About this game

In the modern-day world of INTO THE AETHER, practitioners of powerful magic thrive in secret. You are Celeste Daybreak, one of many secretive magic wielders. Moving into a new town and looking to start fresh, her past catches up to her as a spell gone wrong sends her and her friend group into the spirit realm known as the Aether. What starts as a journey to simply save their lost friends spirals into a realm-hopping journey to save both the Earth and the Aether.

INTO THE AETHER is a love letter to the handheld Nintendo RPGs that defined the 2000s as well as classic JRPGs, combining both styles to create one unforgettable adventure. Experience a story full of humor and heart, as well as turn-based combat featuring timing-based mechanics.

Features

  • A vibrant art style inspired the 2000s era of handheld gaming. Immerse yourself in the world of the Aether with beautiful pixel art and detailed visual novel-styled character portraits.

  • An in-depth, heartfelt narrative about a high school friend group making the most of an absurd situation. In this tale of friendship, love, and magic, even the brightest characters will be forced to uncover dark truths.

  • Charming little interactions everywhere! If you love NPCs that say silly things, this is probably the game for you.

  • Engage in fast turn-based combat using real-time actions! Time your attacks to deal extra damage, and defend against enemy attacks and party-wide group attacks.

  • Unique and varied playstyle for each party member in the game, featuring simple to pick up but hard to master battle mechanics. Combine multiple skills together to unleash strategic combos. Try and get the most optimal damage rotation!

  • Overworld exploration with lots of equipment, items, puzzles, superbosses, and secrets to find all over!

  • Original soundtrack composed by Paul Riggio, ranging from intense high-energy battle themes to dreamy atmospheric overworld pieces.

  • Will they fight God at the end? I don’t know, probably not!

  • Can you hug a Sbug?

INTO THE AETHER Demo 1.0.2 Update Released!

Howdy everyone, today we're releasing INTO THE AETHER Demo Version 1.0.2! This has some integral bugfixes as well as a slight rebalancing of certain SP values for skills. This will likely be the final Demo patch before we restart development on the full chapter aside from small hotfixes that might pop up.Battle RebalancesUpon reaching high levels, it was becoming a challenge to manage SP within our internal playtests of the new zone that is not in the demo (Magick Highway). While this doesn't affect demo users that much since the average level of completion is Level 5-6, we noticed that if players did manage to reach high levels like Level 8-10, SP management would become an issue. SP values became so high that Celeste and Trinity would constantly devote turns to using SP Items. This is mainly because Celeste and Trinity use a lot of Percent SP scaling on their moves, which makes their SP costs scale with level. This unfortunately didn't pan out as well as we like, so we made changes to several skills to give them flat SP cost scaling.Additionally, we noticed the Arc Cosmos skill on Celeste was too effective, gaining the party a massive DPS increase with little risk. The skill has been nerfed for the long term health of the game to avoid damage creep, but to compensate it has a cheaper, flat SP cost now.Changes:The Skills Miracle, Soulfire, Blast, Ice Rain, and Splash have all had their SP costs changed to a flat 3 SP instead of using %SP scaling. (Trinity's upgraded spells still use %SP scaling.)Zap has been changed to cost 4 SP instead of using %SP scaling.Elementia has been changed to cost 6 SP instead of using %SP scaling.Arc Cosmos has been changed to cost 5 SP instead of using %SP scaling.Arc Cosmos Damage Buff is now 1.25x instead of 1.5x.Bugfixes:Resolved an issue with unselectable items in the settings menu using mouse controls. Fixed Clarence's "High Frequency" status not properly applying Lightning element.Fixed Clarence's "Counter Shield" not working pro...

INTO THE AETHER Demo 1.0.1 Update Released!

Hello everyone! Thank you for playing the INTO THE AETHER Demo! It's been amazing seeing our small but dedicated community play the game. We are releasing a new patch 1.0.1 to address some common bugs. This patch also contains mastery bonuses for all the party members!New Level 10 Mastery BonusesIt was always planned that all the party members would get small upgrades to their skills when they reached Level 10 (which is the level cap for the demo and the upcoming Chapter 1). This is known as a Mastery Bonus, and is a mechanic that will allow skills to get upgrades as you level up. However, in 1.0.0, these were missing. We're adding them now to reward players who decide to grind out to the maximum level cap!Celeste Mastery Bonus - Soulfire can target all enemies.Clarence Mastery Bonus - Double Tap deals more damage on it's second Attack. (Available only to Aetherblade Clarence)Trinity Mastery Bonus - Dawn Sigil's turn duration is extended, and the elemental damage increase it gains is slightly boosted.Bugfixes in 1.0.1The window for the game no longer displays (DEBUG) in it's title box.Removed instances where you would need to press a confirm button again in order to progress the Mother Bourde's enemy phase.Fixed instances where some console button prompts would display the wrong button for sprinting and opening the menu.Fixed an issue where Dark Thunder Strike skill's tooltip would mention it granting Paralyze status at an 100% chance, where it was actually a 50% chance.Fixed an issue where the Dark Ice Shatter skill's tooltip would be out of bounds from the text box.Fixed an issue where sometimes a party member would have negative SP values. The Victory Aftermath screen can now also be progressed by pressing Enter on the keyboard.Trinity's Dawn Sigil skill and it's subsequent follow-up skill Magick Burst has been improved and altered in various areas.Magick Burst's follow-up occurs faster for a more satisfying experience. Magick Burst has slightly improved VFX.Magic...
