About this game
Dupery is a solo deduction game set in a noir city infiltrated by a powerful criminal syndicate. Take on the role of a detective, hunt down the syndicate criminals and uncover the head of the network. Explore individual cases, investigate roles - many of whom will be lying - and weed out the evil. There are 4 categories of roles - Innocent, Meddler, Underling and Traitor - with over 200 individual roles you will come across in your cases. Use your detective skills and a healthy amount of distrust for everyone to arrest the syndicate members as you traverse regions, all while maintaining your reputation and evading their attempts to deceive you. Avoid wrongful arrests, or you could lose your job.
Interrogate, Review, Arrest
Cases are procedurally generated on a grid containing a mix of good and evil roles. To solve a case, use clues provided by the characters and deduce whose stories are not quite checking out. Underlings lie, Traitors are worse, and even the well-meaning may be tainted. Cross reference what you hear, compile imperfect information using strings, pins and pen on your detective board and make your arrests. From the Mathematician who will announce the sum of all evil role addresses, to the critic who causes your reputation loss to be doubled, it’s up to you to investigate them and make the right decisions.
Your Reputation Is on the Line
Progress through areas by completing cases, building your way towards the final boss confrontation. Arresting good-aligned roles will reduce your reputation - letting it fall too low will get you fired. Arresting all evil roles counts as solving the case and will increase your reputation, allowing you to pick the next case to solve. Choose which roles to add to your cases in between missions, along with acquiring quirks and modifiers that will shape your runs.
Different Campaigns. One Syndicate.
Work your way through three campaigns set in distinct zones, each with its own unique mechanics and roles that alter your gameplay. Each zone progresses you towards a final confrontation with the region’s syndicate general. Once you’ve arrested them all, it’s time to face the boss, a brutal final run drawing from everything you encountered on your way. It’s up to you to bring down the syndicate mastermind.

The Speakeasy: Learnings Through Development
Hello, Detectives! Welcome back to The Speakeasy; grab a drink of choice and get comfortable. I'd like to start off by saying wow, you have exceeded expectations with the Dupery ARG. 5 clues solved in around 2 hours, and watching the way you solved them was fascinating. Truly never had more confidence in a set of detectives. We're upping the ante for the next clues but have no doubt you'll breeze through them like before. We also announced the release date yesterday and now, more than ever before, we're counting down the days eagerly until you can play the full game. Playtests and demos have been received with such enthusiasm that we are super keen to see how you detectives enjoy the full release! And onwards to our main course for this week, we asked the devs: What are some of the biggest things you’ve learnt through the development process of the game? Luke: Add an in game button that people can press to send bug reports!!! It’s helped us so much to find some of the trickier, more sinister bugs, and as we also send the case info across as part of the report, it also helps us filter out false positives (Looking at you accountant/milkman/conman/fall guy+mathematician). Lydia: To use imperfection in visuals to my advantage! With such an irregular and angular art style, I have a lot more freedom to focus on the major image and not get caught up in the details. The scratchy-ness of brush strokes, the fact that the magnifying glass is a little wonky? IT'S A FEATURE! It has let me iterate with so much more freedom and efficiency this project, and really let me play with negative space in a way I haven't before. ───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── I know you're all very active in the Discord and ask the devs plenty of things already, but if you have any questions you'd like to see in these dev diaries, do let us know and I'll fire the questions away at them! Here's a fun little screenshot from of the Discord community members, Snowman The...Read full article on Community Announcements (Tvesha)AnnouncementsOfficial

Remember, your fellow detectives may be crucial in helping you solve this specific case - use the clues you find to reveal code words and pass phrases to decrypt. Some are hidden in plain sight whilst some require your expert sleuthing. Once you have revealed a suspect and their case file number, share your results to socials or in the #who-are-the-syndicate channel in the Discord to increase the discount with each correct answer. The Speakeasy - New Dupery Dev Diary Series!
Welcome in, detectives. You must be wondering why I have gathered you here today, on this fine Friday. Well, truth is, being a detective is hard work, and sometimes we all need a little journaling to wind down. I'm letting you into this little journal with a new series called The Speakeasy - dev diaries where I'll share all sorts of things from the minds of the Gilded Rune Games developers through the journey of the game (and maybe a bit more). This week in The Speakeasy, we started simple. We asked the devs - What were your inspirations for making Dupery: A Game of Solo Deduction? Luke: Watching people play Blood on the Clocktower is definitely the biggest inspiration for Dupery for me. At one point I really got into the habit of watching games on YouTube while I ate my lunch. I really enjoyed it as I found the mechanical side of it surprisingly deep, and the social aspect of it very entertaining. I especially enjoyed the in-person No Rolls Barred games and, of course, the Blood on the Clocktower in Minecraft series by the Yogscast! Lydia: I’ve always really enjoyed the Noir setting, especially when it doesn't take itself so seriously. The DnD series Mentopolis on Roll 20 is an incredible example of the tone I try to keep in mind for Dupery. It's a genre that thrives on pushing the over exaggerations of tropes and insane silliness of the ‘rogue’ detective who goes to absurd and often unnecessary lengths for justice. ───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── And that's our little sneak peek into the recurring series to come, so I do hope you'll stick along for the ride if you enjoy learning more fun facts about the devs and Dupery like I do, detectives. See you next week! Hope wants you all to have a lovely weekend (and enjoy the playtest!) {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45830543/58a3040e96e0ae07d080f689e9487e0af15fd46a.pngRead full article on Community Announcements (Tvesha)AnnouncementsOfficial
