    Patch 0.95 is out now!

Salvēte dear Roman Citizens! I know this update has taken a little longer than expected, but the new World View required me to rework quite a few of the game’s underlying systems. The positive side of this is that the way Gladiators, Lanistas and Doctores are handled is now much more modular, which also opens the door for potential future systems such as transfers between Ludi and much more. I also decided to take the opportunity to upgrade the game from Unity 2022 to Unity 6000.3 LTS, giving the game a much more modern foundation and allowing for further performance, visual and technical improvements going forward. I know that in my last post I mentioned that improvements to Tactics and Blendshapes would be included in this update. However, I decided to postpone those until the next update, which I intend to dedicate entirely to combat, tactics and Gladiators. These are such integral parts of the game that I feel they deserve an update of their own rather than being squeezed into this one. The update is fully compatible with existing save games. However, some records and historical information from before this update may be missing, as certain data required by the new World View was simply not tracked by older versions of the game. From this update onwards, that information will be properly recorded. New Features & Major ChangesAdded a brand-new World View, allowing you to explore other Ludi, Gladiators, Lanistas, Doctores, historical records, seasonal statistics and more.Added a new Information system for other Ludi. Your knowledge of rival clubs and their Gladiators will now depend on how much information you have gathered about them.Added a new Ludus Upgrade: the Spy, which ties directly into the new Information system and helps you gather more knowledge about other Ludi.Added opponent information to the Pregame Selection screen, giving you more insight into the Ludus you are about to face.Added Gladiator traits to the Pregame Selection tooltip, making it easier...

    Patch 0.94.3 is live!

Salvēte Esteemed Roman Citizens!I had initially planned to wait and release a much bigger update, but some of the new features I’m currently working on are rather extensive and need a bit more time. So I figured I would instead release a smaller, but still significant, update with everything that is already ready for you all.Patch 0.94.3 Patch NotesAdded Twitch Integration! Gladiators in the Ludus Exchange can now automatically be renamed based on your selected Twitch settings, while spectators in the Arenas can be named after viewers and display their Twitch messages as chat bubbles directly in the game.Armour and shields with colours will now be coloured based on your Ludus banner background colour.Improved the overall economy management of AI-controlled Ludi.Improved the logic behind how the AI buys, equips and sells equipment.Fixed a Multiplayer bug that could cause the AI to not select its strongest available Gladiators when facing clients.Reworked Heavy Training so that traits gained from it are now based entirely on the traits of the Doctore. This means no more automatically gaining traits such as Athletic, Strong or Weapon Master unless the Doctore actually has them.In return, Gladiators can now continue to gain traits from their Doctore even after reaching their maximum trainable STR, END, AGI and VIT.Added new workout animations for Gladiators currently undergoing Heavy Training.Fixed a visual bug that showed Heavy Training as a teachable trait when selecting a Gladiator as Doctore. This was only visual and did not actually work.Fixed an edge-case bug that could result in an incorrect number of Ludi in a league, with some leagues ending up with more or fewer than 16.Furthermore, I’m all for transparency, so here is a list of what I’m currently working on and what you can expect to see in the upcoming Patch 0.95:New World View – View other Ludi, Gladiators, Lanistas, historical records and seasonal statistics.New Ludus Upgrade: Spy.Pregame information about...

    Patch 0.94 is out!

Salvēte Lanistas! You asked for it - so I delivered!I’m incredibly excited to announce that Ludus Magnatus now features a brand-new Ludus Designer, allowing you to finally create the Ludus of your dreams with the name, colours, banner, and overall look exactly how you want it.This update is fully compatible with your existing saves, but with the amount of new content, balancing changes, and improvements included, I highly recommend starting a new playthrough to experience everything from the beginning. New Features & Major ChangesAdded the Ludus Designer, allowing you to create and customize your own Ludus designs using a fully featured built-in editor. You can also upload your own 512x512 PNG image.Added a new Ludus Upgrade: the Antiquarian. Market progression is now tied to the Antiquarian, with each upgrade unlocking access to higher equipment tiers.Reworked Market progression. Higher-tier equipment must now be unlocked through the Antiquarian, and a new Market Focus dropdown lets you prioritize which unlocked tier you want to appear more frequently.Added Fixed and Balanced starting Gladiator options.Fixed: The existing system, where some Ludi begin with stronger Gladiators than others.Balanced: All starting Gladiators are pooled together and distributed evenly between Ludi based on their overall strength, creating a much more balanced starting point.Added the ability to buy and sell multiple items at once.Added inventory paging to the Market stash when the player owns more than 24 unique items.Added a new Doctore tooltip when hovering over Retire as Doctore, showing which traits the Gladiator could potentially teach. Gameplay & BalanceIncreased the Scout's Female recruitment focus from 25% to 50%.Reduced the maximum Vitality cap from 95 to 90, as late-game Gladiators were surviving too frequently.Reduced Dirty Fighter damage over time from 25% to 15% of damage dealt.Dirty Fighter damage over time will now stop immediately once the opposing team has been defeated,...
