About this game
A Rogue Life Sim: Live. Die. Inherit. Repeat.
Live 100 connected lives - where every life you complete permanently shapes the next. That's the promise of 100 Lives, and it starts with a Golden Ticket: you've been chosen to restore the dying Tree of Life on Mokopuni Island, one lifetime at a time.
Inside each life, the world is yours. Build any career you can dream of, fall in love, raise a family, make friends and enemies, become famous or become a fugitive. And when a life ends, nothing is wasted: your heirlooms, relationships, and achievements carry forward, opening doors your last self couldn't even see.
A life sim built like a roguelike - the freedom to become anyone, and a journey that grows across every life you live.
Become Anyone. Really, Anyone.
Deep character creation sets your look, personality and starting traits - then Kingstown opens up. Politician, superstar, gardener, detective, chef, crime lord: build any career, or several, or abandon them all for love. Nail your first concert, defend yourself in court, raise a family, join the mafia - hundreds of scenarios react to who you are and what you've done.
Go cozy - farmer, shop owner, artist. Go dark - mob boss, outlaw, corrupt mayor. Or combine paths in ways the game dares you to. Every life is a fresh answer to the same question: who do you want to be this time?
A City Full of People Who Know You
One hundred NPCs live in Kingstown across six life stages - growing up, growing old, and growing with you. Fall in love, build friendships, collect rivals and mentors. They remember what you've been through together: the promises, the betrayals, the wedding, the incident nobody talks about. Some relationships live inside a single lifetime. Others echo across all of them.
Build Mode: Leave Your Mark on the Map
Kingstown isn't just where you live - it's what you build. Claim empty lots and decide what rises there: a bakery, a chocolate factory, a slightly suspicious yogurt empire. Upgrade your locations to unlock new careers, relationships and places to explore, and specialise whole districts around Body, Mind or Soul to support the lifestyles you want your future selves to live. Neighbourhoods flourish with attention and crumble without it - and everything you build stands (or falls) long after you're gone.
Talk Your Way Into Trouble. Strategize Your Way Out.
Conflict in 100 Lives isn't fought with swords - it's fought with words, influence and reputation. Strategic turn-based confrontations where your dialogue and life choices are the deck. Every path has its own battles: politicians debate, artists feud, criminals negotiate, parents face toddlers. Win or lose, the outcome echoes into your relationships, your career, and the lives that come after.
Your Journey Outlives You
Between lives you return home to Mokopuni Island, where the Tree of Life grows with everything you've done. Completed quests open new branches. Careers, relationships and exploration unlock new starting options. Heirlooms carry real advantages forward: a Golden Mic that opens influence options in any conversation, a Vintage Revolver that unlocks mafia paths your last self couldn't touch.
Death resets your life. It never resets your journey.
A City Shaped by Every Life
Kingstown remembers you too. Build and upgrade locations, specialise districts around Body, Mind or Soul, and watch neighbourhoods flourish or decay based on what your past selves did. The city your tenth life is born into is the city your first nine built.
One Simulation. Endless Stories.
Pop star, detective, wizard, goth icon, dragon queen. Every life adds to a multiverse of you - and your permanent journey grows with each one: more branches on the Tree, more heirlooms in the vault, more of Kingstown shaped in your image, more people who remember your name. Stories no writer could script, told one lifetime at a time.
Your first life is waiting. And it will not go the way you planned.

We've been heads-down in development, and we wanted to pop up for air and give you a little update on where things stand. So, what have we been up to?A lot. We've been refining core systems, squashing bugs, polishing scenarios, and generally trying to make sure that each of your lives, all 100 of them, feels as good and meaningful as possible. The Tree of Life, the relationship system, the evolving world map, these are all getting a lot of love right now.We want 100 Lives to be the kind of game where you put it down after an hour and immediately think, "okay, one more life." Getting that loop to feel just right takes time, and we're committed to not rushing it.What's next? We're working toward opening up another demo, and we are genuinely excited to get it into your hands. We'll be sharing more details on timing soon, so make sure you've got the game wishlisted and notifications turned on so you don't miss the announcement! In the meantime, the best place to stay in the loop is our Discord. Come say hi, the community there has already started cooking up some wild theories and we love it.Wishlist 100 Lives on Steam and join us on Discord to follow development.Read full article on Community Announcements (LeonaGamebook)AnnouncementsOfficial
Devlog #9: Designing the Decisions That Shape Your Story
In this devlog, we sat down with Florian S., the Lead Game Designer on 100 Lives. Florian works across multiple areas of the game, balancing big-picture planning with hands-on design of core systems, story events, and player choices. From building out our turn-based interaction system to developing the new scenario feature, Florian is focused on creating gameplay that’s both strategic and accessible, giving players meaningful ways to shape each life they live in Kingstown. What did you work on last week, and what’s next?I set the remaining priorities for the remainder of the milestone, worked on the latest iteration of our turn-based interaction system, and did game design on a bunch of story events, which include setting the stage, defining roleplay choices, and difficulty of choicesWhat’s a new feature, mechanic, or piece of content you're excited about? There are a bunch of new things in the works, but the most exciting one for me is the scenario system. Scenarios are short bits of gameplay where you have to decide how you wanna deal with them. They will add an additional gameplay layer to the map and will help smooth out a few of the rough edges we currently still have. What’s been the most interesting design or technical challenge recently? As I am working on the turn-based interactions at the moment, they definitely are tricky to get right. We have to find the correct balance of giving players interesting and strategic options without adding too much complexity to overwhelm them. It probably takes a few more iterations to nail the exact balance, but it's a lot of fun figuring out.Is there anything players might miss if they don’t look closely?Definitely. 100 Lives is a game with lots of small things to discover everywhere, both in visual details and in defining your life story. How is your work helping bring the “100 Lives” concept to life?As Lead Game Designer, I am involved in a lot of processes: I am doing the high-level planning for the project milestones, featu...Read full article on Community Announcements (LeonaGamebook)AnnouncementsOfficial
