    Wildborne August Newsletter 2026

Welcome to the August Wildborne Newsletter! 🌿Another month has passed in the wilds, and Wildborne continues to grow!August has brought some good progress behind the scenes, with our team continuing to shape the world, refine existing features, and bring new ideas to life. From development updates and creative additions to the incredible work being done by our Contributors, there’s plenty to catch up on.So, find your favorite spot beneath the Mother Tree, get comfortable, and join us as we take a look back at what August brought to Wildborne. 🩵🩵 Our First Donation!August also brought a particularly special milestone for us:Wildborne received its very first donation via our Ko fi! We want to give a huge thank you to our first donor for choosing to support the project. Whether the contribution is big or small, having someone believe in what we're building enough to directly support its development means a great deal to us.For transparency, the donated funds have been set aside and have not been spent. They are being reserved specifically for Wildborne's development needs. As the project begins receiving community funding, we want to remain open about how those funds are handled, when they are eventually used, as well as what they're being put toward. The funds from this donation have been set aside specifically to go toward a new animation set for our Big Cat model. We’ve selected an animator whose work we feel meets the level of quality we’re looking for with Wildborne while remaining consistent with the quality and style established by our current animator. We have officially been placed on their commission waitlist, and the donated funds will remain set aside in the shared business bank account until our spot becomes available and work can begin.Community members who would like to help support Wildborne's development can do so through our available donation/support options. Financial support is never required to be part of our community, but every contribution gives ...

    Wildborne June/July Newsletter

Welcome back to the Wildborne Newsletter! Grab a cozy spot beneath the Mother Tree and catch up on everything we've been building. From new features and world updates, to community creations and behind the scenes progress, here's what we've been up to over the past couple of months.Hello everyone,Welcome to our June/July development newsletter! The past couple of months have been some of the busiest we've had since Wildborne began. Much of our focus has been on strengthening the foundation of the game, refining existing systems, improving performance, expanding our environments, and preparing for the Public Alpha Demo. While not every update is flashy, these are the kinds of improvements that help build a stronger experience for everyone in the long run.One of our biggest priorities has been getting our upcoming alpha demo into the best state possible. As we've continued testing internally, we've found areas that deserved additional polish before putting them into more players' hands. Although this has meant adjusting a few timelines, we're confident the extra time will result in a smoother and more enjoyable experience to come, it isn't much longer now as we finish up some bug fixes!Over the last two months we've continued refining our internal structure, expanding documentation, improving moderation training, introducing our Creator Program, and strengthening the legal foundations that help protect both our contributors and the future of the game. While these aren't always the most visible changes, nor are they exciting to the community, they're an important part of building a healthy and sustainable project for years to come. Our community has continued to grow, and seeing so many familiar faces alongside new ones joining us each week has been incredibly encouraging. Every piece of feedback, bug report, suggestion, screenshot, and kind word from our testers and community genuinely helps shape Wildborne into something better. As always, thank you for your continued p...

    WBO May Newsletter 2026

Welcome to May's Newsletter! We’ve got some exciting new updates to share with you this month! As a reminder, we are still very early in development, and everything shown is currently a work in progress. All features, designs, and visuals are subject to change as we continue refining and building the foundation of Wildborne. We truly appreciate your patience, support, and enthusiasm as we grow this project from the ground up. Now, let’s dive in! Co Owner / Lead Developer-Hi again everybody! I'm really excited to show some new changes to our character creator, server improvements, UI changes and other technical updates.Overhauling the Character CreatorI've been working on completely remaking our character creator to make it more intuitive and functional.Markings are now put into their own individual layers that you can color either in batches or separately by checking them off. You'll also be able to adjust the positioning of layers and customize how they're stacked. Coloring your markings is done just using a simple color wheel, and there's also HTML/HEX color code support.I've been working to improve just the overall look and feel of the UI for the character creator as well. Sliders now use gradients and there's new dropdown animations. And overall, it's looking just a little less busy and confusing.Changing environment options for better previewing under specific conditions is now more advanced. The environment also gets saved with your character, so depending on your currently played character, it will change the vibe of the main menu itself. The environment options are especially useful for previewing your glowing markings/glowing eyes, and if you'd just like to see what your character looks like in dark conditions.Improving the Onboarding ExperienceWe've recently stripped out our placeholder Main Menu level, and we're now using ZIO's MotherTree map as the back drop. Going from main menu to in-game is also much more streamlined, and makes more sense. We've gotten ...

    WIBO April Newsletter 2026

April’s Newsletter is Here! 🌿As a reminder, we’re still very early in development, and everything shown is a work in progress. Features, designs, systems, and visuals are all subject to change as we continue refining Wildborne and building its foundation from the ground up.We truly appreciate your patience, support, and excitement as this project grows. Your encouragement means the world to us and helps keep this vision moving forward. This month, we’re excited to share a look at what we’ve been working on behind the scenes, give a few progress updates, and offer a glimpse at what’s ahead. Now, let’s dive in! ✨Hey ya'll! I've been pretty busy with some more technical aspects of the game which would be pretty boring to go in depth about. But I do have some small new developments that I'd love to share, and some small teasers.Prototype SwimmingConsidering the recent maps from our development team contain a lot of water, it made sense to start getting to work on swimming mechanics. The basic mechanics for swimming are in-place so far, and swimming works properly in multiplayer. But there's still a lot of work to go with it especially in terms of animations, effects and overall game feel.NPC Dialogue Options & InteractionsI've also been making some progress with the dialogue system. Working on dialogue options, and finding ways to tie dialogue into quests and mini-games. I'm trying to make this system fairly modular, so it can be easily used and manipulated by the map makers on our development team, and also for easy use in custom maps made by the community. It would be a lot of fun for our NPCs to be more than just static characters you talk to, so you can expect to see in the future more in-depth NPC interactions (like trading, mini-games, gifting, etc.)On Multiplayer and Replication...One major personal development of mine was getting markings to show up properly on map servers. Previously (including our first closed alpha test), when players joined everyone just had t...

    WIBO March Newsletter 2026

Welcome to March's Newsletter! We ran a bit behind for March's newsletter due to the holidays, but we’ve got some exciting new updates to share with you this month! Hi again everybody! This month was a major focus on performance improvements, back-end infrastructure, UI/UX improvements and game mechanics.Items, Rarities & Player InventoriesA lot of work has been put into our online features lately, especially how we handle items and inventories. We're still brainstorming what kinds of items we'd like to have, and what role they may play in the game and their interactions.Items that you find will have various interactions depending on what they are. Eating, drinking, examining and destroying items are supported right now. We're also thinking of ways to handle player storage and we'll eventually tie this into our den building mechanic/player housing so you have a place to store your items. For clans, we've considered using a "clan chest" where players in the same clan can deposit their items for other clan members to use (we've also talked about clan progression being it's own thing, like leveling and XP for clans, and quests that they have to complete collaboratively, but we'll share more about that in future newsletters). As we add more items to the game we'll also be thinking about our item economy. Items will have rarities like other RPGs so you can easily distinguish rare items from common items. This will follow the RPG color convention for rarities (white for common, green for uncommon, yellow for rare, etc.).What are items used for? Many things! As you explore, you'll find items all over the place. Items can be use...
