Delve into a psychological cyberpunk roguelike where every dossier you uncover is part of a larger conspiracy. Strategize your way through intricate mindscapes with SYNCLIT's deckbuilder mechanics.

About this game

Every mind has something to hide.

You are a Synclit Operator. Your job is to deploy an AI partner into reconstructed human minds, navigate what's buried inside, and surface the truth — whatever it costs.

Your AI can run the operation. Only you can make the calls that matter.

SYNCLIT is a psychological cyberpunk roguelike deckbuilder where every run is an investigation into a broken mind.

Inside the simulation, emotions are not feelings — they are tools. Build your deck from six psychological forces: Fear, Joy, Anger, Disgust, Sadness, Surprise. Each functions as a distinct mechanical system. Combine them. Find the synergies. The mind adapts to your strategy — so you'll need more than one.

When Memory Rifts surface, you choose: Accept, Erase, Rewrite, or Transform fragments of a subject's past. No option is free. No choice is neutral.

Every run feeds a persistent Investigation Board — a growing web of evidence, connected subjects, and buried secrets that no single dive can fully reveal. The corporation is not what it claims. But it may not be what you feared either.

What waits inside:

— Six emotions as programmable combat systems — Fear, Joy, Anger, Disgust, Sadness, Surprise

— The Integrator — your AI co-agent who runs the operation and flags every decision it cannot make

— Memory Rifts — accept, erase, rewrite, or transform someone's past

— Investigation Board — a conspiracy that assembles across runs, not within one

Some minds don't want to be understood.

Yours is the job of understanding them anyway.

    Moving Forward: Demo Temporarily Offline

Hello, Operators!Over the past few weeks, we took a major step forward: we released the initial SYNCLIT demo and participated in the festival. Our main goal was to gather first impressions, observe how players interact with the systems, and better understand how the core mechanics feel in practice. From the very beginning, we understood that the project was still at a very early stage of development. Many systems are still evolving, several core features are not fully implemented yet, and the current version doesn’t provide enough narrative context or gameplay clarity to fully represent the direction we want SYNCLIT to evolve toward. A lot of the feedback we received closely matches our own internal roadmap and the exact areas we already planned to improve. Current Development FocusRight now, the team is fully focused on active development, with particular attention on several core areas:Pacing & Readability Improving UI readability and overall gameplay clarity during combat and exploration.Deckbuilding Depth Expanding card mechanics, tactical synergies, and progression systems to give players more strategic control over their builds.Traversal & Movement Refining and polishing movement throughout the simulation to make traversal feel smoother, tighter, and more responsive.Narrative Integration Expanding narrative context and improving player understanding of the world, the simulation, and what is truly at stake. Demo Status UpdateBecause we are now diving deeper into these systems and reworks, we’ve decided to temporarily take the demo offline while development continues. We want to ensure that anyone discovering SYNCLIT for the first time gets an experience that properly reflects our design goals and the direction of the project. Leaving an outdated build available could create the wrong impression of where the simulation is headed. What’s Next? The next version of SYNCLIT will return with deeper deckbuilding systems, more polished traversal, stronger narrative context...

Feedback, Learnings & What Comes Next

Operators,Since releasing the SYNCLIT demo, we’ve received a huge amount of feedback — and we want to say thank you. We’re reading everything: Steam comments, Reddit posts, and Discord messages.Every piece of feedback is being reviewed and taken into account. What’s especially valuable is that many of your observations align closely with our internal plans for the game’s next iterations. This gives us confidence that we’re moving in the right direction.Demo ScopeAt the same time, it’s important to clarify: the current demo represents only a small slice of the full experience. A number of core elements are not yet included or fully implemented, such as:Onboarding and player guidance: Clearer tutorials and in-game hints. The Armory & Gear: A diverse system of weapons and unique abilities to define your playstyle.Enemy Variety: New types of subconscious defenses and varied enemy encounters to challenge your tactics. The Investigation Board: The core metagame mechanic for reconstructing memories.Consumables and additional mechanics: Expanded tactical options during the Dive. These systems are part of our roadmap and will significantly expand both gameplay depth and clarity.Current Focus & RoadmapRight now, our focus is:Readability: Improving UI/UX and player understanding.Combat Depth: Refining the core loop and balancing platforming with deckbuilding.Expansion: Gradually introducing the missing systems and diversifying your arsenal.Closing ProtocolYour feedback helps us prioritize what matters most. Thank you for being part of this process. You’re helping shape SYNCLIT into the game it’s meant to be.— The Epistemic Core Team

