About this game
Black Cat Book Club is an idle game about a cat reading all the books in the Sorceress' Library and learning Magic along the way.
THE ARCANE LIBRARY
Unlock and read forgotten tomes, each granting a unique Upgrade
Help the cat decipher ancient texts, inspired by real-world traditions: Glyphs will consume Focus and reveal their meaning, advancing your progress on a book.
Learn and cast magic spells: sigils, summoning seals, alchemy, and astral magic.
MAKE IT YOURS
Choose from various fur patterns, eye colors and accessories for your cat and make every nook of the tower the coziest reading spot by unlocking magical artifacts and decorations.
DESKTOP COMPANION
The black cat will keep you company while you relax, work, or study. You can move and resize the library, zoom in to take a closer look, and be as active or chill as you wish.

Good news first:The game has reached 10k wishlists! I started making this little game inspired by things I genuinely love and wanted to see more in games: cats (albeit not exactly underrepresented, the more, the better!), libraries, dusty books, and magic!To see it reach and connect so many people is honestly heartwarming; it makes all the work that goes into making a game worth it: the reviews, the feedback, seeing how many of you are still playing the demo... It's amazing.Thank you for all of these things and more.And the not-so-good news:The release date will be delayed by a few weeks: the game will still come out in September, but on the 25th.I apologize to everyone who played and wishlisted the game; I'm terribly sorry to make you wait even longer. This extra time will allow me to finish the game properly, make sure it's balanced, and add more customization options too.Despite having two cats helping me, the truth is... they don't actually do much, and making a game is just a LOT of work for one person, so I hope you will forgive me for the delay (and for blaming the cats, that's lame). Demo Update and Release Date!
Demo update live nowIt was amazing seeing people finally play Black Cat Book Club during and after Steam Next Fest.I'm happy about how the festival went, and I'm so grateful for everyone who left a review, feedback, or a simple nice message.I took all the feedback to heart, and I've been working really hard on improving the game.Some of the changes you'll see are:Idle Study: like a proper desktop companion game, now the cat automatically studies the glyphs, but you can still help by clicking and revealing their meaning too.Focus: like before, focus is used to study, but now when it depletes, the cat sleeps (see video below) to recover it and earn DreamsMagic: spells are now cast using mana and you'll see their effect immediately (no sigil studying needed after you learn them!)Fullscreen issues and other bugs should now be goneMore settings (possibility to hide partially or totally the UI, start a New game, ...)Progress should be automatically brought over from the last save; please let me know if you encounter any issues.I hope you'll enjoy these changes!Release dateI'm excited to announce that the full game will come out on the 4th of September!See you soon!Read full article on Community Announcements (Idea Garden Games)AnnouncementsOfficial
