Low Earth Orbit Adventures is a chill space sim set in the near future where the space around Earth has become a frontier of science, commerce and diplomacy. Retrieve the Hubble, rescue astronauts, assemble space stations and many other missions in this realistic but friendly adventure.
Embark on thrilling missions around Earth's orbit as you retrieve the Hubble and build space stations in this chill sim from Classyk Games, where science meets adventure.
About this game
Low Earth Orbit Adventures is a space simulation set in the near future in a very specific place and time! Floating above our beautiful world just as it is becoming a bustling frontier of science, commerce and diplomacy.
Have you ever wanted to rescue the Hubble? Ferry a diplomat from one space station to another? Or refuel a stranded flight on its way to the Moon? Low Earth Orbit Adventures (LEO Adventures) puts you in the hot seat piloting your very own craft as you travel between orbits to perform a variety of helpful missions - from search and rescue to repairs and demolishing.
In the near future, the population above Earth has grown past just a few astronauts. It's still not a large number but now they need other services such as police, doctors, mechanics... and you.
Demo
For the First Look demo I have included one scenario from the game:
Rescue astronauts from a damaged space plane
If you play the demo I would really love your thoughts and suggestions in the Steam forum. I am aiming for much more realism in LEO Adventures than in my other space game, Liberation, and love feedback! I really want it to be a game you can relax on the couch and play.
Gameplay
In LEO Adventures you start as the sole employee of your own space company. You only have one asset, a standard Friendly Low Earth Orbit Tug (FLEOT). Your FLEOT is a hardy, versatile, dependable, overpowered little ship (rated to operate 400km - 800km above Earth but as low as 280km and as high as 1800km). A FLEOT is specially designed to travel short distances and perform complex manoeuvres with a variety of attachments.
It's the Swiss Army Knife of space.
Take on a mission, manoeuvre with Newtonian controls into position, attach the appropriate tool to your International docking adapter and then complete the scenario, whether it's a rescue, orbital boost, delivery, an inspection, diplomatic incident, a demolishing job... and many more!
Build up your company (and buy out your competitors) so you can build your own space station for retirement!
No guns, no sky beams, no magical warp gates... just our amazing planet from orbit and helping people. That's LEO Adventures.
Research
All the designs in the game, from the stations to the space planes to the docking adapters, are inspired or evolved from real world designs. Whether it's the International Space Station, SpaceX's Starship, Buran, James Webb, Orbital Reef, the X-33, Concorde or the many, many, MANY proposals for "Shuttle 2", I have endeavoured to make the game a delight for people who know their space industry history and to make it as plausible as possible with a focus on orbital tech and reusability.
Realistic, Accessible, Fun
With LEO Adventures I want to make an accessible and fun game that is as realistic as possible but still "pick up and play".
I call it "realism-lite". It's Newtonian physics in the local theatre and the stations follow basic orbital mechanics but the distances are compressed and humans have discovered almost unlimited propulsion.
You don't have to worry about running out of fuel and your Reaction Control System (RCS) thrusters will maintain your spacecraft's orientation (unless you turn them off!).
Potter around orbit! Rescue people! Dock with the Hubble! LEO Adventures is the ultimate relaxing space sim.
PLEASE NOTE: LEO Adventures is under heavy development and all gameplay footage is from the alpha version and may not match the final version!
Wishlist to follow LEO Adventures.
Inspirations
I love hard sci-fi, from Forbidden Planet to Project Hail Mary. I am particularly taken with an obscure 1986 BBC sci-fi show called "Star Cops" made by some of the people involved with Blakes 7 and Doctor Who. It's sort of like a prequel to The Expanse. I also really enjoyed the Sandra Bullock film, Gravity, which I feel is underrated!

