally, I did this so that I could keep the trailer up-to-date with new art and animations from the game (and because I didn’t want to learn how to use video-editing software). Now, it makes localizing the trailer as simple as setting the locale, and running a script!Additional UpdatesGodot 4.7 Upgrade. Overtrick now runs on Godot 4.7, taking advantage of some of the new UI/Control options.Improved Launch Speed. The game should now launch a little bit quicker.Special Card UI Improvements. I made a number of improvements to certain special cards, including improvements to the UI and animations for cards like Bridge Overlord, Swap, and Hearts in Harmony. Triple Header, Turn the Tide, and Shine Bright should now also be a little easier to use, after some attention to how their icons work in the top-left. The screenshot below shows Bridge Overlord in action, as well as the Triple Header indicator showing that 2 of 3 tricks have been won by the player.Options Menu. I added Language, VSync and Master Volume to the options menu, and updated the UI.Thank you to our wonderful translation team for such a quick turn-around on localization! And as always, thank you to our wonderful player community. Pop by the Discord server and say hi!Read full article on Community Announcements (achiyalabopa)
