Alone in a dark castle, you must find a way to escape. You will have to explore the castle grounds, find keys, solve puzzles, and if push comes to shove, you will have to use your gun. Be careful however. Your gun only fires one bullet at a time.

Navigate the eerie halls of Ødeborg, piecing together clues to unlock doors and survive. Your single bullet may be all you have against unseen threats in this indie escape adventure.

About this game

It has been three days since a word has been heard from the king. On your way to investigate, you and your soldiers were attacked by... something. You were the only survivor. Your only choice is to go to the castle yourself in attempt to find the king. Armed only with your pistol, you must go inside and figure out what happened.

Features:

  • Explore the King's castle, a dark and seemingly abandoned building with many locked doors and items to find. Your map will come in handy.

  • Conserving your resources is vital. Things such as bullets and healing items are in limited supply, so you'll have to explore every corner of the castle, unless you want to meet a dark fate.

  • You might not be alone in the castle, so your gun will be useful. It only shoots one bullet at a time though, and takes a while to reload. So you will have to use your bullets sparingly.

  • Your camera is in a locked 3rd person perspective.

  • The castle's secrets are not for everyone to see. You must find different keys to open the many locked doors that are strewn around the castle grounds.

  • Figure out what happened.

Big QoL update and GamesCom announcement!

Hello everyone! We know that we said we'd probably not give any further updates to Ødeborg, but that's where that "probably" comes in.We're very happy to announce that we are going to be attending GamesCom this year! We'll be part of a small booth called "RAW Talent Booth", a booth that shows off a bunch of games made by university students! There are students from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Norway, and Iceland! So if you're going to GamesCom, make sure to swing by to look at what young gamedevs have been working on! You can find it in Hall 10.2, Booth E42 from the 26th to the 30th of August! To go alongside this trip, we were able to get ourselves together to make one update, focused on bug fixes and other quality of life improvements! These are: Gameplay:-Added a saving system. You can now save your progress via the book in the corner of the main hall. You can save as many times as you wish, but you only have one slot. This means that you no longer have to start all the way from the beginning if you either die or close the game.-Added item icons into the player's inventory for most items. Now, if you are having a hard time figuring out which items in your inventory can be used on the map, you can do that more easily by looking at the icons.-Before this patch, the tutorial was a big wall of text at the begining of the game. It was overwhelming, and it was fed to the player before they even started playing. So, we restructured the tutorial. It is now spread out through the opening section of the game, with each happening in an enviorment where the player can test the controls. This should ease up on the confusion.Other changes:-Added a small text prompt to the starting dialouge that tells you to "Press E" to advance the dialouge. Some players did not know that E advances dialouge, and would just sit frozen without knowing what to do to advance the game.-Slightly modified the aiming line. Now it is not as large as before.-Prevented the player from pausing while they...

    Small fix and new painting

After someone pointed it out, we have fixed an error in the text of the coin door which may be misleading for players. The text now says that you need a copper coin instead of a bronze one. In addition, we added a singular painting in one of the hallways after we discovered that the painting had not been added into the game. Since we don't want the work put into the painting to be wasted, and we think the painting looks cool, we added the painting with a tiny bit of lore text.

    Ødeborg - Patch #1

Hello everyone! Just doing some light changes and bug fixes based on feedback we have received!-Fixed the issue where a chest marked with a blue crown key would not open when the player had the blue crown key. This chest now requires a red crown key.-Added a missing chest icon to the basement.-Capped the fps to 120. This is to fix a performance issue that stemmed from unlimited fps. The game should run smoother now.-Shortened the time between enemy attacks by half. Before it was jarring, now it should match up nicely with the animation and provide a bit more challenge.-Fixed a lighting issue in the death scene.-Increased the damage of the final boss, meaning that he should be somewhat of a threat now.-Slightly increased the time between boss attacks, meaning that it should match a little better with the animation.-Changed the sound that the boss makes.Thank you all for playing Ødeborg! This is probably the only patch we will make, as we don't plan on updating it any further (unless some incredibly serious issues pop up). It will of course continue to be up on Steam. Thank you all for playing our little student project!
