About this game

Game description

ShipCrafter is a naval sandbox combat simulator. Build you ship, unlock new parts, and defeat increasingly powerful foes !

Challenge adversaries in the campaign and liberate europe, or battle your own creations in the custom battle mode, and try to come up with the most efficient and original design.

Realtime physics

We are making a game with accurate physics. As such we implemented a realtime buoyancy system based on weight and submerged volume. The ship density and center of mass is displayed in editor, allowing to fine tune your ship and even make submarines using ballasts !

Weaponery physics were particularly cared for as well, with fully simulated shell trajectories considering air pressure, changes in density through the atmosphere, and the influence of speed on shells drag value. Penetration calculations are based on armor thickness, angle of incidence, bounce probability, and shell speed and mass.

Features

  • Realtime buoyancy simulation even considering ocean waves.

  • Various armor thicknesses and accurate penetration calculation based on speed, mass and angle of incidence.

  • Realistic ballistic trajectories even considering changes in the air pressure with altitude. Speeds and distances are however reduced to increase the nervosity of combats (in reality it would take more than a minute to hit a target at 20km).

  • Adjustable ballasts for submarine designs.

  • Physics based damages instead of healthbars. Turrets and engines will also lose performance if hit.

  • Weather system and day cycles, including changes in ocean waves amplitude and rain.

  • Campaign with more than 50 missions.

  • More than 20 different ships to defeat.

  • Custom battle editor, including weather, time of day selection, and bots vs bots naval battles.

  • Manual and automatic control mode for weaponery.

  • Realtime fluid simulation (experimental).

  • Visit your ship in first person view.

  • Steam Workshop supported.

  • Raytracing renderer to generate your most beautiful screenshots !

  • Officially supported modding.

Steam workshop support

Battleships, cruisers, submarines : this game already supports the steam workshop ! You can share your creations with the community and download other people's ships this way !

Multiplayer mode

A sandbox mode is available in game ! Play with up to 10 people, and enable or disable damage to fight naval battles or simply to show off your ships to others.

Raytracing renderer

You can now create your own scene in ShipCrafter, allowing to modify the sun orientation, add fog and generate screenshots with outstanding quality thanks to raytracing.

Game localisation, new turret, and new features

Hello,Here is a new update for ShipCrafter ! The game should be more stable on Linux from now on, and many bugs were fixed. The game will officialy be released on the 1rst of October 2026, and as such I mostly worked on localisation and user interface, but there are many other new things as well. Here are to biggest ones.Game localisationThe game is now translated in 11 different languages :EnglishFrenchDutchGermanPolishItalianPortugueseSpanishRussianChinese (simplified)JapaneseThe language can be changed easily from the main menu, at the top of the settings.New german 150mm TBTS turretWe are introducing a new shieldless turret. Seen on a few destroyers and submarines, as well as inside casemates, this gun is tiny but packs a lot of power for its size.Bicolor feature for turretsTurrets can now receive a second color on top. This feature was particularly seen on american ships with a darker tone on top, and on german ships with yellow or red colors for easier recognition by their aviation. It is possible to change the maximum angle of application of this color by right clicking the turret and changing the angle value on top of the window.Complete changelogs- improved user interface look- you can now recall your planes to the carrier during battles- you can now colour the top of turrets with a second colour, you can even control the maximum slope of the colouring in the advanced stats (right click on the turret)- there is now a setting to force the mirror mode position at the scene center- added a second colour indicator in the ui, for elements with a floor or turrets with a second colour- added a tickbox to disallow mods in multiplayer rooms- added the possibility to have an unanimated (no recoil) gun mesh with modded turrets- added language translation to the game, in case of mistakes you can post requests on the discord forum channel- added the german 150mm/45 TBTS turret- limited the "prevent AA from shooting ships parameters" to only small caliber turrets- inactiv...

Custom difficulty and multiplayer mods !

