Explore the chaotic world of Ropeat, an indie action game where each player controls a robot that repeats its last move. Whether you strategize or dive into the fray, compete with friends in thrilling top-down shooter battles.
About this game
Play locally or via remote play with 2 to 10 split-screen players and battle it out in this twin-stick shooter. Collect the most coins to win. The twist: In a fixed loop, copies of you appear that repeat exactly what you did. Plan to let them provide suppressive fire and be careful not to shoot your past- or future-self in the back.
Curious? Try our Demo with 1-2 players and up to 2 bot-players!

This explains the name: Repeating Robots! All actions you take are repeated exactly by your copies. They spawn at the same time for all players in time-loops of a fixed duration. You will have an army of your past selves that repeat everything you did. This makes things tricky: If you forget what you did, your copies can end up shooting you in the back. But your past selves can also shoot your future enemies. So be clever and use them to your advantage!
Lay down suppressive fire and then engage your opponent. Your copy will support you by repeating the same spray at where you predicted your opponent to be. All collectibles respawn at the same time as you. Collect a coin and your copy will collect the same coin in a automated chain to increase your score. Shoot a copy of another player and every copy of you will shoot every copy of them in the same way. That is, unless they come back to prevent their supply of copies being lost.
Your copies also serve as your respawn points. When you are destroyed, you change to your oldest copy that is still alive. You then rewrite your history from that point onward. If all your copies are destroyed you have to respawn at your base, so take care to protect them. One way to do this is by using the shield powerup.
Ropeat has numerous attack, defense and meele powerups. Gain the upper hand by using rockets and shields to improve your map control. Your followers do the same - unless someone steals the powerup first and alters the past or uses their minigun to shoot down your rocket.

As you play, you unlock Modifiers! Modifiers let you adjust how the game works in a variety of ways. You can activate any combination of modifiers - mix and match!
For example, Modifiers can...
increase the speed at which everything spawns.
make coins heavy, so they have to be carried or tossed back to base.
change the balancing of projectiles.
make all bot intangible, except for those that are actively being controlled.
...and much more! Unlock them all to see what they do.
You can play with 2 to 10 players locally. The maps scale dynamically to match the number of players.
Play against one friend with your keyboard or host a game night with up to 10 people on a big screen.
No need for a ton of controllers: the game supports two players per controller/keyboard.
Supports Steam Remote-Play, so buy one copy and play with your friends online.
Players can even join during a match, making this a perfect game to start when some friends are running late.
Tired of screaming at each other? Try working together or playing solo against a team of bots.
We are a four person hobbyist team consisting of a creative musician and three developers with an average of eight years experience in coding games.
We are excited about our game and want to continue working on it after release.
Being completely independent with no publisher, we develop with only the players’ interest in mind and are open to your input and feedback.
We plan to add more maps, more powerups (we already added 5 more), teams (try this now on the lanes map), bots (done), and other fun things! What do you think we should add? Feel free to reach out or write a review.

Update #2
We are proud to release the first major update for Ropeat! This update focuses on game progression and a more customizable experience.Interactive TutorialWhen you start the game for the first time after this update, you will go right into a tutorial that explains the mechanics and how to use them. And yes, veteran players may simply skip it by returning to the main menu. The tutorial can always be accessed again from there.ModifiersModifiers let you adjust how the game works in a variety of ways! You can activate any combination of modifiers - mix and match!Remember the "Strategic Game Mode", and the setting for reducing the Loop Time to 4 seconds? Those have now become the Modifiers "Coin Carry" and "Faster Factory" - and we added 11 additional modifiers! Some adjust the balance of the game while others add new features or completely change how you play the game. For example:"Slow Shooting" and "Infinite Ammo" affect the fire rate of all bots."Ghost Followers" makes all bots intangible that are not actively being controlled."Kill Score" awards coins for destroying other player's bots.To not overwhelm players, modifiers start locked and get unlocked as you play the game. Instead of spoiling all of their effects here, discover them for yourself!Customizable PowerupsLike Modifiers, Powerups can now also be activated individually, and you unlock them as you play. The Powerup menu also features a brief description of each powerup.New LevelsWe've added two new level prototypes to the game:Duel is a particularly small level. While it works best for 1v1s, up to 6 players can battle it out in teams.House features many narrow corridors, making suppressive fire even more effective. This level supports up to 4 players.Other changesImproved the lighting in the "Lanes" level. For that low-budget Cyberpunk feel.Improved the appearance of bots. Now featuring a small rotating cogwheel that seemingly serves no purpose...Improved the look of the leading-player-indicator.
