Navigate the strategic landscapes of Striking Wine, a 2025 indie strategy game where your choice of defensive towers and ammunition meets the cunning tactics of mutated natives.

About this game

Ever since tales of strange encounters in the northern verdant forest by the West River spread far and wide, explorers, journalists, and scholars have flocked to the area in droves. Reports of new species have fueled the frenzy of exploration, driving the local inns to capacity and even prompting the erection of numerous camping tents across the landscape. You, too, are one of the many drawn to the excitement.

Along the way, you’ve encountered all sorts of fascinating beings: a self-proclaimed wizard from an interdimensional mage guild, a fox that seems to understand human speech, and even a sentient snowman (which is intriguing in itself, considering you’re in a temperate forest).

However, as you delve deeper into the forest, you gradually realize that this is not a peaceful realm, but one brimming with hidden dangers. When you narrowly escape being set ablaze by a mobile ball of fire, it dawns on you that not all “life” here is friendly.

Time’s up—use your magical items to carve a way out.

Customizable Tower Ammunition

All of our defenses are based on common items, like slingshots, water bottles, and even a small box! All we have to do is feed these magical, spiritual items with our resources, allowing them to attack on our behalf. What happens if you put a fish bone in a slingshot?

Planning an Escape Route

We can go straight to our destination or take a detour, depending on our strategy at the moment. If there's something valuable somewhere, we should definitely check it out. But what if we encounter inclement weather or tough enemies along the way?

Encountering Mysterious Creatures

Fish can swim, birds can fly. But will fish come ashore? Will birds walk on land? Absolutely. Furthermore, we might encounter attacks from mushrooms, balloons, and even clouds. Many things here appear dangerous, and even more are deadly "creatures" whose danger is difficult to predict. Not only will we devise survival strategies, but the indigenous people here have long been practicing them.

Multiple Ways to Obtain Resources

If we have water and ice, we can use them as two different types of ammunition or combine them into ice water. Want to know how to combine feathers and books? We can obtain the necessary resources not only through trading, but also through treasure hunts and encounters.

Flexible Ways to Improve Your Power

In high-difficulty modes, defeating enemies requires more than just damage; sometimes the right strategy can go a long way. Thankfully, we have many ways to adjust our strategy, such as crafting, cooking, and strategic planning. You don't need to master them all; sometimes just one might be enough to turn the tide.

Use Magic to Secure Victory

These rare and powerful spells can be used at almost any time. What do you want to do? Add a negative effect to all enemies? Change the rules for travel between nodes? Or customize the terrain and climate to your advantage? Easy peasy.

Defeat Powerful Enemies

Reach the exit, defeat the malicious creatures blocking your path, and we'll be out! It's important to note that the enemies guarding the exit are often difficult to defeat, as that's their job. The familiar world beckons, but... should we leave now? Does it seem like something in this fantastical place still calls us?

ImprovementsUpdated the visual presentation of the Wave IndicatorAdded a (temporary) highlight effect to the Discard button to make it more noticeableAdded idle animations for all units on the fieldAdjusted the highlight effect when dragging cardsFixesFixed a crash caused by the “Ember” land tileFixed some crashes related to localization filesScribblesA tower defense game finally has a proper wave indicator!Felt the Discard button wasn’t prominent enough, so added a temporary highlight. Will think about a better solution later.Took inspiration from other games and added a bouncy, jelly-like effect to idle units. Looks pretty neat! The old card-dragging effect tended to obscure the card itself and wasn’t visually great. Made some tweaks.Regarding the localization file issues… it’s highly likely not all of them are fixed. But there are just so many files. Giving myself a tiny pass on this one.

    Release Notes for "Striking Wine"

Hello everyone,After a long period of development, the full version of "Striking Wine" is now available as of December 23, 2025, at 9:00 PM (GMT+8).However, before considering a purchase, please read the following points, which are more important than any gameplay mechanic.1. Please Try the Demo FirstThe Demo will always coexist with the full version. We strongly recommend downloading and trying the latest free Demo before making a decision. For the foreseeable future, the Demo will receive the same updates as the full version. You can experience everything the full version currently offers in the Demo.2. About "Unfinished" and "A Sense of Ceremony"The current version is far from perfect; she's not even complete. Yet, when we initially set the date for December 23, 2025, and later encountered a potential "bad ending" in development, we decided that since nothing unforeseen occurred, the date would not change.Because of this, we have chosen not to send wishlist notification emails to avoid creating what one might call "disappointed purchasers." More than an impulsive purchase, we hope for a conscious recognition of the project. As a compromise, we have lowered the launch price (through a temporary 30% reduction and a separate launch discount of 15%). We've also opted to keep the Demo synchronized with the full version's updates. This makes a purchase feel more like early support and a vote of confidence, rather than payment for a finished product.3. Random UpdatesAs a student, my schedule is both busy and unpredictable. This means update cycles are highly unstable: there might be frequent iterations during free time, but during busy periods (like exam season), there could be one or two months of inactivity. You can check the store announcements to see the current "busy status."We won't make promises we can't keep. What we can promise is this: every update, whenever it arrives, will be the best gift we can offer to this project within our capabilities and time at that ...

ImprovementsMerged the Camp and Travel Map interfaces, and updated the relevant UI accordinglyTemporarily removed the new player tutorialFixesFixed missing textures within the mapThis update aims to make the UI interactions feel more intuitive. However, redesigning the UI always means having to redo the tutorial, which is tiring — so I've removed it for now. I'm considering replacing it with a manual-style guide (like the one in Oxygen Not Included) in the future to see if that works better.Halfway through this update, I realized the in-map textures were wrong. Looking forward to the day when players find these kinds of issues before I do.

ImprovementsTweaked the animation for switching between UI screensAdded a gentle reminder on the main menu... just in caseFixesNo specific bugs were squashed in this updateWe're nearing the release date, but... let's just say the development has hit a “bad ending” and not everything is ready. So, I've added a little note at the bottom-left corner of the main menu. Hope it helps set the right expectations.
