About this game
“The Keyless: Beyond the Door” is a linear, dreamlike, and surreal first-person journey. You are trapped in an infinite world that continually changes shape, as you search for meaning or an exit that may not exist.
A closed door with no lock and no walls blocks the path to freedom.
You've already been here, or so it seems... apparently you found a key but it didn't work... and now you don't remember anything.
During the journey you will experience a series of bizarre and symbolic situations:
you will read the skeletons' last thoughts
you will face simple puzzles and small challenges
you will run away from a ghost scary
you will witness bizarre alien battles
you will encounter a huge terrible rock monster
The gameplay consists of walking and running alternating simple challenges and puzzles with bizarre, metaphorical and symbolic situations, interpret what you see through the lens of dreams, life and death.
developed by a single person with unreal engine.

update 12/4/26
It's been reported that the rock monster near the end just stands still instead of attacking, but I checked and didn't encounter any issues. Maybe it's just when I updated to the latest version of the engine that it broke the AI path in the final build, so I just rebuilt it and it works for me. If it happens again, let me know. Thanks! update 7/4/26
Fixed the black screen issue after the first death. It was an issue with Steam achievements. When I updated to the latest version of the engine, the function broke because that had also been updated. No errors were reported by the compiler and the compilation succeeded, but in that specific case, it prevented the level from opening. Unfortunately when changing versions these silent errors can occur. Sorry for the inconvenience, please keep reporting if you encounter any problems. Update 5/4/26
Added a message clarifying that you need to press the button (quicktime) in the ghost section, and a few other fixes. IMPORTANT: I renamed the project, so the current save will no longer work, but it's not lost. To recover it, do the following: - Go to the "C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Local\FindTheKey2" folder - Copy the "Saved" folder - Go to the "C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Local\BeyondTheDoor" folder - Paste here the folder "Saved", replacing the old one Sorry for the inconvenience of having to move the save, but the renaming makes it necessary, If you don't have an old save or want to start a new game you don't have to do anything. Keep reporting if you encounter any problems, thanks! EddRead full article on Community Announcements (Edd)
