Venture into a world where humanity has vanished, and you're tasked with building a Digital Vivarium by observing and surviving. Explore ecosystems and document life on an Earth that thrives without human intervention.

About this game

Human-Authored Asset Pledge

ORGANICALLY AUTHORED:

VITA is built with human-made final assets. Models, UI, writing, audio direction, world content, and implemented game systems are authored, edited, and assembled by hand. AI tools may assist with planning, debugging, documentation, or workflow, but the final player-facing creative assets are not generative AI output.

About the Game

The world didn’t end. It is still happening.

VITA is a third-person exploration game set more than 10,000 years after humanity disappeared. You play as VITA, an autonomous archival machine within a living Earth that no longer needs guidance, but still rewards understanding.

Explore dangerous ecosystems. Observe wildlife and environments. Catalog what you discover. Unlock new abilities that allow you to travel farther, survive longer, and perceive the world more clearly.

This world is alive. It pushes back. And it doesn’t wait for you.

------

VITA is developed as a small, independent project. New biomes, systems, and creatures are added thoughtfully, with emphasis on balance and cohesion rather than rapid expansion. The world grows carefully and deliberately.

------

VITA is not about saving the world.

It’s about learning how to exist within it.

The record is alive. The present is sufficient.

Welcome to Terra Vivens.

Explore a Living, Post-Human Earth

The Earth of VITA is not empty, it is active, reactive, and unpredictable.

  • Vast natural biomes shaped by time and rewilding

  • Dynamic weather and environmental hazards

  • Wildlife that hunts, migrates, and responds to your behavior

Some regions reward patience and stillness. Others demand speed, awareness, and decisive movement.

Observe to Understand

Progress in VITA is driven by observation, not combat.

  • Study plants, animals, and biomes in real time

  • Learn behavior patterns, predator instincts, and environmental cycles

  • Risk short observation windows in dangerous areas for greater rewards

Stillness reveals detail. Hesitation can be deadly.

The Digital Vivarium

Not everything you discover remains in the wild.

At the edge of the world lies your Digital Vivarium: a growing, living archive space where cataloged species can be restored, studied, and observed in balance.

It is not a zoo.
It is not captivity.

It is reconstruction.

  • Recreate discovered species within a controlled ecosystem

  • Observe behaviors without danger

  • Unlock new interactions as your archive expands

  • Shape a garden of living memory

The Vivarium grows as your understanding grows.
Some creatures thrive only when others are present.
Some patterns only emerge in stillness.

Out there, the world pushes back.
Here, you reflect.

Catalog the World

Your discoveries form a living record of flora, fauna, biomes, and remnants of human history.

  • Catalog entries progress through multiple stages

  • Partial discoveries still provide meaningful rewards

  • Some entries can be fully resolved, others remain uncertain

Observation and discovery generate Attunement Energy, unlocking abilities that expand perception rather than force.

  • Faster observation under pressure

  • Improved awareness of predators and threats

  • Safer traversal through unstable terrain

  • Access to deeper, more volatile regions

Progression rewards judgment, timing, and understanding, not aggression.

You may complete the catalog.
But the world does not require it.

A World That Pushes Back

VITA is not a peaceful experience.

  • Natural predators test awareness and movement

  • Environmental dangers demand quick decisions

  • Some moments must be seized immediately or lost

Failure is not punishment.
It is incomplete understanding.

You adapt.
The world continues.

A Story Told Through Discovery

Humanity is gone, but not erased.

Scattered logs, abandoned systems, and reclaimed structures quietly linger.

There is no central narrator.
No forced exposition.
Only fragments. Patterns. Convergence.

An Experience That Lingers

VITA does not rush you toward an ending.

You may complete the catalog.
You may stop early.
You may simply explore.

The world continues regardless.

And the Vivarium waits.

Features

  • Third-person, observation-driven exploration

  • Dynamic ecosystems with predators and environmental hazards

  • Risk-reward cataloging and perception-based progression

  • A growing Digital Vivarium that restores and studies discovered species

  • Non-punitive failure system

  • Minimal UI and environmental storytelling

  • A living world that rewards attention, timing, and restraint

Dev Update: It's Behind Schedule... Surprise!

