About this game
Red Rain is a single-player, 3rd-person RPG set in the ruins of a post-Yellowstone supereruption North America. Protagonist Allie must raise and protect her only daughter Mya from a poisoned earth, ravenous wolves, and other survivors.
The game features real-time combat, a story-rich narrative told through Allie and her daughter's eyes, and a world where players can explore the devastated yet beautiful landscape of what was once known as Montana.
A NOTE FROM THE TEAM
We're working hard to release the full game in 2026 and the demo will be out in time for US Mother's Day 2026. Wishlist to stay tuned for updates!

Red Rain Devlog #2
Hi all! Thank you so much for your interest in Red Rain and for being a part of the Small Loan Studio community! Our teams have been hard at work bringing this game to life, and we are thrilled to share that we are one step closer to doing that by releasing our latest demo! A few things to note before you jump in:What the Demo isThe Demo is actually just the first 1/3 of the whole game. It will introduce the main cast, world, and premise, as well as it will teach players our three primary mechanics: melee combat, stealth, and interacting with objects. The experience should last about 30 minutes, although some folks may take a bit longer than that.I also want to note that while we are so excited to share this iteration of the game with you, this demo does not fully reflect what’s going to be in our final build. We are still (and always!) looking for feedback to further refine what will be in the final version of Red Rain, as well as to incorporate any learnings into future games we make here at SLS. If you have anything you’d like to share with us about the demo, you are welcome to fill out this Google form HERE.With this in mind, here are a few updates that’ll be coming down the line! What’s Coming UpNew ArtOur phenomenal art director Fiona has created some new assets to make our levels and environments feel even more fleshed out and varied. Here’s a sneak peek of what you’ll find in future builds.Art from our Current BuildArt from our Upcoming BuildNew MechanicsYou’ll see that in our current demo, Allie is able to “crouch” to hide from incoming enemies, but she’s unable to move while doing so. Based on tester feedback, we will be adding a highly requested “crouch and walk” function to make this stealth mechanic even more fluid and intuitive!Bug FixesWe are aware that this demo may have some pesky bugs that snuck by us in QA, particularly with a few animations pausing mid-movement and a camera bug that occurs if the player gets through our first combat section withou...Read full article on Community Announcements (SabrinaTheStumpTTV)AnnouncementsOfficial
Red Rain Devlog #1
Hi everyone! I hope you all have been doing well. :) I first wanted to start by saying thank you for wishlisting Red Rain on Steam! Your support means so much to all of us, and we can’t wait to share this wonderful game with you all! For those of you who are new here, I’m Haley! I’ve been a writer at Small Loan Studios since 2024, working on titles such as The Ouroboros Express, the upcoming The Tūn-Gāst of Oakshaw, and now Red Rain, where I’ve had the great privilege of serving as the Creative and Narrative Director on the project. Our team is all-volunteer, and we’re primarily made up of entry and junior-level developers (devs) working to hone our craft, get some strong portfolio pieces under our belts, and learn what it’s like to actually make a game. This has been my first time working as a Game Director, and it truly has been one of the most rewarding, challenging, and meaningful experiences I’ve ever had in my life (which is kind of crazy to think about…well, write about, I should say). So, again. Thank you for being here. We’ve been working so hard on this game since last May (!), and we have a lot of exciting updates to show you:What’s New:DemoWe officially have a working demo!!! It currently features the first 20-30 minutes of gameplay and is more or less our “tutorial” section. We’ve been playtesting it internally and workshopping the combat and level design based on player feedback, and we’ve made a lot of really fantastic progress on it these past few weeks! With that being said (and if you’ve made it this far into reading), we are actually looking for play testers right now. If you’d be interested at all in testing for Red Rain, you can sign up HERE. You’d be expected to play through the demo section and answer some questions, so expected time commitment would be around 1-2 hours.Narrative ImplementationWhen Red Rain was first announced on Steam, only some of our cutscenes had been properly implemented (many just had two characters facing each other and ...Read full article on Community Announcements (SabrinaTheStumpTTV)
