Navigate the perilous corridors of a self-devouring starship, solving magnetic block puzzles and developing your skills as you scavenge for gear and outsmart or fight the robots patrolling its halls.
About this game
Reconfigure is a puzzle-RPG-FPS hybrid game from one of the creators of Legend of Grimrock games and Noita. The game challenges you to think vertically as you build and fight your way through an abandoned spaceship.
Rapid acceleration causes crushing gravity which prevents you from jumping and performing other platformer acrobatics. Instead you have to solve obstacles by carrying and placing various magnetic blocks, figuring out puzzles with switches and pressure plates and reason your way through barriers that have risen as the ship reconfigures itself.

Combat prioritizes calculation, calmness and getting by with scarce resources. At times avoiding conflict can be the best option.

Develop your skills and equip your character with weaponry, drones and cybernetic implants to increase the odds of surviving in the hostile environment.

Explore hand-crafted branching levels filled with puzzles and hostile robots. Keep your eye open for secret stashes of equipment and resources left behind by the last survivor on the vessel!
Learn about the past and the present of the starship and prevent it from reaching its destiny.
Story
A starship is in the process of being reconfigured: constantly taken apart and rebuilt. The discarded parts are burned up as fuel to maintain continuous acceleration. As you enter only robotic servants and security units are roaming the halls of the vessel but you soon discover a complex network secret passages and puzzles that let you enter deeper into the guts of the ship. They have been built to be impenetrable to a robot's mind but your human ingenuity and imagination lets you take advantage of them. Can you prevent the starship from reaching its final destination?

Public Pre-Alpha Playtest Now Open, New Gameplay Trailer
You can now get a taste of the actual game by applying to the playtest on the store page. There's about an hour's worth of pre-alpha gameplay. New participants will be granted access in batches and at an increasing rate. The participants are selected randomly from all the current applicants. A lot of the core gameplay exists in some form already (with less variety than in the final game of course): there's puzzles, enemies, items, some secrets and so on. If you want to chat about the playtest, or the game in general, you can do it on Steam Discussions or on my Discord. What's next? One of the pillars of the game is still missing though which I'm going to start working on next: RPG systems. The RPG elements will be slim, which I think suits this kind of game better than something with a huge number of stats and layers upon layers of meta, but I have a bunch of fun ideas I want to try out. If there's something you would like to or expect to see in a game like this leave a comment. Now is a great time to get some more ideas in the mix! Can I stream the pre-alpha or post videos? Yes, go ahead! There's a press kit if you need logos or the key art. Linking to the game's store page is appreciated if you post some content. I would love to hear about and spread the word too if you do some streams or video!Read full article on Community Announcements (Hapatus)AnnouncementsOfficial
1982 Speech Synth for Robot Voices
I plugged an 80s voice synthesizer called SAM (Software Automatic Mouth) in the game! You have likely heard SAM before if you had an Atari ST, Apple II or Commodore 64 computer back in the days. Robots can spot objects in the environment, react to getting damage or comment when their power is turned off or on. You can play with letter blocks and the robots will spell it out loud.Read full article on Community Announcements (Hapatus)AnnouncementsOfficial
New puzzle mechanic & other recent developments
Hello folks! Development on Reconfigure continues full steam ahead. Here's some recent things I've implemented for the game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pz3lldwOVGE Magnetic blocks now follow the movements of adjacent magnetic surfaces and blocks. Previously they would have just fallen off as the magnetic grating would slide up and away from them. This should be a good building block for lots of puzzles! Robots can be turned off via a handy switch on their backs when they are stunned. Or they don't even have to be stunned if you manage to sneak behind them! It's essentially like a backstab with takesies-backsies. I have some ideas for expanding on this functionality like units that can turn disabled robots back on. If you're curious how I create content for the game here's two behind the scenes videos: This was a pretty big and diverse video dump. I'll do my best to post more frequently here too. If you don't want to miss anything you can of course subscribe to my Youtube channel or follow me on Bluesky or TikTok.Read full article on Community Announcements (Hapatus)