VITA Development UpdateMore Game, More Polish, More TimeHello everyone,It has been a while since I posted a proper development update, so I want to talk about where VITA is, what I have been working on, what you can expect next, and why I have changed the release date. The short version is that VITA has grown considerably. The important systems are getting stronger, the world is becoming more complete, and the various moving parts are finally beginning to behave like one connected game.... when they feel like it of course.VITA will now enter Early Access on November 16, 2026, as V00.01.0000. I know that moving a publicly announced date is disappointing. The calendar date was beginning to give me the stink eye, so I think being straightforward about it is better than forcing the game out. I need more time to bring the work together, test it properly, and release a version of VITA that I am comfortable putting in front of players.First impressions only come once! What have I been working on?Quite a lot.A great deal of my recent work has focused on making VITA feel like one connected game. That work includes:Improving the scanning experience, target behavior, and HUD feedback.Expanding fauna behavior, observation, presentation, and audio.Developing the Vivarium’s building, placement, population, and habitat systems.Controller support with haptic feedbackFully in-game cutscenes and cinematicsReworking menus, settings, controller navigation, and cursorless UI focus.Building out Home upgrades, customization, collections, and other progression features.Adding more environmental presentation, animation, audio, and interface polish.Creating better internal tools so the growing amount of game content can be produced and checked consistently. Some of this work is immediately visible, but most of it is not. Most of the work is "test -> patch -> test -> patch" all to fix why one particular tree bark shader can be seen from 1000m through a mountain. The screenshots accompanying this...

    VITA Early Access Release Timing

Hi everyone,I wanted to share a milestone that means a lot to me: VITA will be entering Early Access on July 20, 2026 with V00.01.0000.This first release is going to be very, very early access. I want to be honest about that up front. It’s not the finished game, and it’s not meant to be. It’s the point where I can finally start sharing VITA more openly, let people get their hands on it, and keep building it out from there. That said, I’m still really excited for this first release. V00.01.0000 will include the foundation of the game’s core loop, the systems needed to explore and progress, save/load and travel support, and the first real shape of the experience I’ve been working toward. It’s the beginning of VITA becoming the game I want it to be.I also want to be clear that there is still a lot more to come. More content, more polish, more creatures, more systems, more quality-of-life improvements, and continued updates after launch are all part of the plan. Early Access is not the finish line here. It’s the start of the public version of the journey. If you do jump in at launch, I hope you’ll think of it as helping shape something that’s still growing. I’m going to keep listening, keep fixing, and keep adding to VITA as steadily as I can.Thank you, seriously, for the support so far. It means a lot to be able to share this step with you.More soon.

    VITA: COMING SOON

Let the record show that VITA became visible on Steam with good spirit and intention on June 4th, 2026. If for no other reason than to prove what is possible, I am making this game. Two years ago, there was a spark that ignited a passion I had, unknown to me at the time, been keeping at bay: the passion to create something. Anything. To spend hours alone with my thoughts, huddled in front of a bright screen, poking at ideas until one of them finally started poking back. The spark was a creative challenge I gave myself: make a game inspired by the feelings, systems, and genres I have loved for years. Not a clone. Not a checklist. A strange little machine of my own, built from exploration, observation, discovery, progression, atmosphere, and the stubborn desire to see an idea through. At this point, VITA as a functional game is still very much a work in progress. Some parts are rough. Some parts are still being stitched together. But VITA as an idea, as a world, a structure, and a complete creative direction... is not a work in progress. The goal is simple: continue building until VITA becomes a complete game that other people can explore, understand, and hopefully enjoy.I do not have a fancy public roadmap to share today. What I do have is the foundation: the architecture, the scaffolding, the core systems, and a game platform built to support the next stages of development. If nothing else, I hope you will follow me on this journey with VITA.Thank you for being here at the beginning.~nchyflyer
