    DEV UPDATE | July 2026

Hey everyone! Heres an overview of whats been cooking over the past few months! -SHADER AND LIGHTING OVERHAUL I finally added proper lighting and shader work to the game in order to bring out shadows and style more! Now the colors pop more and we get stronger contrast. I added a kuwahara shader to introduce a stylized painterly look along with halftone dithering between shadows and light. I also added God Rays...everyone's favourite. -IMPROVED CAMERA One of the main overhauls has got to be the improvements for the camera! As example of such... When crawling up vertical walls, the camera stays upright and does not clip into the ground. Theres a lot of smaller micro details and tweaks here but I wont go into detail, its better to just feel it when you get your hands on it! heres another look at how these camera improvements look! -GRANDMA INTERACTIONS Grandma is now able to look under tables so you aren't always safe! This adds another layer of danger and sets up the groundwork for grandma being able to find you anywhere! She can even grab you! So you gotta watch out... -PEEKING You can now peek over ledges! I added this ability for when you are close to ledges and need to assess whats beyond -GRANDMA MOVING OBJECTS Grandma can now also move props. This system will eventually be the basis for grandma manipulating the environment against you and changing up the level! A fun one, you can also stick on moving objects properly now! You can hitch a ride on falling props or grandma's carried object even! -A SWING I also added this random swinging plank physics object to as a little platforming challenge for climbing on moving objects. (I deleted it though, it did not fit the level, maybe ill use it next time) -NEW SAFE ZONE I also added a NEW safe zone where you will hide from grandma in! Its literally carved into the wall, instead of a random cardboard box. This will be where you deliever the heisted items you find out in the world! MORE NOOKS AND CRANNIES One of the core ...

HUGE DEV UPDATE | MAY 2026

A long due Dev Update | May 2026Its been a hot minute since I last updated, so heres an overview of whats been cooking over the past few months! -FULLY COMPLETE INTRO SEQUENCE We completed the full tutorial flow (for now) which includes the story up to the point where you actually face off grandma for the first time! showing off some scenes... The Kitchen Nook The Fridge The Confrontation FLOW SKIPPER A small note here, I also added a debug method to skip sequences so we can fast forward to gameplay! This took awhile, is not actual gameplay, but is super useful for testing! IMPROVED GRANDMA ANIMATIONS Cleaned up some old systems to make grandma take stronger fuller steps! Now she can raise her leg higher! She can now also perform the flinging action! Which im planning to utilize for an attack in the future. Currently its used and triggered in a cutscene! SNIFFING Sensor mode now does not radiate random pulses, but creates scent trails based on objects of interest! These trails will guide players to things that can be interacted with! CAMERA ADJUSTMENTS Theres also new camera angles for gameplay, for one, the camera has been zoomed in closer to create a more third person over the shoulder look which gets you closer to the lizard and provides a stronger sense of scale and reduces disorientation I also ended a smoother camera orientation blend so it reduces the amount of disorientation on small corners as well! MOVING PLATFORMS Ive also added basic functionality for players to stick onto moving platforms and be transported around. Theres still some jitter so I need to work on it, but I think this opens up lots of interesting Level Design dynamics. NEW ENVIRONMENT BLOCKOUTS Using a proper modelling software (Maya), im making tighter blockouts of the spaces to get a stronger sense of what im trying to build! Revamped Sewers Revamped SumpLanding Excited to work on a lot more soon! PUSHING MECHANIC You can now push objects around! These objects will eventually be feeding i...

    DEV UPDATES | JAN/FEB 2026

First 2026 Dev Update! February 2026 Lots have happened in 2026, including our first ever playtest, a new tutorial area, cutscenes, new game flow, and much more! -STOMPINGGrandma can now stomp on Luna when shes on the ground, making it a dangerous space to hang around. -INTRO AREA Started blocking out the intro sequence using greyboxes, this will be where the player gets their first touch into the game. -THE PIPES Created the starting area of the game, which is the pipes. This area was designed as a safe area to allow players to get used to perspective bending climbing. -CUTSCENES Started creating cutscene sequences using Unity's Timeline to provide cinematic portions for framing and storytelling! What youre seeing is the first intro zoom in for the game -GOBI!!! Added a new friend called Gobi who is meant to be a companion and a major character in the game. Hes a Tokay gecko (Voted by the community!) and is a key part of the game's story. -CINEMATIC BARS AND DIALOGUE SYSTEM We now also have cinematic bars and a dialogue system to help tell the story of Sticky Feet through our characters. The characters can now speak! (Their mouths move too!) -NPCSEQUENCING AND JUMPING I've also added an NPCSequencing system to trigger Gobi to walk and jump! This is scalable to future NPCs as well. That being said, this will mean that in Sticky Feet, Critter NPCs will not be able to function as AI that follow you in gameplay, because I'm not intending to set them to work with navmesh. -INTERACTABLES You can now also interact with objects now to learn more about the world! This system can cycle through different lines and can potentially change based on world state! Super excited about what I can do with worldbuilding here. -CAMERA INDEPENDENT MOVEMENT The player now controls Luna INDEPENDENT of the camera aim. This makes the control way more natural and you can now have luna walk TOWARDS the camera so you can see her lil face ːsteamhappyːThis helps with players getting disoriented d...

