    Development Log #7

Thanks for always watching!✨Today, we’d like to introduce the KIZUNA (Side) Quests!※In this game, the structure is broadly divided into two parts: the Main Quest that moves the story forward, and the Side Quests where you form KIZUNA. When words are engraved in the heart, KIZUNA is formed※Sorry, only the Japanese version is available at this time. The characters in this story each play a role within the fairy tale itself. But during the Interludes between chapters, they step away from those roles and reveal their true selves—along with the worries and problems they carry.By helping them resolve those issues, they may come to trust the protagonist,or speak to them as a mentor who shares hard-earned wisdom. Those words they leave behind—that is what becomes KIZUNA in this story. You can complete the story without collecting KIZUNA,but by gathering them, the story will surely become richer and more meaningful.(Collected KIZUNA can also be used in battles.) Give Insight to things whose existence has begun to waverMost of the characters’ troubles stem from the loss of something important—a thing whose meaning or presence has faded.During Interludes, the protagonist helps by:Finding InsightUsing that Insight to restore what was lost(and in some cases, delivering it to where it belongs)Through this process, their problems are resolved. We’re planning around 70 KIZUNA quests, one for nearly every named character with spoken dialogue (excluding background NPCs)!(To be honest, that made episode writing and quest design… pretty tough🫠But after revisiting the structure multiple times, we finally landed on a form that feels right.)Not all KIZUNA words are “nice” or comforting ones. Some might even make the fairy frown—are these really good words…? These KIZUNA episodes offer glimpses into each character’s personality, and we hope you’ll enjoy discovering them for yourself! As always, thank you for your continued support of ROCOCO GAMES and The Perfect Prince !

    Development Log #6

Happy New Year!🎉🎉We hope you’ll continue to support ROCOCO GAMES and The Perfect Prince this year as well!Today, we’d like to share a little more about the game’s world, along with the introductory sequences we were working on toward the end of last year.A boy from the real world wanders into a picture-book fairy tale※Sorry, only the Japanese version is available at this time. From a demo version currently in development. We’re planning to polish the presentation a bit more. The original story—and the absence of its princeAnd that’s how it all connects to our catchphrase:“In the world of a picture book you wandered into, there was a prince who looked just like you...”What kind of ending will the boy bring about…??--The characters themselves are aware that they live within a crafted story world, so you’ll encounter plenty of meta dialogue and moments along the way.The protagonist boy is mostly silent—a neutral, colorless presence. Our goal is for “the protagonist’s story” to become the reader’s (the player’s) story, and we’ve put a lot of care into shaping the narrative with that experience in mind. There’s so much more we’d love to talk about when it comes to the world and its lore, but since much of it is best experienced firsthand in the game, we’ll stop here for now. As always, thank you for your continued support of ROCOCO GAMES and The Perfect Prince !P.S.We really should’ve embedded the news videos from YouTube sooner…There was a 5MB limit, so every time we had to turn them into GIFs, trim the length, and struggle to get decent compression.🫠

    Development Log #4

Hello there!Thank you for checking out the latest news from ROCOCO GAMES and The Perfect Prince !Today, we’d like to talk about one of the key charms of this title — its world and art style, or simply put... The World of a Picture-Book Fairy Tale. Our focus isn’t just on making it look like a storybook. We’re also deeply committed to expressing the fairy-tale essence within the story itself. Here are a few highlights from that pursuit:The World ExpandsWarm, watercolor-style backgrounds bring each scene to life.As the protagonist explores new places, the world gradually unfolds before them.Page EffectsMap transitions appear as page turns, and narration sometimes accompanies key events. These little “book-like” touches are sprinkled throughout to enhance the storybook atmosphere.Demi-Humans!Charming demi-human characters also add to the fairy-tale flavor of the world.(We plan to introduce more of them later in the bonus 4-panel comics!😊)By wrapping the entire setting and gameplay systems in this picture-book motif—its aesthetic, charm, and storytelling style—we’ve built a world that truly embodies the essence of a storybook adventure. We hope you’ll look forward to the unique experience of stepping into a living fairy tale and turning its pages yourself.📖That’s all for today. Thanks as always for supporting ROCOCO GAMES and The Perfect Prince !Stay tuned for the bonus 4-panel comic at the end!

    Development Log #3

Hello there! This is ROCOCO GAMES!Today, we’d like to give you a little sneak peek into the battle system of The Perfect Prince.Although it’s an adventure game, it actually features battles! But they’re not about simply defeating enemies —they’re verbal duels that decide how the story unfolds.Battle BasicsThe core rules are simple, based on a rock-paper-scissors style system, but with Active Time tactics and deck-building strategy, it offers plenty of depth and tension! The player is dealt three cards, while the enemy gets one, all at random. Each card has its own activation gauge, which fills over time. The background shows the battle flow like a tug-of-war.Push the gauge all the way to your side and land a finishing card—that’s your victory! There are also a few mechanics that make the fights more dynamic:・Taking damage fills your acceleration meter, making cards activate faster.・You can reload your hand with the X button.・Time your card just right to parry an enemy attack as their gauge fills.・And of course, enemies have their own special skills (coming soon!).We think you’ll find the battles surprisingly tense and exciting!✊✌✋During the TGS demo (especially on Business Days),our tactical setup turned out a bit too challenging… and, well, we kind of defeated everyone who tried it.(That’s the classic dev mistake—making your own game too hard… sorry about that >
