About this game
World Tree Defender is a tower defense built on hex grids, specialized towers, and Landmarks with a special sauce. Every run is a fresh battlefield: read the enemy mix, place towers that counter their traits, call nature's help when the line breaks, and survive long enough to drag a splinter of the past (LOOOOOT) back to the tree — making your next run more epic and your build truly your own.
Push your corruption higher and the world pushes back harder — mantis gain sprint, worms split on death, bugs grow armor, Primes broadcast auras to the rest of the swarm. Survive the climb and your World Tree levels up, unlocking stronger relics, new mutations, and a permanent place on the Grove leaderboards.
Key Features
Roguelite run loop — each run drops splinters of the past that reshape your loadout. Common to Mythic rarity, five slots, hundreds of build combinations.
Corruption ladder — slide the difficulty up for better drops and harder enemies. Mutations stack: worms split, mantis sprint, bugs armor up, Primes spread their gifts to the swarm.
Counter-play tower roster — choose a specialization for your tower, each built to answer specific enemy traits. Read the wave, pick your answer.
Hex-grid maps that matter — natural chokepoints, hidden groves, and biome weather that twists your plans mid-wave. Not enough? We've got a map editor from the start. Join the community and play on the map of your dreams!
3 distinct biomes for the start — Verdant Veil, Cinderheart, and Miremaw, each with its own weather hazards and strategic terrain theme.

Festival Aftermath — Wave Forge, a Tree with Feelings & a Cleaner UI
Hey everyone! What a couple of weeks. I took World Tree Defender to the E-Sports Festival in Vienna.... THE game's biggest public outing yet. Festival RecapThe game's first Twitch stream! WTD was featured live on the FM4 Twitch channel — watch the VOD here.Tons of first-time players picked up the game, had fun, and hit that wishlist button. Some of them refused to stop — the demo is tuned for 7 waves, and people pushed all the way to wave 30.Great feedback and ideas straight from players' mouths. Several of them I can't wait to try out.I got to meet a bunch of fellow devs and media folks — the Austrian indie scene is alive and kicking. The biggest takeaway: it's still early days, but people already genuinely enjoy playing. As a solo dev, that's the signal you hope for. Thank you to everyone who stopped by, streamed, and supported! New Update, Live on Demo & Test BuildsPlayer feedback from the festival went straight back into the game. Here's what's new: New FeaturesWorld Tree Reactions — The World Tree now reacts to what's happening around it. This is an early test — I plan to grow a full personality for the tree over time. What kind of personality should a baby World Tree have? Drop your suggestions in the comments or on Discord!Wave Forge — Don't like the default waves? Modify the wave templates and forge your own. Build the gauntlet you want to face.Map Editor: Test Button — Playtest your creations instantly without leaving the editor. Improvements & FixesFixed the bugs discovered during the festival (nothing finds bugs like a few hundred strangers)Simplified the UI — most of the top bar now tucks away behind a hoverWave Rewards moved next to Credits so they're easier to spotUpdated the Cinderheart map — the World Tree has more room to growRedesigned the tower info panelMoved the Send Wave button to the bottom What's Next This is only the beginning. More biome polish, more tower depth, and a World Tree with real personality are all on my roadmap. If you played th...Read full article on Community Announcements (Wrock | World Tree Defender)
