Venture into the ever-shifting Dreamlands where each step and shot unravels your grip on reality, facing ancient horrors in this indie action game from Boared Dog.

About this game

Step into the Dreamlands, a parallel realm accessible only through dreams, teeming with bizarre native beings and entities long lost to the depths of nightmare. In this Lovecraftian roguelite FPS, you must navigate procedurally generated labyrinths, confront eldritch creatures, and face the ancient Outer Gods that dwell in the deepest folds of the dream.

Nightmarish loop

You always craved more. Longed for greatness. For discoveries. Until you discovered something that no man should ever witness. A deal with the Crawling Chaos put you inside a never ending nightmare, forever cursing you to roam labyrinthian halls.

Mazes of insanity

Find your way through randomly generated mazes, filled with unspeakable horrors. Exposure to the unnatural corrodes your mind. The lower your sanity, the more the world twists, distorting your perception, tricking your mind and altering mechanics. Be quick and do not get lost - each second spent in the labirynth lowers how much your brain can handle.

Outer Gods

The Outer Gods are a central part of Halls of Nyarlathotep. Each biome features a unique entity that lurks in the space beyond the maze and culminates in an epic boss battle with one of the Dreamlands' resident deities - vast, unknowable beings whose presence alone is enough to shatter the mind.

Tools of the Occult

Arm yourself with weapons as strange and otherworldly as the realm itself. These are no ordinary tools of war - each one is steeped in occult lore or inspired by pages of Lovecraftian fiction. Wield a revolver that fires tormented souls instead of bullets, swing a blood-hungry macuahuitl that grows stronger with each enemy it tastes, or brandish the Elder Sign to ward off the twisted things that should not be.

Alongside these relics, uncover occult Sigils - arcane spells that can guide your way, shield your mind, or unleash devastating power upon the creatures that hunt you.

Locations from Dreamland cycle

Visit biomes inspired by works of H.P. Lovecraft, before he brought Cthulhu into the world. Travel icy plateau of Leng with its man-eating spiders and scale the mountain of Kadath where ancient gods dwell. Pray that cats from Ulthar will help you in your journey.

Hidden Chambers Update - Coming Soon

Hidden Chambers Update - Now Available on the Beta BranchYou may have noticed we've been rather quiet on Steam lately. That's because we've been hard at work on the next major update for Halls of Nyarlathotep.Today we're excited to give you an early look at Hidden Chambers, a new feature that adds optional rooms, expands the game's lore, and introduces a brand-new Perk system.Hidden ChambersAs you explore the Dreamlands, you may discover mysterious doors leading to optional chambers. Lore Chambers and Challenge Chambers are rolled independently, meaning you might encounter one, both, or neither during your journey.Once a chamber is completed or failed, it disappears for the remainder of the run.Lore ChambersLore Chambers offer a glimpse into the world beyond the main path. Here, you'll uncover fragments of your shattered mind, learn more about the Dreamlands, its inhabitants, and the events that shaped this strange world. Each chamber is designed to expand the game's lore and reward exploration beyond combat.Challenge ChambersChallenge Chambers are handcrafted encounters, each built around its own unique idea. Some will test your combat skills, others your awareness, movement, or ability to adapt to increasingly bizarre situations inspired by the Dreamlands and weird fiction.Successfully completing a Challenge Chamber rewards you with a Perk.PerksPerks are permanent bonuses for the duration of a run, allowing you to gradually shape your build as you progress. They are divided into three archetypes:Brawler: melee combat, resilience, and raw power.Scholar: occult abilities, sigils, and harnessing madness.Marksman: precision, ranged combat, and critical strikes. After clearing a Challenge Chamber, you'll first choose between two randomly selected archetypes. Roadmap and communication

Iä!Launch day is behind us - lot of emotions definitely. Small breather and we're back in action. We have a few announcements and information for you today.RoadmapBelow we're presenting you our planned roadmap for the Early Access. As you can see, the game is still in early stages and we have a lot planned. First, we want to deploy some most pressing hotfixes and missing stuff gathered during initial feedback. We want to make sure that everyone who bought the game can play it comfortably. Then, we wrap up some things that didn't make it into initial launch, like the second phase of the Wen'thauq fight. Then we're starting the work on an entirely new system - Lore and Challenges rooms. These will be randomly generated rooms you will find scattered throughout the maze. We are aware that the first biome is a bit repetitive (it was the first thing we developed after all) and this is one of the improvements aiming at providing more run variety. Presented roadmap is very approximate and rough. We will cover the reasons in the next section, but please note that some pieces may shift, arrive earlier or later. During the entire development we will be rolling out bugfixes and improvements, these blocks are milestones that we want to hit. We will also most probably rollout new content gradually instead of rare huge content patches. The current content you see today is a product of a little more than a year of development. Taking into account that we had to lay foundation for the entire project, build architecture and pipelines, but also the fact that bugfixing, polishing and improvements take the most time, we estimate that we're roughly at 50% completion. Communication and motivationHalls of Nyarlathotep is a passion project developed by just two people and it's as of today created entirely in our free time - after work that is actually paying our bills. Why do we say that?To be 100% honest with you and give you some expectations about the scope of the project and our availabi...
