About this game

A door that opens to places it shouldn't. Research labs, a darkened suburban street, endless tiled pools, and the yellow glow of lights no human was meant to see.

The Hollow Complex is an action filled survival thriller inspired by the Backrooms. Dive into a dark and twisted rendition of internet folklore that actually allows you to fight back. Explore a web of interconnected locations, complete quests for an odd cast of NPCs, and find new equipment/tools to help you on your journey.

PICK YOUR DESTINATION

All doors lead home. Find new entrances to your Safe Room as you progress. Make food, take a shower, or listen to music before your next outing. You can even return to any previously visited location to collect supplies and complete requests.

FIGHT BACK

Use firearms, melee weapons, and your feet to even the odds:

DYNAMIC SURFACES

Keeping yourself clean is a top priority:

Spray enemies and the environment with a variety of liquids in real time:

Use tools on dynamic surfaces to ignite fires, shock enemies, and more:

ENEMIES

A wealth of different enemies, all with their own strengths and weaknesses:

(and many more!)

TAKE A BREAK

Brew coffee and microwave food to prepare consumables for your next outing:

Explore at your own pace. But be aware that you are not alone, and resources are scarce. There is no in-game map. Just your memory, your notes, and the human instinct to survive.

    Update #3 - It's a big one!

An update has been pushed for The Hollow Complex. Patch notes below:Reworked all UI to provide far superior KB+M AND Gamepad support. This includes the Inventory, Water Cooler, Radio, Coffee Maker, Microwave, Safe Room Door, and Mr. Hollow's Shop. Menus are fairly easy to navigate and most will close with B/Escape now.The player can no longer open other menus while using a keypad. Keypad now accepts A/X on gamepad as selection inputs. When reading a Discovery or using a terminal, taking any damage will now exit the menu so players know they're being attacked.Claymores are no longer an instant death. You have around 1.5-2 seconds to leave the area of effect or else the player will take 60 damage. When inventory is full, cooked food will now be stored in the Item Box.Ammo no longer counts toward your inventory slots and is displayed in a new panel inside Inventory.Fixed a bug where enemies could turn to face you as they were getting up.Fixed stacking issues in Item Box.People seemed to be very confused at the first electrical button puzzle. Added another tutorial message to push them in the right direction.Wall Clumps will no longer instantly kill the player. These should be treated more as environmental hazards than as dangerous enemies. If you get pulled into its mouth, you'll still take a hefty amount of damage (and potentially die anyway).Removed sorting functionality from Inventory. It just wasn't very useful. Players can now press a button to eat fresh/non poison food without picking it up first.Odd Shotgun reload behavior should be fixed. Please report if you still have any problems. All food drops now default to Fresh when dropping from Inventory instead of getting dirty and inedible.Cold food can now be reheated into their warm variants through new Microwave recipes. The needles thrown by the Wretch Scientist now have FX to make them more noticeable. Some players thought hit detection was wrong when in reality they were getting hit by syringes.KNOWN ISSUES -There...

The Hollow Complex Demo and Kickstarter are LIVE!

Hello again, Wanderers!Hey everyone,I'm not gonna sugarcoat it, this is a huge moment for me. After countless late nights, debugging sessions that made me question my sanity, and more soda than any human should consume, The Hollow Complex officially has a Kickstarter campaign. And it's live. Right now. As you're reading this.Oh, and the demo? Also live. Right here on this very Steam page. Go play it!For those who don't know, I'm one person. One guy making this entire game. Every line of code, every light, every head stomp, that's me. Being a solo dev is the most rewarding and most brutal thing I've ever done, and I wouldn't trade it for anything. But I need your help to get this thing across the finish line. The Kickstarter isn't about fancy extras. It's about going all-in. I left my job to work on The Hollow Complex full time, and the funding keeps that going until the game is in your hands. The stretch goals are where the fun stuff comes in: better audio, more environments, more content. The core goal is simple: let me cook.Play the demo. If it gets under your skin even a little, consider backing the Kickstarter. And even if you can't back it, a share goes a long way. Seriously. Send it to that one friend who's always looking for the next horror game to lose sleep over. Post it somewhere. Yell about it. Whatever works. Thanks everybody! The Hollow Complex Kickstarter Pre-Launch is LIVE!

Hello Wanderers! The Kickstarter Pre-Launch page is now open! This means you can sign up for notifications when the campaign goes live on APRIL 7TH. My intent with crowdfunding at minimum is to fund basic necessities while work continues on the game. I've never been one for asking for support, so I thought long and hard about what things would make it worthwhile to back. Tiers will be available for viewing when the project goes live, but I can spoil a few things. I'm only one person and I don't have any external funding on the project so I decided physical goods are out of the question. So what could I do to entice you to back? Early-Bird Discount - There will be a tier limited to 75 backers that equates to a fairly decent discount on a key for the game on release. Wall of the Lost - A wall of polaroids showing faces of those who have gone beyond the Threshold and have yet to return. Get your face in the game! Become a Dead Wanderer - Write a note and become immortalized as one of the corpses our protagonist discovers. It would mean the world to me if you would check out the page and help support the game! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/thehollowcomplex/the-hollow-complex
