The Doll Shop is a hand-drawn narrative game – part romance, part horror – set in the Japanese countryside. Play as a young dollmaker who reunites with his childhood friend in an eerie snowbound village. Will you dare confess your secret?
Explore the Japanese countryside as a young dollmaker in The Doll Shop. Unravel the mysteries of an eerie snowbound village and decide whether to confess your deepest secret to an old friend.
About this game

Part romance, part horror, The Doll Shop is the tale of a quiet, secretive dollmaker living in the Japanese countryside. When his childhood friend returns to the village, he must choose between his beloved dolls and the hope of a new life... if it’s not already too late.
A Blend of Adventure Game and Visual Novel
Freely explore the village, enter homes and shops, and talk to the locals. But choose your words carefully – they may have consequences.

An Emotional Journey
The Doll Shop focuses on the emotional states of its characters. There’s a strange comfort in its horror and twisted charm in its romance.

A Unique Art Style
Every detail of the game is hand-drawn by Atelier Sentô, a comic artist duo inspired by the snowy landscapes of northern Japan, where they used to live.
A Complete Remake
First released as a free prototype made during a masterclass with students, The Doll Shop has been entirely rebuilt with new artwork, music, and dialogue.
● Repair creepy dolls and reunite them with their owners.
● Explore a small Japanese village: visit the shrine, soak in the public bath, and more.
● Taste every ramen recipe at the local restaurant.
● 3 different endings. Find them all to unlock a hidden one!

4000 wishlists! And about game languages.
MORE THAN 4000 WISHLISTS! THANK YOU! We have finally reached 4000 wishlists last month! Thank you everyone for your support! Our goal is to obtain between 7000 and 10000 wishlists before the release in next October. Communication is pretty challenging! In fact, this is the huge part left in our planning. As you can see below, the art and the script are competely done. Music, sounds and programming are also almost finished. But communication still requires a lot of work! So far, we contacted many journalists and YouTube channels and we submitted the game to many indie game events. We obtained 2 web articles, 2 YouTube spotlights and were selected by 3 Indie game events. LANGUAGES AVAILABLE IN THE DOLL SHOP: ABOUT TRANSLATIONSince Olivier and I are creating this game in our free time with absolutely no money, we cannot afford to translate the game in many languages. That's a shame, because we'd love to make this story travel around the world and different cultures. But still, we have selected 3 languages (in addidtion to the original script written in French by Olivier) that will be done with a very special care. The Doll Shop is a game based on narration so we focused on the text and want it to be both fun and creepy to read. That's why we decided to work only with friends who have true writing skills. Let us introduce them briefly. Josh Tierney will be in charge of the English version. He is a Canadian comic book writer (author of Spera and Warm Blood among many other books). We've been friends for almost 20 years now and made our beginnings together, collaborating on several projects (comic books, short movie...). Our writing styles are very close and both are focused on the characters feelings.Mizuka Yagi will work on the Japanese translation. We met her in Niigata university in 2009 when I was studying in Japan. We discovered we had the same interest in movies, music and subculture. Since then, she was our referent for each of our projects set in Japan, sending u...Read full article on Community Announcements (Atelier Sentô)AnnouncementsOfficial
Official trailer release & new poster
Hi, nice to meet you :)We are Cecile and Olivier, a duo of comic book artists currently working on our first commercial game: The Doll Shop! Today, we’re glad to finally reveal the official trailer for The Doll Shop on the Steam page! We hope you’ll like it. It's a "story trailer" that emphasizes the atmosphere of the game. Later on, we'll upload another video that will focus more on gameplay. >> https://store.steampowered.com/app/3851680/The_Doll_Shop/ We’ve also created a new poster illustration. The previous one was a little bit too “noisy”. We tried to find a more efficient and simple idea. About our progress on the game : * The graphics are almost 100% done (only 1 or 2 items left to draw). Everything is hand-drawn by us, so it was quite a lot of work. * Olivier has finished writing the script, but there can be some small changes here and there when dialogues are integrated. We won’t be able to send it to the translators until it’s completely clean. * Cecile has finished composing the soundtrack but it might be possible that we need 1 or 2 more tracks for specific scenes. * Sounds are added progressively while programming. It’s hard to predict what sounds we will need before creating the scenes.* The programming is the big part left on this project. Olivier is doing his best to move on this. He is using Unity with the help of Adventure Creator. He’s making good progress and it should be finished in a few months.* The other huge part is to communicate on the game before the release. We often underestimate the importance of this part. Marketing will require us to create a press kit, contact journalists… Cecile will focus on that task in the coming weeks.Let’s hope we can make it before Halloween! Don't forget to wishlist The Doll Shop to support us. \\^_^/Read full article on Community Announcements (Atelier Sentô)
