About this game

You’ve been absent. Perhaps you once called this world home, but it moved on without you. Where were you? How long has it been? Alone on a boat in a sea of Flux, you set off without destination to find answers.

The entire planet lies before you. No matter where you go, you find a unique trace of the past. Lost journal letters. Remains of a great temple. Derelict research papers. Ancient conversations between peers. Soon you start making connections, and previous discoveries grow in weight.

Knowledge is progress. There is no combat, waypoints, or skill trees - just you, your ship, your tools, and the waiting world.

Constellations rotate overhead as you glide over the waves. You learn to sail by the stars, using the sky as your guide.

Each location you explore offers up new mysteries and answers. You take note of your discoveries in your journal for later.

You pause after reviewing your notes. The strange puzzle from a previous location begins to make sense. You know what to do now.

Update 1.3.0 - Weight, Mood, and Quality

The focus of this update is to give some extra love to the endings of this game, as well as the overall atmosphere and mood as you explore. There's also a few cool changes to see! Changes:Every ending now has a unique animation or effect if it didnt already have one. The endings should feel more impactful and immersive, giving them more weight and importance.Every ending now has a specific song that plays. No new music, but certain songs in the soundtrack now always play for each ending.Texts now read out in the game world when clicking on them. This change makes the process of exploration quite a bit more engaging and interesting!Added a new way to open the Labyrinth...Added achievements for Fishing! You should retroactively get them if you've caught fish before.Changed start location to Acropolis. This location should provide a more clear starting point for players and be a more accurate representation of what challenges you will face.Improved lorefinder tracking for non-Disc objects.Autopilot now needs 2 endings complete to unlock, rather than just one. Autopilot has been an experimental feature, and I'm still working out when you should have it. It is a good quality of life feature, but does take away some of the magic of figuring out navigation.Fixed some bugs with radar tracking for certain locations.Adjusted a disc at Greater Corba.Endings should hopefully properly save your location now, rather than resetting you to a random point. As of this update, you can expect the time between updates for Flux Empyrean to take a bit longer. Since Flux Empyrean's launch, I've been working on two projects. Flux Empyrean itself, and an unnamed new game. Up to this point, I've been working on both, but prioritizing Flux Empyrean. Going forward, the new game will be my development priority, but that does not mean the end of updates for Flux Empyrean! I'm working on both, just shifting which game is my current focus. You can expect plenty more tweaks and fixes for Flux Empyrea...

    Patch 1.2.1

Here's some polish and improvements, with a focus on changing issues from the last update. Hope you enjoy! Changes:Telescope adjusted to not collide with locations as much while at them.Labyrinth has some new lighting that should improve the visual and navigation experience there.Fixed bugs with tracking the number of discovered locations in the journal. In order to use the rotation autopilot feature, you now need at least one ending as well as the location discoveries. This might be tweaked further. I think this is a good quality of life feature, but it shouldn't take away from the early game sense of exploration.Fixed an issue with how endings were saved offline. In the future, getting an ending while not connected to the internet should earn you the Steam achievement later.Acropolis has some more feedback and tweaked verbiage to improve the overall experience there.Monument to Consciousness has been adjusted visually. The marks from the previous update are no longer bright blue.North Ideolog has the correct text now.Progress tracking at the Memorial to the Lost now only takes into account the correct texts.Memorial to Inexistence should now let you get the second location note. The hitbox was previously off.

    Update 1.2.0

Hello all! Sorry for the wait with this update. I wanted to take some time to rest and make sure I didn't break anything! There's quite a few exciting changes to be found here!Major FeaturesThe radar will now display discovered locations in a different color.Added a button in the main menu to reset your position in the world. This is useful if you ever find yourself stuck inside a location. This will not delete discoveries.Added option for no UI. This will be great for cinematic shots!Added option for no Entities. Doesn't change gameplay, just keeps the scary-but-friendlies away.Added option for no Outlines. This may improve performance, but is also just a stylistic choice.Added two new sound effects at the wheel and sail controls. If you have discovered almost every location in the game, your journal will have a new option to automatically rotate the boat to face a discovered location.Tweaks and PolishSome small optimizations may improve overall performance for some people.Telescope now has some "thickness" when identifying locations, which makes the overall experience more stable and smooth.Secret mechanics regarding breath now reset after use. This should make the experience of these mechanics smoother and less jarring.Made Monument to Consciousness ending actually trigger the achievement. Also added a bit to the corners of the structure for visibility.Added some checks to save the game before getting an ending. Should hopefully reduce the amount of position randomization that happens after getting an ending.Improved puzzle experiences at Deep Flux Lab, Greater Corba, Acropolis, Tower of Languages, and Hall of Judgment.Improved collision at Tower of Languages and Hall of Judgment.Monolith to Cora has the proper ending animation now.Added a note at Great Arch so it can appear in the journal as discovered.Made more things appear in the Lorefinder.StationX can now actually be interacted with via terminal.Added a missing frequency for Shrine of Siciphos related to the...

Hope everything has been going good for you! There are A LOT of changes here to improve the overall experience. I hope you enjoy. Side note: 1.1.9 will focus more on puzzle adjustment and potentially new content to help improve the overall experience. It will probably take longer than previous updates. If you are viewing Station 9 and then move to your passages, when you return to the locations view, you'll be back on Station 9.The journal now gives you a count of how many things you have discovered, and if you have found enough, how many are left to find. The search function now considers your notes. The journal now shows an icon in the scrollbar when you have found every passage in a text or location.Puzzle TweaksMake the Greater Corba puzzle give much more feedback. It should be much more clear what is going on.The sounds transmitted by Beacons should now be more easily identifiable, making it more clear what their pattern is.The Courtyard House now gives more audio feedback that should make the puzzle more intuitive.Reworded the puzzle at Parallel Exhibition to be less obscure.Adjusted one of the puzzles at the Shrine of Siciphos. The Master Key did not have a use previously. (Uh, oops.) It now does, and might get more soon.Added audio feedback for the Tome Esoterica puzzles.Made the stuff at the Memorial to Inexistence more clear.Added a new text at Home of Minos to help guide people to how to open the Labyrinth.Discovery TweaksQuite a few spots had inaccurate, duplicate, or m...