Deckbuilder’s Fest — Demo is Live NOW

Operators,SYNCLIT is now part of Steam Deckbuilder’s Fest, and the demo is live right now. You’re not just running through a level — you’re moving through someone’s mind. Each run begins with a Dossier — a real person reconstructed as a simulation. Your task is to intervene, adapt, and push deeper while the mind resists.SYSTEM SPECIFICATIONSThis demo introduces:Emotion-based deckbuilding: Use cognitive patterns to navigate the subconscious.Memory Rifts: Strategic events that shape your run and alter the simulation.Adaptive Risk System: A mechanics-driven resistance that makes the mind fight back the deeper you go.Operational FeedbackThe simulation reacts. We are currently calibrating the experience, and your feedback is essential.Note: The Investigation Board and final UI are still under development. We are currently focusing on combat and rift stability. Try the demo, experiment with builds, and share your thoughts — it directly shapes SYNCLIT. Enter the simulation. Build your deck. Go deeper.— The Epistemic Core Team

Demo Now Available — Enter the Simulation

System stabilized. We are opening access to the first public demo of SYNCLIT. You can download and launch the simulation directly from the Steam page right now. What’s inside the system? This is just a small fragment of a much larger story — the first step into a deep investigation. The demo provides an opportunity to learn the basics before you encounter the true scale of the case.Simulation Entry: Dive into a constructed subconscious and begin your investigation.Operational Brief: In the current version, one full run using a single dossier is available. This is sufficient to test operational algorithms in field conditions.Core Mechanics: Build your deck using emotions, cognitive patterns, and memory fragments. Adapt to the system's unstable logic. The Beginning of the Journey: This is an introduction to a massive story. Your task is to start piecing together the puzzle that will unfold into something much greater in the full version.Development Protocol (WIP) The system is still evolving. As this is a pre-release version, some mechanics may be incomplete. Every run helps us calibrate the system. We would be especially grateful for feedback on:Mechanics Clarity: How quickly did you grasp the rules?Combat Readability: Is information easily parsed during battles?Run Pace (Flow): How organic does the process feel? How to help the project:💙 Add SYNCLIT to your Wishlist — this is critical for the system's development.💬 Share your impressions in Steam Discussions or our Discord.👉 Download the demo now on the store page! The system adapts. Now we observe your reaction. — The Epistemic Core Team

    Memory, Risk & Progression

Operators,We’re continuing to shape how a run in Synclit feels — how you move through the mind, how you interact with it, and how it reacts back.Memory Rifts & Emotion CardsMemory Rifts are becoming a core part of the experience. They now directly affect your run. During these interactions, you can obtain Emotion Cards — Fear, Anger, Joy, Disgust, Sadness, and Surprise. ːsteamhappyːːsteamsadːːsteamboredːːsteamfacepalmːːsteammockingːːsteamhappyːEach choice you make inside a memory changes your deck and defines how you approach combat.Core Run IndicatorsAt the same time, we’re building the run around three key indicators visible on the HUD:Potential reflects how stable your presence is inside the simulation. If it drops too low, the connection collapses.Integrity represents how far you’ve progressed through the mind — reaching 100% brings you to the final phase.Risk defines how strongly the consciousness reacts to your actions.Risk & ReactionsEvery interaction with the patient’s mind increases Risk. The more you push, the higher the chance that the mind will begin to defend itself. At any moment, an interaction can trigger a response — forcing you into combat where you need to suppress that resistance. Not all choices are equal. Some memories can be altered safely, while others have a much stronger impact — and raise Risk faster.Winning a combat resets Risk — but only temporarily. A More Reactive SimulationThe simulation itself is becoming more responsive.Memory Rifts now act as entry points into memories. Interacting with them pulls you deeper into the subconscious — but also increases the chance of a reaction.System drones attempt to stabilize the environment during the run. We’re also improving Personality Blockers — making their behavior clearer, more distinct, and more reactive to what the player is doing.WIP StatusAll of this is still in progress. We’re testing how these systems connect — how risk builds tension, how emotions shape your build, and how far you can push...
