Explore a vast planet, grow your colony, and navigate complex negotiations with rival factions in Uncivilized.
About this game
Uncivilized takes all the fun stuff from traditional empire building games: Exploring the map, growing your empire, destroying or befriending rivals, and seeing long term plans come to fruition, then gets rid of the slow and boring bits.
Take part in quick yet meaningful exploration and expansion, engage in fast tactical combat and make decisive, exciting diplomatic choices. But fast doesn't mean easy, the game still demands astute decision making and long term planning.
4X without the fluff
See your empire grow across the map. Exterminating, befriending or culturally subsuming your rivals in the process, all within an hour. No more abandoning games after the fun expansion part is over.
Don't worry about micromanaging cities while at war or trudging units across the map for countless turns, and forget about endless stats and resources to fine tune while wondering if it’s actually making any difference.
Characterful, simulated opponents
Rich, personality-driven rival factions to play against, forming a complex web of alliances, rivalries, or bitter hatred. All driven by their own goals, innate personalities, and interactions with you and each other in the world - both diplomatic and military.
It’s all cards
All your actions are on cards. City building, scouting, upgrades, military units, defences, trade - they are all played as cards from your hand. Build and upgrade cities to produce new and better cards. Specialise down the paths of military, culture or science to unlock the most devastating or devious abilities.
And you can freely undo actions within a turn - so you're free to try things out, and don't worry about misclicks.
Every decision matters
Each turn has consequences, long and short term, visible or hidden, that ensures no two games are the same. Exploiting your cities or native tribes may give short term gains, but could lock you out of powerful technology or future relationships. Use gruesome superweapons in the process of conquering a rival, and maybe face the rest of the planet turning against you.

Big Playtest Update + Demo coming soon
Hey folks,I just released a big update to the playtest build of Uncivilized. The game now has full diplomacy for each of the playtest factions, allowing you to win or lose via diplomacy rather than just conquest. There has been an unbelievable amount of writing involved in creating all this, way more than I bargained for, but it gives the game a life and personality that makes it more than worth it.The actual ending events are placeholder for now, but they're almost all written and ready to go!Playtest sign ups are open, so if you want to play and help make the game better for its full release, go ahead and sign up! I’ll let in another batch of testers very soon. I also created Discord for sharing feedback about the game, join up here. And what’s more, I’m aiming to have a demo ready for December! This will basically be the current playtest build, but with all the useful feedback I’m getting addressed and the game fully polished up. Cheers!DanRead full article on Community Announcements (Dan)Patch NotesOfficial
Playtesting Update
Hey folks,Just a wee progress update on Uncivilized!Playtests with newsletter subscribers have been going really well, and the feedback from that has led to a bunch of great changes! If you want in, go here and subscribe. If you’re already in, make sure the game is up to date! Otherwise I'll soon open up public playtesting on Steam, but we're not quite there yet.As for the changes, the game now has a tutorial! Obviously this was always planned, but I decided to bring it forward as some people were getting a bit lost and never even getting to the meat of the game. Now there's a pretty nice on-ramp to help get to grips with the flow of things and how to navigate and make progress when starting out. There's been countless other improvements too. The early game has been sped up a lot, tutorial or not. Sound effects are making their way in now. WAY more feedback and juice when playing cards and attacking. The UI is just about finished. The main items on my checklist before public playtesting are: Better rival turn animations and feedbackImproved visualsFull sound effectsMusicOnce that's all done with and we've had some more rounds of playtesting, I can finally flesh out the factions properly and work on the end game. And soon after that, a demo!CheersDanRead full article on Community Announcements (Dan)AnnouncementsOfficial
