Explore a world of guns and superpowers in Make The Dead Dead Again. As Lux, fight through challenges to uncover clues about her missing mother while customizing both her gear and base with the loot you gather.

About this game

Lux didn't ask to have her DNA rewritten by a shadowy government agency. But since they did - she's going to make it count.

When a mysterious glitch hints that her missing mother Tess might still be alive, Lux sets out to find her. Standing in her way: the Redaction Commission and their ever-growing legion of reanimated undead. Good thing Lux comes loaded.

Fight Your Way
Tear through paranormal enemies using an arsenal of guns and genetically-engineered DNA attacks - Smite, Shiver, Shockwave and Swarm. Deploy Time Dilation, Dash and Enhanced Optics to outmanoeuvre anything the Commission throws at you. Level up to make Lux's abilities hit harder, and upgrade your weapons using parts looted from the enemies who no longer need them.

Loot Everything
Enemies don't just drop - they drop stuff. Harvest loot from every fight to unlock a customisation system built for eye candy, not filler: over 1,000 genuinely beautiful pieces spanning clothing, hairstyles, makeup, tattoos and more, each one designed to be shown off. Survive ambushes, raid supply crates, and collect full sets to unlock special rewards.

Make It Yours
Style Lux exactly how you want in the Dressing Room and Style Studio, then strike a pose - literally. Collect Flex cards from fallen enemies to unlock new poses, and turn any moment, anywhere in the world, into a photoshoot with Pose 'n' Shoot. Head back to The Lair - her home base - and spend your spoils on furniture and personal touches to make it feel like hers. Activate the wave spawner when you're ready for more, or hit the nightclub dancefloor to earn Looties and try your luck at the Lucky Loom machines for exclusive prizes.

Explore. Loot. Level up. And make the dead dead again.

DNA targeting improved + bug fixes

New features and improvementsCompletely rewrote the DNA targeting algorithm from scratch. Lux will now always turn to face an enemy in RHETT’s line-of-sight; i.e. whatever the game’s camera can see. The new algorithm looks for the most-centred enemies first, and then targets the closest one of those. She can now cast DNA attacks while running and the whole mechanic is much more performant. Shaders are now compiled the first time you run the game. This reduces stutter and hitches during performance-heavy gameplay such as combat. The blood effects on Lux are more intense, and they now fade as her health regeneratesTweaked the camera lag settings to smooth out camera movement (except when aiming, where lag is disabled)Added some guides to make the entrances in Lux’s Place easier to find. There are currently two entrances: one at the front and one at the back. Bug fixesThe video call from Dylan (Lux’s dad) in Kijimi Hospice was being rendered as a white square. Fixed.Footstep sounds were wrong when Lux was barefoot. Fixed. If Lux was hit and temporarily disarmed while firing her rifle, it would continue to fire. Fixed.Lux couldn’t jump after exiting Pose ‘n’ Shoot. Fixed. The Progress screen was showing graffiti as 1/28, even at the start of a new game. Fixed. There was a hole in the landscape in Lux’s Place. Fixed.Other changesGore and fan service are now disabled by default for new installs - you have to “opt in”.

New featuresThe Lair has been replaced by Lux’s Place and The Grindhouse - try them out!The Grindhouse is a new arena-style horde mode: endless waves of enemies, perfect for loot farming. Potentially challenging - use strategy.Lux’s Place is her new home which she can furnish and decorate using ShiniesLux now has a Roll mechanic for dodging. The default key is Alt (or left stick button on gamepads).Added Indonesian language support ImprovementsThe camera is now higher when Lux aims: more over-the-shoulder, less shoot-from-the-hipReduced the distance travelled when using Dash (but added Roll)Lucky Loom machines are now much more responsive: there’s no longer a delay before you can insert coins againIncreased Lux’s jog speed by 20%PerformanceThis build focuses on improving performance generally, but especially for older GPUs. Everyone should see at least a 10% increase in frame rate game-wide; older GPUs may see 20% or more.Bug fixesThe audio waveform above RHETT now appears again when she speaksThe diagram showing the gamepad controls has been restored

    Build 260811 is live

New features and improvementsPose ‘n’ Shoot: Lux can now be photographed in preset poses, anywhere in the game. This replaces the old Photo Mode and can be accessed via a remappable key at Options > Controls > Key Bindings > Global > Pose ‘n’ ShootA new “Flex” loot type is now dropped by enemies. Each Flex loot drop unlocks a new pose in the Pose ‘n’ Shoot library. God knows why enemies are carrying these.Added language support for Spanish (Latin America), Thai and VietnameseChanged Lux’s flashlight - it’s now a virtual light source that RHETT projects in front of her. This makes it much more stable and useful - it doesn’t flail around any more when Lux moves. The flashlight itself has also been removed so there’s less clutter on Lux herself. Lux’s weapons can now be hidden when not in use (Options > Gameplay > Lux > Hide Weapons)Lux can now go barefootDamage to Lux’s clothes is now persistent across sessions. She can always get a fresh set of clothes by visiting the Dressing Room.Performance improvements:Reduced memory requirements for all machinesImproved shadow performance on older GPUs if Medium quality preset is selectedBug fixesThere was a serious bug with controller support that I’d missed: it was completely broken when equipping clothes and style studio items. Fixed.Fixed a bug that overlapped clothing when Tactical Underdress was equippedSome of Lux’s shoes would disappear when she crouched. Fixed.Lux was often getting stuck just running over debris and the severed limbs of dead enemies. Fixed.Fixed mesh poke-through on the leather choker (in Dressing Room > Extras)Fixed issues when Lux wears high boots with long pantsNew known issuesAnimated graph no longer appears when RHETT speaks. This build moves the game to a new release of Unreal Engine (5.8), which has several performance fixes. However, it’s introduced a bug in the audio sampler, which causes the build to freeze if we use it for RHETT’s spectrum graph. I’ve disabled it temporarily and logged it wit...