Devlog #8: Crafting Endings That Make You Start Over
This week, we spoke with Oscar G.P., the Narrative Director of 100 Lives, about what it takes to create meaningful conclusions in a game that’s designed to be played again and again.Oscar’s focus has been on building the narrative structure that supports each life from beginning to end, prototyping scenes that wrap up your story in ways that feel earned, surprising, and emotionally satisfying. His work also touches nearly every part of the production process, ensuring the writing, pacing, and presentation of each moment aligns with the game’s core vision. What did you work on last week, and what’s next? Last week, I mainly worked on content production. In particular, I focused on creating run-end content. Our game, which shares aspects with roguelites, requires content to end each run, so the player is compelled to start over. So, I prototyped a few possible end scenes with different variations. Based on testers' reactions, we’ll determine the breadth and scope of this type of content and how to improve it. What’s a new feature, mechanic, or piece of content you're excited about? The goal for this milestone is to have a complete, playable life. I’m excited to see how that feels. What’s been the most interesting design or technical challenge recently? We’ve been adding camera movement and character poses to our cut-scene engine. I’m looking forward to seeing how that enhances the experience. Is there anything players might miss if they don’t look closely? Yes! But that’s by design. If I spoiled it, I would also be spoiling the fun. How is your work helping bring the “100 Lives” concept to life? I’m the narrative director in this project. In the production phase, most of my efforts are in the production of narrative content in a content-heavy game. On top of that, I’m to supervise the quality of the narrative, from the writing to the integration of elements from other departments. I work side-by-side with different teams, mostly with game design and art, and especially...Read full article on Community Announcements (LeonaGamebook)AnnouncementsOfficial
Devlog #7: Painting the World of Kingstown, One Detail at a Time
In this devlog, we’re hearing from Canan A., whose work this week is focused on giving Kingstown its unique visual identity. From learning the art of hand-painted textures to implementing environmental storytelling elements, Canan’s contributions help ensure the world doesn’t just look good, it feels alive, layered, and full of surprises. She’s been helping guide the shift from placeholder blockouts to a fully realized map, while also supporting the character team and pitching new ideas for how players will experience the city across their many lives. What did you work on last week, and what’s next?I continued to my learnings about hand painting 3D models to ensure our game's 2D style is beautifully integrated (I would say painted!) into our 3D map. While I’m still in the early stages of this process, we can look forward to sharing updates on the new textures for our maps and buildings! The map is coming to life Farewell, gray blockouts!! For next week, I’ve also taken on a new task: creating reusable decoys/asset designs that will allow us to add more 2D details to our map & have some fresh ideas regarding player guidance and visualizations that I plan to present at this week's art meeting(later today). The map is evolving! More details, more surprises who knows what you’ll uncover next? What’s a new feature, mechanic, or piece of content you're excited about? As a character-creation lover, narrative designer, artist & a huge Sims and RPG player (BG3 especially!) I’m super excited to see our character creator taking shape. I can’t wait to watch how each main NPC’s design evolves across different life stages and ages! What’s been the most interesting design or technical challenge recently?I’ve seen how much work every department is putting in, especially our Live2D specialists. There are always small details that needs testing to make sure everything moves and feels smooth. They’re the ones bringing our characters to life, and it’s been super interesting to watch and sup...Read full article on Community Announcements (LeonaGamebook)AnnouncementsOfficial
Devlog #6: Tools for Time, Transitions, and Toddler Versions of Yourself
In this devlog, we’re checking in with Dala K., a developer on the 100 Lives team focused on building flexible, behind-the-scenes systems that make the world feel dynamic—and help the rest of the team bring their ideas to life. From implementing a full day/night cycle to creating smarter camera transitions and even experimenting with an NPC aging tool, Dala’s work is all about making Kingstown feel alive, responsive, and full of possibility. What did you work on last week, and what’s next?Last week me and Alberto been working on a daynight cycle, so that you can revisit the same location during different times of the day. Next task is sadly not as exciting, since I will be just fixing bugs that come with every new feature. What’s a new feature, mechanic, or piece of content you're excited about?I am really excited to soon work on our NPC Creator that can automatically age an character. In the end we will be able to just create one NPC and hopefully just hit a button to have the same character as a toddler, adult, and elder! What’s been the most interesting design or technical challenge recently? The most interesting challenge was working on upgrading our Camera's capabilities. We wanted something more than just having a static camera like alot of visual novels have. So we worked out a system that lets you stack different camera movements and call them through commands. It allows us to have endless possibilities of camera transitions, without having to code each movement from scratch. Is there anything players might miss if they don’t look closely? All of these options in the character creator. I know some games might have even more options but I hope the Players will be able to see the potential in the assets we created and the Colors we provide. How is your work helping bring the “100 Lives” concept to life?I like to think the tools I create can help each department to simplify and streamline their work. I hope this give them the freedom to create what they actually want ...Read full article on Community Announcements (LeonaGamebook)