Hello,Here is a new update in ShipCrafter, this time most importantly we added custom difficulties, and the possibility to join multiplayer rooms with mods.We also added a new rangefinder, and a new turret.Custom difficultyYou can now change the game difficulty through 2 modifiers :items and supply costenemy damageModifiers can be changed from 0.5 to 10, and are unlocked after completing the campaign once. You can change the difficulty of any campaign at any moment once it's unlocked.Mods in multiplayerYou can now use mods in multiplayer. Do note however that local modpacks will be detected and prevent other users from joining if they cannot download it on the workshop.New rangefinderWe are adding a new late tier rangefinder, the radar. Modeled around the US fire control radar of the Iowa class battleships, it allows for an extremely high view angle, useful for long range battles.Octuple 40mm turretWe added the british octuple 40mm turret. Provides great firepower particularly against aircrafts.Changelogs- increased rangefinders view buffs a bit- modded engine have a new parameter to change the smoke spawn position- added a last tier rangefinder, the radar, allowing for a very high point of view over the sea- added the british octuple 40mm turret- changed the way center of mass is computed in battles, instead of a fixed 4m buff, it now depends on the mass distribution of the ship- added a button to reload mods from the game (this does not automatically install newly subscribed mods)- fixed modded missiles turn speed- fixed bug preventing players from following missiles- fixed VFX bug with modded turrets using modded bullets- added campaign difficulty modifiers, unlocked after completing the campaign once- added a message when disabling mirror mode in the build scene- it is now possible to join modded multiplayer lobbies

Multiplayer planes and various additional features !

Hello, here is a new update for ShipCrafter, and there are a lot of things to unpack here. Among the usual bug fixes, we added many features such as relaodable plane catapults, improved rigging tool, paintable modded planes, additional modding capabilites and more ! Let's get to it.Multiplayer planesAll planes now fully work in multiplayer. Carrier battles are now possible in multiplayer lobbies as such. We also fixed a few bugs with planes, for example not returning to the carrier without a target selected.Reloadable plane catapultsSometimes one wants to be able to send many planes even without a large enough flight deck. This is now possible using a special crane available in weaponeries. The crane is capable to pickup any close enough plane and load it on empty catapults. A fixed catapult is also now available.Additional rigging tool capabilitiesWiring on your ships previously had to be placed from an item to another, but could not be attached to other wirings. This is now a thing of the past, and wires can be placed on predisposed placements on existing wires.New 152mm turretWe are adding the triple 152mm turret from the USS Cleveland cruisers. It is an excellent option for light cruisers thanks to its high damage per minute compared to its size.More modding capabilitiesWe added many more modding features in this update :possibility to have a fixed element with turrets, useful to make casematescapability to make custom bombs, rockets, torpedos and missilesturrets can now host rockets, torpedos and missilesplanes can now host bombs, rockets, torpedos and missilesChangelogs- bot ships should be less likely to hit their own allies with torpedoes now- ships will no longer fire torpedoes out of range- wires can now be placed on other wires using the rigging tool- added moddable bombs, rockets, torpedos, and missiles- modded planes can now receive custom bombs, rockets, torpedos, and missiles- modded planes can now be painted- modded turrets can now launch custom made...

New modding capability and huge optimisations

Hello,This update is coming earlier than usual, the reason being there were quite a bunch of bugs to fix, large optimisation improvements were achieved, and we also have more modding capability.About optimisation first : we greatly improved buoyancy simulation, halving the computation time. You can expect great fps increases, especially with large ships. We were also able to reduce the vertex count of the generated ship hulls, while retaining the same fidelity as before. This will probably only be a minor improvement for fps, but still together these changes should bring close to 30% more fps than previously. You now have access to a log panel in the mod window, telling you if some ressources failed to be loaded by the mod loader. This should greatly ease modding. You also now have the option to limit the rotation angle of a turret. We introduced the possibility to add modded engines, including underwater capable ones. You can now change the rotation speed of modded propellers. Finally you can now create you own shells with custom diameters and muzzle speeds. All the changes are enumerated below.Changelogs- further optimised buoyancy simulation (should take half the time to compute now)- optimised ships mesh generation- fixed turrets not working well upside down, turrets still struggle when at high positions though- fixed various bugs for mods texture mapping- fixed recoil not having time to come back when modding high rate of fire turrets- improved ship drag handling when steering (no longer artificially reducing engine power)- added a log window to let you know what went wrong when loading your mods- added moddable engines- added moddable bullets (/!\\ custom bullets take close to 0.2 second each to load at startup due to ballistic pre-calculations)- added angle limitations for modded turrets- added rotation speed multiplier for modded propellers
