About this game
Allium Asylum is a byte-sized RPG that lovingly satirizes the tropes of modern indie games. Featuring a cast of crazy characters, bullet hell battles, and an original soundtrack. Best enjoyed with no context.
Allium Asylum is divided into 4 volumes. The free demo contains the entirety of Volume 1. Volumes 2-4 will be available to play in the full game's release.
This demo is just that-- a demo. An early version you can playtest. So expect changes and improvements in the future, which you'll also be able to download for free!
NOTE: Contains darker themes, mild flashing colors, and depictions of fantasy violence.

Patch NotesOfficial
A MAJOR UPDATE TO THE ALLIUM ASYLUM DEMO IS HERE!!
***0.50 Patch Notes:***Completely revamped the Recover mechanic to be much more involved. Player bullets now have a limited range, encouraging the player to not camp on one side of the screen. Added animations to the player’s turret (that purple triangle thingy) for when you heal and take damage respectively. Added an instructions screen upon launch that displays helpful controls.Updated the Tilesets for the Candy, Fish, and Huxley worlds, removing some of the noise to make the pixel art less busy. Lowered default master volume. Lowered volume of dialogue blips Fixed Glormbus’ flag Changed Huxley’s heart color FOR VISUAL CLARITYA jingle will play on the Select Volume screen if the player has reached the Vol. 1 credits going fast enough. Dialogue sounds properly stop playing when the textbox is closed.Fixed assorted typos.Removed Herobrine UPDATED BATTLE SYSTEM:Basically, we made RECOVERing more interesting than just pressing the \ key. You now have to return to Allium’s side of the screen and hover around a healing zone while still avoiding bullets. I have also limited the range of the player’s bullets… they will fade out after a certain distance, meaning you can’t just hit the enemy’s heart from across the whole screen; you’ll have to actually move towards it. Which, in turn, moves you further from the healing zone. Overall the goal isn’t necessarily to make the battles “harder”, just more involved. The fights are still pretty easy (especially for players who are experienced with bullet hells) on account of the fact that this is literally just the first fourth of the game. I’ve watched several people who are not that good at bullet hell games play this, and it seemed to be an appropriate level of difficulty for them, especially for the early game. For players looking for a challenge in this demo, you can seek out the secret boss fight, or attempt the alternate route. KNOWN ISSUES (sorry):> The 2 claw minigames are bugged, with the claw just plunging through all t...Read full article on Community Announcements (chris_roomba)