Low Earth Orbit Adventures Demo UPDATED
Hi everyone,It's full steam ahead for Low Earth Orbit Adventures as I gallop towards a full release later this year. As you can imagine I have been very busy adding new missions and different types of tools and space stations to the game and iterating the gameplay and fixing bugs. This fortnight I decided to get the game presentable and polished so I could send it to journalists and streamers. Having the game tidied up like this before I pull it apart again makes it a great time to update the demo!So here is about three months of updates! A lot of change has come from your suggestions and feedback! The big changes are:More camera options, including the ability to fix the camera to the FLEOT's attitude (this is now the default). But you have total control in a new camera sub menu.New "new game" screen that hopefully has more wow and also save games are working.A new "picture-in-picture" (PIP) camera that is attached to the front of the craft. How you can help:Wish-list LEO Adventures, tell your friends, buy some of my other games like Cell Sword, and/or leave reviews of my other games. Every bit helps, it really does!Regards,LukeChangesImprovements to orbit map (added Expanse-style overlay, added star, added camera flare)Make camera frame-rate independentMake thrusters frame-rate independentSmooth input on gamepadsImprove target screen (easier to navigate, better looking)Improve tool menus (add PIP options, better looking, easier to navigate)Add more RCS options (added stabiliser sub menu) Add more camera options (added camera sub menu)Updated gamepad and keyboard remaps (you may have to do a factory reset if updating from an older demo)Fix camera to FLEOT attitude by default AddAdd picture-in-picture camera to show front of craft at all timesNew "new game" screenAdd some built in company logo presetsAdd save gamesAdd animation to rivalsAdd ability to fix camera to FLEOT attitudeFixeslots of polishimproved physicsRead full article on Community Announcements (dodgyville)AnnouncementsOfficial
Low Earth Orbit Adventures Demo UPDATED
Hi everyone,Steam NextFest is over and hundreds of people have picked up the demo for my little slice-of-orbit game over the week. It's already done 3x as many wishlists as Cell Sword did in a year, so pretty cool if your interested in stuff like that! I'm still processing the feedback. Maybe I have picked an impossible task - a "pick up and play" Newtonian space game. 99% of players will bounce off a Newtonian space game no matter how good the controls are simply because 3D space with no up or down is a confusing thing! And that's OK. LEO Adventures is not for everyone. And watching people this last week play the game I think while I have gotten more right than wrong there is still room for improvement. Most of the feedback was positive but generally I feel further work is required in the following areas:Tutorials. I have made a bunch of bite-sized super simple tutorials but they are still too wordy. I thought the "why" was as important as the "how" but I realise now the tutorials are not the place for the "why".Camera. LEO Adventures is just as much about manoeuvring the camera as it is about controlling the spacecraft. I need to communicate this much better to players. Dynamic thruster inputs. I honestly think a killer feature of LEO Adventures is the dynamic thruster selection system I have implemented. It means that no matter what direction your spacecraft is facing, the thrusters line up with your keyboard or gamepad. However, there is a learning curve.Keyboard mapping. Every space game is different and everyone has a different suggestion of what the default keyboard mapping should be. I am listening and I am willing to make changes but I have to synthesise a lot of different suggestions into a future path. So here is a big update for the demo! Still just one mission (I'm debating whether to add more content to the demo or keep it for the full game) but lots of quality-of-life updates and bug fixes.Of most interest to returning players - there was a nasty bug w...Read full article on Community Announcements (dodgyville)AnnouncementsOfficial
Low Earth Orbit Adventures FIRST LOOK demo
Hi everyone,I'm pleased to share the very first slice of Low Earth Orbit Adventures with you in the form of a demo, available now for free!Low Earth Orbit Adventures is a relaxing space sim set in the near future at an epoch moment in history where space tips over from being a place we visit to a place we live. Imagine there are 1500 scientists and explorers in space. At 1499 they can do the plumbing themselves but at 1501 they need a dedicated plumber... and a doctor... and a mechanic. Space is all about those small steps representing big leaps! That's the vibe I'm going for in LEO Adventures - you are the first handy-person in space.LEO Adventures is a small game but it is ambitious. I struggle to play with Newtonian space flight physics in games as I find the learning curve very steep and there are a lot of keyboard commands to remember but I love them (and shows like The Expanse and Star Cops). Generally, my design philosophy is "pick up and play" so I really wanted to challenge myself to try and make a really accessible Newtonian game. Have I succeeded? Well, let's say I already have suggestions on the next round of updates! The demo is one mission ... rescuing astronauts from a stricken space plane. It shows off the basic gameplay (select your tool, potter around space, help people). I hope you enjoy it enough to wishlist the game. if you like what I do, please buy my other games and/or tell your friends. I'd love to make more games and bigger games. The full version has many more missions and tools!Regards,LukeRead full article on Community Announcements (dodgyville)