    DEV UPDATES | DECEMBER 2025

A Very Merry Dev Update! December 2025 Hey everyone! Its gonna be a HUGE update! Its been 1.5months of development and lots has changed! Continuing on from the last update, we started by adding projectile functionality to the shotgun! P.S: You may have noticed some festive clothes on both lizard and grandma, its great to have fun once in a while! -GRANDMA'S WEAPON Grandma is now able to fire projectiles at the lizard! (Spoiler, the shotgun projectiles didnt last long in the game, it got replaced with something better..) A NAILGUN Initially I had a shotgun projectile, But I replaced it with a NAILGUN because it primarily solves the design issue of shotguns needing a complicated and unoptimized destruction system for the environment -CLIMBABLE NAILS Nailgun also leaves NAILS as climbable environmental props which feeds back into the core mechanic of climbing! -NAIL PINNING When youre hit by the nail, you'll be launched across the map and pinned to a surface, which is brutal and adds a level of comic violence that I feel is quite unique! nails are also more brutal and thematically ties into the implicit narrative of being PINNED down and unable to move! -GORE (EVENTUALLY OPTIONAL) When pinned, there is also now a pretty juicy visual feedback with cartoon blood. People responded really well to this, thinking its really awesome and we dont see these kinda juxtaposition often in games enough. Of course, there will eventually be a toggle for this! - TAIL CUTTING One of the most important feature to add in a lizard game is the ability to cut its tail! I created a setup that allows the player to cut the lizards tail, leaving behind a small tail that can be pickedup and used as a distraction! -TAIL DISTRACTION The tail when dropped will also make noise, which lures grandma, and if shes in range of it she will perform a 'stunned' animation which makes her distracted before she investigates the area, also allowing the player to make a quick getaway -OVERHAULED WALKING ANIMATION...

    DEV UPDATES | NOVEMBER 2025

Dev Updates! November 2025 Hey everyone! I've decided to take a look back at the steam page and boy has it been a LONG time. I've not broken the streak of daily updates on Instagram and Tiktok yet (I recommend you follow it for latest updates) Instagram TikTok But I wanted to share some of the major changes that have occured over the past.. oh my gosh.. 71 days! New Changes! -Dynamic Pickup Spawner A new dynamic objective spawning system that randomizes pickups that you can discover and find to bring home. -Scarf Added a simulated scarf that serves as a compass that points to the ground and helps with reorienting and navigation! -More Pickups More variety of pickups to bring home! Like nails, wool, matchsticks, all for a variety of crafting recipes! -Surveillance Camera Mode A surveillance camera mode that allows the player to view things upright, letting them reorient themselves and survey the situation! This will feed into the movement loop I designed for the player, namely, Crawl > Reorient > Assess > Crawl -Overhauled Lighting (Day & Night Scene) The biggest change came with the overhauled lighting. I added proper mood, lighting and post processing, with a night and day scene. These will be the basis for different levels in the future! -Blob Shadow I've added a blob shadow to the lizard which assists with the platforming in the game! -Wall Clipping Shader Added a wall clipping shader that draws a cutout with dithered halftone edges for a more aesthetic look to obstacles blocking the camera, ensuring a more seamless gameplay experience than pulling the camera forward. -Sensor Mode Created a sensor mechanic in the surveillance mode, making it such that players can, and will actually need to head out to LOOK for pickupables to bring home, using the sensor mechanic, further incentivizing the micro game loop! -Grandma Shotgun Gave grandma a ranged weapon. She uses it to be able to shoot down the player if theyre in impossible to reach spots. She pulls it out when she...
