The court is peaceful after dark. Just you, a ball, and a whole lot of crickets. You put in the hours every evening. While your friends are out partying, you're on the grind. But tonight... you don't feel quite so alone.

Join a lone player on the late-night basketball court in Midnight Hoops. This 2026 indie game from netshrub blends adventure and simulation as you hone your skills under the stars, away from the party crowd.

About this game

WARNING: Prepare for a challenge. The core gameplay in Midnight Hoops is shooting hoops, and it is realistically DIFFICULT, but rewarding to master.

ALSO NOTE: This is a SHORT game (~1 hour story). It is a linear, narrative and atmosphere-driven game, although there are practice and challenge modes for pure hoop-shooting gameplay.

The court is peaceful after dark. No one around to disrupt your focus. Just you, a ball, and a whole lot of crickets.

You're a high schooler with terrible grades. You're banking your college admissions on a basketball scholarship, so you put in the hours every evening. While your friends are out partying, you're on the grind. But tonight... you don't feel quite so alone.

Fix for constant player movement - Jun 7 2026

I have identified and fixed a probable cause for the movement bug that many people have been reporting. Since I could never reproduce this bug locally, I can't know for sure if it is fixed until I hear from you all, but I have removed a bug where the game would identify and read input from any device that could be considered a "joystick," which includes many things that you might not expect. I believe that any player who unknowingly had a "joystick" device connected had that interfering with their movement. Now the game will only recognize Mouse & Keyboard, and gamepads (controllers). I really hope that this clears up the game-breaking issue that many of you have been encountering. If you still see a bug where you can't stop moving backwards/sideways or any other direction, please let me know!

    Leaderboard score reset

I'm very sorry to all of you who worked hard to get a top spot on the time trial leaderboard. Unfortunately, there was a bug where all 2-pointers were being counted as double 2-pointers, leading to inflated scores. Since I have fixed this bug, any future players won't stand a fair chance at beating your scores, so I have to wipe them.I'm sorry if you put in a lot of effort to climb the board, but everything will be working correctly and completely fair now.Happy shooting, team.
