About this game

YOU ARE NOT THE GODDESS. YOU ARE HER DUMBEST DUCK
In a transformed alien ocean, where flesh fused with steel and the deep began to dream, a machine-goddess grieves.
Her name is Thalassa. She was built as a daughter by Dr. Mulane Shinoise, and when a calamity took him, she woke alone and incomplete, with one impossible wish: to bring her father back. Piece by piece.
But the ocean is vast, and there are dimensions beyond it she cannot risk. So she sends her creatures, the Maimed Dumb Ducks as her hands in the dark.
You are one of them. Her most foolish. Her most devoted.
Dive into the biomechanical depths, recover the scattered fragments of a dead man, and carry them home to the goddess who cannot go herself. Help her understand how to rebuild him if such a thing can be rebuilt at all.
A story of grief and devotion, told through its most absurd servant.
What awaits in the deep
An ocean that feels alive
Explore a hand-crafted biomechanical sea of drowned ruins, fused flora, and creatures that are half-flesh, half-machine. Atmosphere over emptiness.

Pilot real submarines
Take the helm of abandoned vessels with true physics-driven handling. The deep is not meant for ducks on foot.

Rebuild a dead god's maker
Every dive recovers a fragment of Dr. Shinoise. Bring them to Thalassa and piece together the puzzle of who he was and how, or whether, he can return.
Serve the goddess
You are small, broken, and expendable. She is vast, sorrowful, and watching. The strangest bond in the sea.
"The ocean keeps its secrets well. But secrets, like pressure, have a way of rising."

29 devlogs, 15 months: the road so far
April 2025: a ship, an inventory, and some fish Devlog #1 went up on 23 April 2025. In it I said I had been building I Thalassa solo for a few months, inspired by No Man's Sky. What actually existed was a ship that moved, an inventory that held things, some fish running a wander script, and enemy AI that worked as long as you did not look at it too closely. Twenty-nine devlogs later that same ocean has physics, an economy, a story with an ending, and other players in it. One devlog roughly every sixteen days, for fifteen months, alone. This is the road. The ocean learned to push back The first real turn was physics. Ships stopped sliding around like objects and started answering to forces, inertia and the terrain they hit. The world learned to loop, so sailing past the edge brings you back on the other side like a small planet. A build system arrived, then modular construction with walls, weapons and a delete mode. The submarine went in. Creatures got a proper state machine instead of scripted paths, and enemy ships got spawner waves and health bars. It stopped being empty Then came the parts that make a world feel inhabited. Traders with a real economy behind them: prices that decay, stock that comes back, a price history for every item. Missions hooked into combat, building and exploration. Localization, first to five languages and then eight, with Japanese, Russian and Chinese. Save slots that remember your fleet, your fuel and your hull. Bodyguards you recruit by swimming up and boarding. Sea animals you can ride, with the camera banking into the turns. It started to hurt Survival landed late and changed everything. Oxygen drains faster the deeper you go, and running out is not a number reaching zero, it is the whole screen closing in on you. Refinery modules turn salvage into air and power, so every dive became a round trip you have to plan. Sea currents you catch with a boost. And a playable duck with a holographic dialogue system, carrying fragments of Dr. Sh...Read full article on Community Announcements (sanliuk)AnnouncementsOfficial
The I Thalassa Playtest is open
After 29 devlogs, you can finally play it Hi everyone, Manuel Hosseini here. I have been building I Thalassa in the open for over two years, one devlog at a time. Today it stops being something you watch and becomes something you play. You are not the goddess. You are her dumbest duck. In a transformed alien ocean you serve Thalassa, a grieving AI-goddess, and her one impossible wish: bring back the doctor who created her. Your job is to dive into the biomechanical depths and recover his scattered pieces. One at a time. What is in the build The full story. Seven chapters of the Dr. Shinoise mystery, localized in 8 languages, with a Lore Codex that keeps every fragment you recover. Online multiplayer. Ship against ship, board an enemy vessel, and bring your bodyguards and mounted sea animals into the fight. Invite friends straight through Steam. Battle royale. Drop far from everyone else and be the last one breathing. An ocean that fights back. Oxygen drains faster the deeper you go, and running out is a full-screen panic, not a number ticking down. Regions with their own identity. Each one is announced when you cross the border, with its own environment and a minimap that follows you across. Sea currents you can ride. Catch one with a boost and let the ocean carry you. Build and refine. Refinery modules turn raw salvage into power and oxygen. Traders hand out their own randomly generated jobs. Play it your way. Full gamepad support and every keyboard and mouse control remappable. How to get in Access runs through the Discord server, not through Steam.
