About this game

“Insecta Vindicta” (Latin “Insect Revenge”) is a revenge game about a fly and other insects taking on The Humans using savvy, speed and skills, ultimately leading to the destruction of humanity.

Try the free demo to experience one location as a fly! In the full game will have a host of playable insects enacting revenge on human kind all around the world.

DESTRUCTION

Cascading chain reactions triggered by reading the environment. Every room is a loaded trap waiting for a tiny spark. Everyday objects are used to cause mayhem.

REVENGE

Insects vs. the people who deserve it. Political subtext is baked into environment design and narrative. The real monsters in this story wear expensive suits.

OBSERVE, ACT, SCORE

Survey the environment, find interactive objects, and study human behaviour patterns before committing to a plan. Knowledge is your most dangerous weapon.

Trigger chain reactions, use each insect's unique abilities, and navigate the dodge minigame when humans fight back. Every execution attempt is dynamic and happens on the fly.

Combo points, hidden objectives, and a secret 'nuclear option' per level — a perfect completion designed for community discovery. Built for replayability and funny moments.

    Update to version 150526

Hi there, hi there, HI THERE,We've updated the build in preparation for our next public outings, namely: BitSummit Kyoto and Re:Publika Berlin as we continue our hunt to find a publisher and annoy humans. Here's some highlights of the changes!:Cat enemy has a less gruesome reckoning. Too many people complained about the abuse of an EVIL yet DIGITAL cat so we toned that all down Update to the man's AI & balancing. This is by no means done and will need more work for the full game, but he should be a little more aggressive when you want him to and less in-your-fly-face when you don't want him to be Rework minigame. Less hitting, more other actions. Its a bit repetitive at times. Will continue to improve it in the full game still also Make the MAGA hat flammable. This had to be in the build. Thank you dear players for inundating us with this request. Its done. Updated the UI to match PROFESSIONAL FEEDBACK from someone that does this kind of thing for AAA studios Reworking the Bug Vision focus ability We did a Japanese version of the game for BitSummit (although haven't replaced the VO, oops, my bad) Many little gameplay tweaks, improvements and fixes. Not too shabby for ZERO working budget, eh?To-do still: We want to do a fully fledged tutorial mission where you play a sweet baby fly larva (awww)We should still do a Credits RollPrepare for the next big event: Gamescom Cologne. Until next time. Stay frosty and support your local venues.Seb

Dev Diary III - What is INSECTA VINDICTA

What the hell INSECTA VINDICTA and where do we want to go with it?From the pitch deck:“Insecta Vindicta” (Latin “Insect Revenge”) is a revenge survival game about a fly and other insects taking on The Humans using savvy, speed and skills, ultimately leading to WW3 and the destruction of humanity.  We want to blend action gameplay of playing as a host of insects taking on massive humans and solving logic puzzles.Major inspirations include: Shadow of the Colossus (giant dude vs tiny thing), Tony Hawks Pro Skater in terms of gameplay feel and music (more on this next week) and games like I Am Toast or Goat Simulator. Also the Burnout Series inspired us a lot in terms of destruction and chaos.A bit anarchic, but not random. Silly fun, but logical thought is required. The best solutions can be found by finding a safe spot, watching the flow of the humans and their actions and performing actions that combine to devastating consequences. Where do we want to go with the game? We're currently looking for a publisher willing to take a bet on an old games industry veteran and his band of miscreants trying to make a wild game about insects killing all of humanity that wears its politics on its sleeve. We're anti-fascist and the game represents this stance. We believe that creating art in all its guises is an inherently political act and to be able for people to continue making the art they want, fascism needs to be fought in the streets and in the art we create. If and when we find a publisher we intend to introduce a host of playable insects, each with their own mechanics and gameplay styles and objectives, scattered around the world, killing humans of all creeds. What insects would you like to play while taking out dumb human monsters? Leave a comment below!Next time I want to talk music as its been a core influence on the style and themes of this game.Stay frosty

Dev Diary - II - Preparing for Bitsummit in Kyoto

Hello again,Look at this! Two in a row already. Lets see how long I can keep this exercise up of posting dev diaries.Part of the reason is to force myself to make progress on the game against all odds*Bitsummit Kyoto! We've been invited to participate as part of the German studios delegation for Japan's premier indie games dev event. As the game draws on some Japanese influences in terms of Kaiju monsters (the humans) as well as us planning to have a level set in Japan, we couldn't miss out on this opportunity (plus the food is ace) so we're going to Japan, baby. The GameFor that we want to update the game build and this week we specked out all the changes we want to do in the next two months before this event, including:A new intro level that teaches some of the mechanics and kick-starts the narrative. Its going to be grossRework of the hit-avoidance/destruction mechanic & mini-game. Its much too repetitive and a pain to useRework of the Cat Section. Although its not a real cat, its gathering too much negative reactions so going to tone this down a bit. Some AI improvementsMultiple quality of life improvements and destructibility of more objectsAdding a credit rollA Japan-specific build with new VO (by yours truly)and a few more bits and bobsAs well as one more surprise to try and convince some Japanese publishers to invest in the game. That's it for this week. Next week I hope to discuss another upcoming event and maybe post about the game Swag we have.Best, Seb x*odds are a) having a full time job b) having a family and a social life and c) having finite cash reserves to do this with.
