About the Game

A 2000s retro-style psychological survival horror about a father fighting through shifting nightmares to reach the family he lost.

You were busy... your stories, your career, they were everything. The calls could wait. You promised you'd be home. Now you're here for them. Your wife and your daughter. But is it too late?

Retro psychological survival horror game in first-person...

Built to feel like the early 2000s. You'll need to keep pushing, down through the apartments, into the weeping sewers, and into places you didn't know you remembered.

But the walls don't stay still. They shift. They bleed into something else.

The combats are desperate...

Pipes. Bats. Knives. Cleavers. Axes. Anything you can find. And yes...

Firearms exist. Pistols and guns. But they're fragile hope, and every bullet is a choice you must make to survive.

You carry less than you wish you could...

Keys, healing items, tools, and puzzle pieces... all take space in your limited inventory. You’ll be managing what little you have, making uncomfortable choices, and trusting your gut when you decide what stays in your pockets.

Uncanny puzzles like half-remembered memories...

The puzzles won’t make sense to your troubled mind. Not at first. Clues and logic from a half-remembered dream. They seem simple at first glance, but unsettling once they click.

This is a rescue mission...

The only thing holding your walls together. And some things... some are heavier.

The monsters feel personal, as if they were born from sleepless nights and broken promises that you tried to ignore.

Beings that don’t want you to see what’s waiting at the bottom.

2 indie developers. 1 Nightmare about a man who won’t let go...

A strange, sad journey. We hope it stays with you.

Inspired by the haunting look of the PS2 and early Xbox 360 era, when horror felt heavier, louder in the quiet, and closer to the skin.

If this kind of horror speaks to you, we’d be grateful if you wishlisted the game. It truly helps.

“Flesh & Steel” Update is LIVE NOW

Hey everyone,THANK YOU!Since launching Saint of Chains, we’ve been reading your reviews, watching streams, checking reports, following discussions, and paying very close attention to how players actually move through this nightmare. Some feedback came from comments. Some came from reviews. And some came from watching players get cornered, lost, overwhelmed, confused, or frustrated in ways we knew we could improve. So for this update, we went far deeper than ever before. The Flesh & Steel Update is now live, and it is one of the biggest mechanical updates we’ve made to Saint of Chains so far. It changes how combat feels, how healing works, how you manage inventory, and how you navigate the world. And it’s all based on your feedback.Game systems can be deeply connected and dependent on each other, so changing one core mechanic often means touching many other parts of the game. It took time to go through the code, test these changes, and make sure they improved the experience without breaking something else in the process. But we did it. All thanks to you. Melee Blocking & Enemy StaggerOne of the biggest pieces of feedback we received was that melee combat needed to feel more physical, more reactive, and more deliberate. With this update, you can now manually block incoming melee attacks.Blocking gives you a new way to survive when you’re cornered, low on ammo, or forced into close-quarters combat. It is not meant to turn Saint of Chains into an action game. You are still vulnerable. You still need to choose your moments carefully and manage your stamina. We also added enemy stagger reactions.Successful blocks can now stagger enemies, creating brief openings where you can decide whether to fight back, reposition, or run.The goal: Make melee feel heavier, more dangerous, and more satisfying without losing the survival horror tension. We know it took a while, but hey, we’re there! Melee blocking and enemy stagger became one of the core mechanics of the game, and a lot of time ...

Update 1.1.0: Full Gamepad Support, Expanded Levels, Collectibles

Hey everyone,First of all, thank you. Since launch, we’ve been reading your reviews, watching streams, checking reports, following discussions, and listening closely to what players felt as they went through Saint of Chains.Update 1.1.0 is absolutely one of the most important updates we’ve released so far.It directly addresses some of the biggest and most repeated feedback we received after launch: full gamepad support, early level structure, exploration, hand-holding, replayability, collectibles, puzzle flow, and overall survival horror feel. This update really changes how Saint of Chains feels to play. And for everyone who was waiting for gamepad support before entering the rot…It’s here. Full Gamepad Support is now availableFull gamepad support. This includes gamepad controls across gameplay, menus, puzzles, inventory, documents, and interactions. Yep, the full player experience. We also added gamepad keybinding support, so players can adjust the controller layout more comfortably based on how they prefer to play.On top of that, we implemented a dynamic gamepad UI icon system. This means the game now properly displays controller button icons where needed, making the experience clearer and more natural for gamepad players.Saint of Chains was always built as a love letter to classic psychological survival horror, and we know many players prefer experiencing this kind of game with a controller. Now you can.Slight Aim Assist for gamepad players We also added a light aim assist system for ranged weapons when playing with a gamepad.Aiming with a controller should now feel more manageable, especially during tense encounters where every shot matters, but not easy enough to make you feel safe. The first two levels have been significantly expandedBased on player feedback, we made major changes to the first two main levels of the game: The Apartments and The Sewers. Both levels have been significantly expanded and made more non-linear.The gameplay path has been revamped, the flow...
